How to Just Delete the Group’s Media Files

Another aspect of WhatsApp groups that may become problematic is the sheer number of images, GIFs, and video files that sometimes come with them. This media accumulates quickly and can take up a lot of storage on your phone. As a result, you may not want to delete a group but instead delete the media from this group; here’s how:

  1. Open WhatsApp. Tap the three dots at the top right of the screen.
  2. From the new menu, select “Settings.”
  3. Next, choose the “Storage and Data” option.
  4. Click on “Manage Storage.” Scroll through the list to find the group from which you want to delete the media.
  5. Click on the group to see all the media for that particular group. You can select individual images and videos (by pressing down on them to check them), or “Select All” at the top-right of the screen.
  6. After selecting, click the trash bin icon on the top-right of the screen. Click “Delete” to confirm your choice.

Deleting this media will remove it from the group chat for you but not the other participants.

You can delete a WhatsApp group for everyone at any time, provided that you are its creator. However, you can perform this procedure in different ways:

  1. Delete for yourself only. Then its participants will be able to continue communication in it, but without your participation.
  2. Delete chat completely. Fully. In such a situation, you will first need to remove all its participants, including you. And only then the group is deleted.

Please note! A group can only be deleted by its creator. At the same time, you can delete both complete and partial, leaving the opportunity to communicate in it to others, but you will no longer be able to perform any actions in it. nine0003

If you simply delete a group that you created, then it will not appear in your conversations, and all correspondence history in it will be deleted from your device. At the same time, the remaining members of it will see this group in their chat, but it will not be possible to send notifications through.

How can an administrator delete a WhatsApp group

Published

WhatsApp is full of various thematic groups that ordinary users create. For example, I am still a member of several groups, and I think you are too. At the same time, each of us can also create a group in Watsap, but what if the created group has long lost its relevance, and no one has been communicating there for a long time? If you are an administrator or the creator of a group, then you can simply archive it, or delete it completely and permanently. nine0003

So, next I will show in detail, how to delete a WhatsApp group that the admin himself created .

First of all, I note that you can completely and permanently delete a WhatsApp group only if you created it yourself, or are an administrator. If you are a regular member of the group, then you can simply leave it (leave so as not to read messages), or archive the group chat.

Now I will show how to delete the created group in Watsap to the administrator. I made the instructions on Android, but you can delete a WhatsApp group chat on iPhone in the same way. So, we do the following:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to the group you want to delete;
  2. Now click on the group name at the top of the screen;
  3. Scroll down to the list of group members. Now you will need to remove all participants in the group chat. To do this, click on the person's name and select "Delete" in the menu that appears;
  4. Confirm the deletion and then do the same for all other members;
  5. It is necessary that only you remain in the group. After all participants are deleted, click on the "Leave the group" button; nine0096
  6. And confirm your withdrawal from the group;
  7. Now the Delete Group button will appear. Click on it;
  8. And confirm the deletion. Here you can immediately note the need to delete all media files (photos, videos and audio messages) that were sent in your group for the entire time.

The group will be deleted completely and permanently both in your WhatsApp and in the rest of the former members that you deleted earlier.

By the way, we have also prepared a video that will show you as informative as possible how you can delete a WhatsApp group that you created yourself (or an administrator):

If you are not the creator or administrator of the group, you will not be able to delete it. This is logical, because other users should not be able to delete other people's groups. If you are a simple member, you can leave the group chat at any time.

You can also archive the group so that it moves to the very bottom of your chats. Plus, in the settings, you can turn off the display of notifications about new messages in this group - then it will forever remain below all your dialogs.
