How to change background picture on instagram story
How to Change the Background Color on Your Instagram Story
- There are two ways to change the background color of your Instagram Story.
- If you're posting a photo or video to your Instagram Story, you can change the background color with the Draw tool.
- If you're just using the Create feature, there's a selection of preset background colors to choose from.
You can customize your Instagram Story in a number of ways, including changing the background color.
Specifically, there's two major ways to change your Story's background color. Which one you use will depend on whether you want to include a photo or video with your Story, or just text and stickers.
Here's how to change your Instagram Story background color in both ways.
How to change your Instagram Story background color if it has an image or videoMost Instagram Stories include a picture. But unless that picture fills up the entire screen, there's going to be some blank spaces in the background.
You can change this background color using the Draw tool. This method is a bit imprecise, but it does work, and lets you pick pretty much any color you want.
1. Open Instagram and tap the Your story icon in the top-left, then select the photo or video that you want to upload.
2. Tap the three dot icon in the top-right corner, then select Draw.
You'll find "Draw" on the page that lets you choose who can see your Story. Meta; William Antonelli/Insider3. Toolbars will appear at the top and bottom of the screen. Tap the left-most option in the top toolbar (it looks like a pencil tip), and pick the color that you want from the bottom toolbar.
Quick tip: You can also choose the highlighter option in the middle of the top toolbar if you want your background to be transparent. And if the color you want isn't in the bottom toolbar, you can use the dropper tool on the left to choose a color directly from your photo or video.
4. Tap and hold your finger anywhere on the screen. After a second, the entire screen will fill with the color you chose.
5. Now tap the right-most option in the top toolbar to turn on the eraser. Drag your finger across the screen to wipe away the color covering your photo or video.
This can be a messy process, so go slow and remember to use the Undo button in the top-left. You can also use the slider on the left to make your brush bigger or smaller.
Once you've erased the background, you might want to use the pen again to fill in any blank spots. Meta; William Antonelli/InsiderOnce you're done, go ahead and add any stickers or captions that you want, then post it.
Quick tip: Alternatively, you can save a picture to your phone that has the background color that you want, and then upload that to your Story. You'll still be able to add text and other stickers to it.
How to change your Instagram Story background color with the Create toolThe other way that most people make Instagram Stories is using the Create tool. This feature gives you templates that you can use to quickly post a poll, timer, GIF, and more. The big difference is that it doesn't let you include photos or videos.
And unlike the method above, the Create tool has a feature that lets you change background colors built right into it. Here's how to use it.
1. Open Instagram and swipe to the right to turn on the camera, and then select the Aa Create option on the left.
"Create" should be the first option. Meta; William Antonelli/Insider2. A page will appear where you can pick your Story's template. You'll also notice a small bubble appear in the bottom-right corner — tap this bubble to cycle through background colors.
There are about a dozen background color options to choose from. Meta; William Antonelli/Insider3. When you find one that you like, choose your Story's template and fill it all out. Once you're ready, post it.
You can also use the Draw tool method here too. Once you've finished making your Story and get to the page that lets you choose who can see it, tap the three dot icon in the top-right and select Draw. All the same steps work.

Stories background hacks
A simple plain background for stories is a good option for a background. It does not scatter the attention of the audience. However, in some cases, polls and text require creativity. Next, you will find a selection with recommendations and techniques for creating spectacular Stories.
Create effects with the eraser
Use the eraser to create an original pattern. For example, in the form of hearts, squares or circles.
This life hack can be used for games with subscribers. Have them guess which phone model or piece of furniture is featured in the story.
You can also create a scratch card like the photo is showing through the background. To do this, wipe the background with an eraser, changing the size of the eraser and the angle of the lines.
Semi-transparent background
Use a marker to create a semi-transparent background. Click on it in the toolbar, and then on the desired color. Touch the screen and hold your finger for a couple of seconds - a translucent fill will be added to the photo.
Gradient background
In addition to the plain background, you can use the original alternative - the gradient background in history. To do this, go to the text story, select a background with the desired shades and write a word.
Click "Next" and then delete the text. You'll have a blank background with a gradient that you can add a question, gif, or image to.
More shades
When creating a story, 27 standard shades are available to users. But you can use an expanded color palette to make your Stories original and recognizable. In addition, you can choose a background that matches the visual style of your brand.
To use the full palette of colors that is not displayed in the main story block, do this. Select the Brush tool and click on the Gradient Picker. You will have access to the full range of shades - you can change the color of the background, text and other elements.
Ready background image
A great option to save time and effort. You just need to download the finished image for stories from the Internet. Enter the query "beautiful backgrounds for Instagram stories" in Yandex or Google and you will get hundreds of ready-made pictures with different textures and colors. Just download the full version of the background you like and add it to your story later.
Suitable sized backgrounds can also be found on Pinterest. Log in to the service and search Pinterest for "background for instagram stories".
Photo editing apps
Dozens of photo editors and designers are available for download in the Play Market. They contain many backgrounds in which you can change any element.
Let's take a look at how to do this using the StoryMaker mobile application as an example. It's a free tool with over 300 layouts (including holiday ones) and 100 fonts. It provides multimedia support and high-resolution export. Install the app and run it on your phone.
Choose the appropriate picture. Click on the landscape icon in the bottom menu.
In the first tab, click on the desired color range and specific shade.
If you want to get a background with a gradient, click on the second item and select the appropriate shades.
To apply effects (bokeh, glow, geometric, holographic, dotted, floral) go to the third tab. After applying the effect, click on the checkmark.
After that, in the first section of the bottom menu you can add and edit text, in the third section you can add a sticker, and in the fourth section you can change the color of the background elements.
Click on the "+" in the center of the background and select a photo for your story from the smartphone gallery.
At the end, click on export and decide on the desired image quality.
You can save the path to the picture, share it in a messenger or social network.
