There are a few different ways to make money from the content you post on Facebook. To be eligible, however, your entire Page and its content must adhere to our rules for monetisation. How well you and your Page follow these rules will determine your monetisation eligibility.
Rules for monetisation
You and your Page need to follow three main sets of rules to be eligible to monetise your content on Facebook:
Facebook Community Standards
These are our foundational rules against unsafe content that depicts graphic violence, nudity and hate speech. In most cases, even non-monetised content must follow our Community Standards.
Partner Monetisation Policies
Our Partner Monetisation Standards are typically applied at the Page level and address the behaviour of your Page as a whole, including rules for the content that your Page creates, how that content is shared and how your Page receives and makes online payments.
Content Monetisation Policies
These rules typically apply at the content level. They address the content of each individual video or post that your Page publishes. Our Content Monetisation Policies include rules against violent, sexual, criminal, graphic or profane content.
See if your Page is eligible
In addition to following our Rules for Monetisation, there are certain requirements that your Page and your content must meet before being able to use any of Facebook's monetisation products.

In-stream ads eligibility
Only Facebook Pages are eligible to use in-stream ads. You're eligible for in-stream ads if you meet the following criteria:

Meet our eligibility requirements for on-demand and/or live video
This metric helps determine how successfully you'll be able to monetise with in-stream ads. In the last 60 days, you need to have met the following requirements:

- 600,000 total minutes viewed in the last 60 days. This can include on-demand, live or previously live videos. This does not include minutes viewed from crossposted, boosted or paid watch time.
- Page has at least five active videos. Videos can be on-demand or previously live, but this does not include active crossposted videos.
Additional requirements for live videos
- At least 60,000 minutes of the 600,000 total minutes viewed in the last 60 days must include minutes viewed from live videos.
Have 10,000 Page followers
Videos must be published from a Page that has at least 10,000 followers.
Be in an available country and language
Review our current (but growing!) list of supported countries and languages.
Publish videos eligible for in-stream ads
To be eligible for in-stream ads, your videos must be at least one minute long. If your content is longer than three minutes, we recommend that you program your content to have a natural break at the one-minute mark. Please note that while in-stream monetisation supports content less than three minutes long, the requirements around publishing 3-minute video content must be met in order to include in-stream ads in your videos.

Branded content access and policies
Before you can tag a business partner in a branded content post, you need to request access.
To use Brand Collabs Manager, you need to apply.
Branded content in published posts on Pages or profiles must comply with our Branded Content Policies, which don't allow certain forms of branded content, such as roll ads or banner ads.

Violations and appeals
If your content fails to meet our standards or follow our policies, it may be flagged for an enforcement action. These include reducing or removing your ability to use our monetisation tools.
Violations
Individual violations of our standards may lead to the disabling of monetisation tools for one specific piece of content. However, serious or repeated violations could cause your entire account to lose access to in-stream ads and other monetisation tools. Check the monetisation status for all your videos in your Creator Studio Content Library.
Appeals
If you believe that one of your videos has been demonetised incorrectly, you can submit an appeal directly to our reviews team. An appeal can only be submitted once for each demonetised video that your Page has posted. Appeals are typically answered in seven days or less.

The good news is, Facebook now has multiple ways to help you become a full-time content creator right on their platform.

But First, Who Can Monetize Facebook Videos?
Until recently, Facebook video monetization was only possible for a small number of Facebook partners.
Now, Facebook has a number of monetization options that are available to content creators, but you’ll have to meet a certain criteria.
You’re eligible to make money on Facebook if:
- Your videos follow Facebook’s Community Standards, meaning your videos are free of graphic violence and hate speech.
- You abide by Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies, like sharing original content.
- You are the Admin for the Facebook page.
Consistently meeting these rules will put you in a great position to start making money from advertisers.

The Creator Studio is where you can manage your Facebook video monetization and track its performance.
1. Leverage the Brand Collabs Manager
Have you been looking for an easy way to connect with major brands to make your influencer dreams come true?
Facebook’s Brand Collabs Manager sets up influential content creators with brands to pitch their products and services.
To monetize your Facebook page with these partnerships, you need to have at least 1,000 followers and one of the following:
- 15,000 post engagements over the last 60 days.
- 180,000 minutes viewed over the last 60 days.
- 30,000 1-minute views for 3-minute videos over the last 60 days.
Adding branded content to your Facebook page can improve your revenue and your follower engagement, but it’s far from the only option.
2. Set Up Subscriptions
Maybe you’re looking to avoid corporate partnerships and would rather stay independent. Good news, you can still make money on Facebook.
Subscriptions, formerly known as Fan Subscriptions, puts your content behind a paywall so only your followers can see your posts.
Subscriptions has stricter eligibility requirements than Brand Collabs Manager. To put up your paywall you need:
- To have at least 10,000 followers or at least 250 return viewers.
- 50,000 Post Engagements or 180,000 watch minutes in the last 60 days.
If you decide to put content behind a paywall, you’ll need to make sure it’s worth the price of admission.
Think about sharing behind-the-scenes videos or hosting Q&A’s for subscribers only.
Remember to keep sharing free content as well so that you’re still engaging with the Facebook community at large and growing your followers.
How To Set Up Facebook Subscriptions
If your Facebook page is eligible for Subscriptions you can set them up yourself following these steps:
- Go to the Creator Studio on Facebook.
- Select the page you’d like to monetize and click “Start Setup.”
- Read and accept the Terms & Conditions.
- Setup your Facebook video payout account.
- Select the benefits the subscribers will get.
- Choose your subscription price.
- Wait for approval.
You can research what other video creators charge for their content if you need help deciding on a price.
It’s important you do your research, as setting the price too high may alienate followers, and setting it too low will have you missing out on well-deserved cash.
3. Use In-Stream Ads, AKA Facebook Ad Breaks
In-stream ads is a method of Facebook video monetization that most people are familiar with, whether they are content creators or viewers.
In-stream ads are played while your video is being viewed, and they come in 3 forms:
- Pre-roll ads: the ads that play before your video starts.
- Mid-roll ads: the ads that play during your video.
- Image ads: static ads that are displayed below your video.
To be eligible for in-stream ads, you need to have:
- 10,000 page followers.
- Videos that are at least one minute long.
- At least 600,000 minutes of view-time in the last 60 days.
- At least 5 active videos.
You can verify your eligibility in the Creator Studio.
How To Set Up In-Stream Ads
Facebook can automatically place ads in your videos based on where they think it will have the best results. It’s a great option if you want to save yourself some time.
This is the default option for in-stream ads, so all you have to do is:
- Select “Video” from the “Home” tab of the Creator Studio.
- Upload your new video.
- Select “In-Stream Ads.”
There is also the option to place ad breaks in the video yourself. To start, simply check the “Choose Placements” box in the In-Stream Ads section of the Creator Studio.
From there, you can:
- Add the cue points to your video where you’d like ads to appear.
- Make sure the ads are spaced out by at least 2 minutes.
- Select “Publish” to finish placing your ads.
You can still have Facebook improve your ad placements by selecting the “automatically adjust in-stream ad placements to improve your viewers’ experience” box.
This will move the ad by up to 10 seconds forward or back within the video to be in a better position.
Get the most out of your in-stream ads by strategically placing them at natural breaks.
Use cliffhangers right before the ad runs to keep viewers hanging on for what comes next the way successful television shows do.
4. And Monetize Your Live Streams
A big money maker for content creators is streaming live videos. You can bypass the need for advertisers and get paid directly by your followers.
Facebook monetizes live streams by letting viewers tip streamers with Stars, which are kind of like a digital currency.
Viewers can purchase Facebook Stars for $0.01 and send them to their favorite creators during live streams.
If a viewer missed a live stream, they can still tip the recorded video so long as it had Stars enabled.

There are 3 types of In-Stream Ads: Pre-roll and Mid-roll video ads and image ads.
Pre-roll video ads
Shown before the video plays. They are seen by people who searched for this particular content. The more viewers are looking for content, the more payout will be received by its author.
Mid-roll video ads
Displayed during video playback. They are suitable for videos that can be compositionally divided into parts. Since most people watch videos in the News Feed, we recommend that creators take this into account and include pauses for mid-roll video ads in their videos from the start. nine0006

Static advertising under video content. It allows you to monetize videos that are not suitable for mid-roll video ads (for example, comedy performances).
