Along with its personal uses for sharing content with friends and family, iPad Facebook Messenger has plenty of professional applications your business can use to keep in contact with customers and employees, including sharing photos of products and advertisements. You can attach a photo to a Facebook message, take pictures through Facebook Messenger and share images to the service through other native and third-party apps on your device. Take a look at the options you have to share photos with customers and staff.
Attach Photo to Facebook Message
To attach a photo to a Facebook message, you first go to the person's conversation in the Messenger app chat list on your iPad. To the left of the text field where you type messages, you'll see an icon that looks like a picture. That's what you tap to proceed with selecting an existing photo or video to share, explains Facebook.
Tapping that icon for the first time usually brings up a privacy prompt asking you to allow Messenger to access your iPad's images and videos. Tap "Continue" and then confirm whether you want to provide access to all photos or just specific ones on your device. If you want to change the access settings, Apple directs you to go into the iPad's Settings app at any time, select "Privacy," and locate Facebook Messenger through the "Camera" privacy option.
You should see a grid of your iPad's photos appear on the bottom of the Facebook message; tap one or multiple images and select "Send." You also have the option to tap "Edit" after selecting an image if you first want to crop the photo, draw on it, add a text caption, attach stickers and emojis, or change the settings for aspects like brightness and contrast. Make any changes in the editor that appears, tap "Done" and then tap "Send."
Share Photo to Facebook Messenger
You might want to attach a photo that is in some other app or on a website rather than saved to your iPad.
One option is to save the photo to your iPad's Photos app and then share it the usual way. However, Apple explains you could take advantage of the "Share" button – which resembles a box with an arrow pointing up – that appears in many other iPad apps and shows up if you long-press a website image on Safari.
When you tap this button, you see a list of apps you can use to share the picture, and one of these is Facebook Messenger. Tap Messenger's icon to see a dialog asking you to type any text message you want to send along with the image and choose the recipients. After you complete your message and chose one or more contacts, tap "Send" to share the image.
Note that some images sent this way may come in URL form where your recipient needs to visit the link to fully view the image. You also don't get access to Facebook's image-editing tools when you send a message through this method.
Take Picture With Facebook Messenger
If you want to take a new picture and send it through Facebook Messenger, you don't need to go to your iPad's Camera app to do so.
You'll find a camera icon in the Messenger chat window next to the button to send existing images. Tapping the camera icon usually shows a privacy prompt like with general image sharing, and after you agree to allow access, you see a screen where you can take the picture.
Options include using or disabling flash, switching between your iPad's back and front cameras and inserting filters. When you're ready to snap the picture, tap the shutter icon on the bottom like you would with the Camera app. Then, edit the picture using Facebook Messenger's image-editing tools before you tap "Send" to attach the photo to the Facebook message.

Facebook Inc. scans the links and images that people send each other on Facebook Messenger, and reads chats when they’re flagged to moderators, making sure it all abides by the company’s rules governing content.
If it doesn’t pass muster, it gets blocked or taken down.
The company confirmed the practice after an interview with Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg, published this week, raised questions about Messenger’s practices and privacy. Zuckerberg told Vox’s Ezra Klein a story about receiving a phone call related to ethnic cleansing in Myanmar. Facebook had detected people trying to send sensational messages through the Messenger app, he said.
“In that case, our systems detect what’s going on,” Zuckerberg said. “We stop those messages from going through.”
Some people reacted with concern on Twitter: Was Facebook reading messages more generally? Facebook has been under scrutiny in recent weeks over how it handles users’ private data, and the revelation struck a nerve. Messenger doesn’t use the data from the scanned messages for advertising, the company said, but the policy may extend beyond what Messenger users expect.
The Menlo Park, Calif., company told Bloomberg that although Messenger conversations are private, Facebook scans them and uses the same tools to prevent abuse there that it does on the social network more generally.
All content must abide by the same “community standards.” People can report posts or messages for violating those standards, which would prompt a review by the company’s “community operations” team. Automated tools can also do the work.
“For example, on Messenger, when you send a photo, our automated systems scan it using photo matching technology to detect known child exploitation imagery, or when you send a link, we scan it for malware or viruses,” a Facebook Messenger spokeswoman said in a statement. “Facebook designed these automated tools so we can rapidly stop abusive behavior on our platform.”
Messenger used to be part of Facebook; it was spun off into a separate application in 2014. Facebook’s other major chat app, WhatsApp, encrypts both ends of its users’ communications, so not even WhatsApp can see it — a fact that has made WhatsApp more secure for users and more difficult for investigators. Messenger also has an encryption option, but users have to turn it on.
The company updated its data policy and proposed new terms of service Wednesday to clarify that Messenger and Instagram use the same rules as Facebook does.
“We better explain how we combat abuse and investigate suspicious activity, including by analyzing the content people share,” Facebook said in a blog post.
Facebook is on the defensive after revelations that private information from as many as 87 million users wound up in the hands of political ad-data firm Cambridge Analytica without their consent. Zuckerberg has agreed to testify before the House next week and is holding a conference call Wednesday afternoon to discuss changes to Facebook privacy policies.
The company is working to make its privacy policies clearer, but still ends up with gaps between what it says users agreed to and what users think they agreed to.
The Messenger scanning systems “are very similar to those that other internet companies use today,” the company said.

How to send a file via Messenger to your phone (Android)
Do you want to send a file to a friend via Messenger, but the Android app only allows you to send photos and videos? There is a way to send any files by messenger from Android. See how to do it.
Facebook Chat on your computer handles the sending and receiving of any files within a conversation with a friend. In the chat window, you will find an attachment icon that allows you to send any file to a friend. This can be any file - a Word document, an Excel spreadsheet, a ZIP or RAR file, or an MP3 song.
However, things change when we try to do the same with Messenger on Android.
It turns out Messenger on Android doesn't allow you to send files - we can only upload photos and videos. Interestingly, when someone sends us a file from a computer, we can pick it up over the phone, but we can't send anything on the mobile app outside of images and movies. Where does this limitation come from? It's unknown, but it's worth knowing that you can bypass them. There is a way to send any files from your phone memory via Messenger on Android.
Unfortunately, the Messenger application does not have a function to download files other than images and videos, but this is normal. The solution is very simple - if we want to send a file to someone, all we have to do is open Facebook in a desktop browser and send the file from there.
To do this, open the Chrome browser on Android, then move the menu in the upper right corner using the three dots icon. From the list of available options, select "Computer version" . This will switch the browser to a mode in which each page will be opened in the same version as on the computer.
After selecting this option, sign in to the Chrome browser on m.facebook.com. . The mobile version of Facebook will be enabled, but in this version we will use a computer (that is, it will have a file transfer function). If this is your first time browsing Facebook from a browser, you will need to sign in to your account.
After switching to Facebook , use the top menu to switch to the dialog tab (Messenger icon) . A list of all your conversations will appear.
Select the friend you want to send from your phone and wait for the dialog screen to appear. In the immediate vicinity of the message input field, you will find a button for adding an image. In fact, this button allows you to send any files.
When you touch this button, the panel will pop up "Select Action" on Android, through which we can select what we want to send. Touch the fields here. "Documents" to go to the view all files function.
