How to See Who Viewed Your Instagram Videos in 2 Ways

  • You can't see who views your Instagram profile, but you can see who views stories and videos. 
  • For Instagram stories, you can see exactly who viewed your story while it's still live.
  • For video posts, you can only see the total number of views and users who've liked the posts.

While you can't see who viewed your Instagram profile, there are two ways you can track the viewers of video content you post on Instagram.

To see who viewed a video on your Instagram story, you'll have to tap the story while it's still live. The total number will appear in the bottom left hand corner. Tap to scroll and view the names of all the users who've watched the story.

For a video posted to your profile feed, tap the label underneath the post. Unfortunately, you can only view the total number of views but not the individual user names. You can, however, view the users who have liked it and, thus, have viewed it.

Here's how to see who viewed your Instagram videos.

Instagram offers no way to see who has visited your profile. 

While the list of Instagram profile visits is hidden, you can get a pretty good idea of who has been checking you out when they interact with one of your stories or video posts. 

How to see who viewed one of your Instagram stories

1. Open Instagram on your mobile device.

2. Tap on Your Story – the icon with your profile picture – in the top left hand corner. You can also access your story from your profile page. Both will show a colored ring around your circular profile picture.

4. You'll see a pop-up with the number of viewers and a list of the people who viewed the video. You can scroll through the list to see their names.

How to see who viewed your Instagram video

1. Open the Instagram app on your mobile device.

2. Tap the profile icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.

3. Find the video you want to see the views for and tap it.

Note: Videos will have a video player icon in their top right corner to make them easily identifiable.

4. Underneath the video, you'll see a total number of views as well as a few of the names of those who liked it. Tap on these labels to view more details.

5. In the details, you'll see the total number of views listed again at the very top; the individual viewers' names are not accessible. Scroll the list to see the names of everyone who liked the video, or use the search bar at the top to save time and search for a specific person.

You can only see who viewed certain content on Instagram. Here's how and what you should know...

Instagram has been the internet's favorite photo-sharing social media platform since its launch in 2010. More than 95 million photos are uploaded to Instagram every day, so maybe you're just a little curious as to whether you can see who views your Instagram posts, Story, or profile.

Here's what you should know about what you can track and how to see who viewed your Instagram posts…

Can You See Who Views Your Instagram?

Instagram is pretty lean on details about who views your profile and content. As such, it's not surprising that questions like, “can you see who viewed your Instagram post?” are quite popular.

To some extent, it's possible to see who viewed your Instagram photos and videos—but this only really applies to Stories. Unfortunately, the app doesn't have this same function for regular photo and video posts. As such, you can't see who views your Instagram photos or videos posted in your feed unless they've liked it or left a comment.

However, you can see how many views a video post has.

If you own a business account on Instagram, you can also see the number of visitors you had in the past few weeks or how many users saw your content in their feed. But you cannot view the list of usernames.

Regular posts are limited to information on who liked your photo and commented on the post.

How to See Who Viewed Your Instagram Story

So now that you know that you can see who views your Instagram Story during the day, how can you access this information in the app?

You just need to follow these steps:

  1. Open your Story by tapping Your Story at the top left.
  2. Swipe up on the screen. You'll see the number of people and account usernames of those who have viewed each photo or video in your Story. Only you are able to see this information.

If your Story has expired (it's been more than 24 hours since you posted it), you can check who has seen it up to 48 hours after it went up.

To do this, go to your profile. Then follow these steps:

  1. Tap the icon with three horizontal lines in the top right.
  2. Tap Archive.
  3. If you aren't already on the Stories Archive page, tap the title at the top of the screen to open the dropdown menu.
  4. Select Stories Archive.
  5. Tap the Story you want to check, and either swipe up on the screen or tap the icon at the bottom left.

The number of Story views includes replays. You may see a higher number of views than usernames if the same account has viewed your Story more than once.

If you're trying to get more eyeson your content, there are some things you can try to get more views on your Instagram Stories.

How to See How Many Views Your Instagram Video Has

You can check how many views your Instagram videos have, making them different from regular photo posts, which only show likes. However, if you want, you can hide the number of likes on your Instagram posts.

To check how many people have viewed your Instagram video, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your Instagram profile and tap on the video you want to check.
  2. Underneath the video, you'll see that your video has been a given number of views. Tap the [X] views option to see the total views and likes.
  3. The first number on the following screen is how many views your video has. The second number is how many likes your video has.

You cannot see all the viewers' usernames individually, but you can scroll through the list to see the usernames of everyone who liked the video. If you're searching for someone specific, you can use the search bar at the top.

The views total is only available for videos. For photos, the details pane will only show the list of users who liked it.

You'll also see a View Insights button beneath your posts if you have a professional Instagram account. For videos, instead of tapping [X] views, select View Insights to view more detailed information about your video.

On top of the total number of likes, views, and comments, you'll also see the number of shares and saves. Instagram also displays the number of accounts reached by the post and the impact it had on your profile in terms of visits and new follows.

Are There Any Third-Party Apps That Let You See Who Viewed Your Instagram Profile?

When your favorite apps don't have the function you wish they had built-in, what do you do? Some folks might go on a quick search for an alternative in the form of third-party apps. Don't be fooled by any applications that make this claim.

In an article in Reader's Digest, Alex Heid of SecurityScorecard notes: “Anything advertising a feature that shows who viewed your profile would not be a legitimate service and should be avoided as it is likely just an app that is there to collect data for those who use it.”

Instagram was acquired by Facebook in 2016, so it makes sense that there is some overlap between them. They have similar privacy settings, and you can't see who has viewed your Facebook profile, either.

Instagram Lets You See Some Details on Who Viewed Your Content

Maybe Instagram will consider adding something in the future to allow users to see who has viewed their photos. But in the meantime, the most you can do is keep an eye on who keeps tabs on your Stories and how well the videos on your feed do.

  • From “Profile” - the first version of events: the subscriber remembered that he had not seen the blogger in the feed for a long time, went to check zh̶i̶v̶ ̶l̶i̶ ̶o̶n̶ and opened a random post. The second version of events: the blogger bought an ad, new guys came to visit him and open posts directly from the profile.
  • From "Interesting" - the number of impressions of the publication in the "Interesting" section.
  • From “Other” - the number of impressions from third-party messengers / social networks and through the "Share" button.
  • There are also impressions from hashtags and geolocations, but only if they are placed (thanks, cap).

As a rule, all posts from the last year are opened first, arranged by coverage - from largest to smallest, but you can set filters:

How to view statistics on Instagram and what it means

How did the followers come across your account? What posts do they most often save, which ones do they forward to friends, after which ones do they most often decide to call or write? What cities do they live in? How old are they? What days of the week and what time of day are they most active on Instagram?

Statistics Instagram allows you to find out this most valuable information and, thanks to it, work more accurately with your audience and increase sales.

First of all, statistics must be activated

To access statistics, you must switch your account to a business profile. Click on the menu (horizontal stripes) in the upper right corner, select from the list "Settings" , then "Account" and "Switch to a professional account" .

Post statistics

Now under each post we have sentence "View statistics" . By clicking on it, we see several numbers.

What is reach on Instagram?

It shows how many people actually saw your post. For some, this figure may be shocking. What does it mean, for example, if you see such data in the "Interesting" section?

"Subscriptions - 2". This entry indicates that two people who saw your post decided to follow your account. That is, they were not subscribers before. How do you know how they came across your post? The answer may be further. nine0005

"Scope - 1026" . The post was seen by 1026 people, we have already talked about this. Curiously, more than half of these people (52%) were not our subscribers. How did they see our post? We will also look for the answer to this question in the following data.

"Impressions - 1597" . This entry means that the post was shown 1597 times. And Reach showed that our post was seen by 1,021 people – a lot less. How can this be? Very simple. "From the Main - 770" . That is, 770 people saw your post just in their feed. These are your followers.

"From hashtags - 582" . 582 people came across this post thanks to hashtags. Here is a possible answer to the question of how 52% of people who were not our subscribers found our post, and where these two new subscribers came from. All of them came to you by hashtag, and two of them became interested in the account and stayed. To see the account statistics, we again need to go to the menu (horizontal bars in the upper right corner) and click on the line "Statistics" .

Content tab

We are also told how many posts and stories we had in total in the last week (45) and how this compares to the previous week (5 more).

We can sort both posts and stories by different parameters and for different periods. By clicking on the button " All ", we get the opportunity to select posts with the most likes - for this we need to select the line with the word "Like marks" . Or the one with the most comments. Or separate those posts, after viewing which readers started calling you - for this you need to select "Calls" . Or the ones that reposted the most.

You can also see the most successful posts by the sum of all these indicators - likes, comments, calls. To do this, select the first line - "Involvement" .

We can also make a selection for different periods - a maximum of 2 years, a minimum of 7 days. And see separately the comparative indicators of photo posts, video posts, carousels.

In this tab, you can see how reach, impressions, and other important indicators have varied over the past week - the number of visits to the profile, clicks on the site, clicks on the "Getting Directed" button.

Featured

The Featured section shows our total reach and impressions for the last week.

We see that the coverage was 3854 people, and it is very much reduced compared to the previous week. nine0005

Total impressions - 17698 people, and also a noticeable decrease compared to the previous period.

Also on the graph, we can see which days the coverage was more or less.

And by pointing a finger at this graph, we see specific figures - one and a half thousand coverage on Monday and Wednesday, almost the same on Tuesday, on other days much less.

Interactions

In the "Interaction" block, you can see how many visits to the profile, clicks on the site from the profile, clicks on the button "How to get there". nine0005

We are also shown a graph of the distribution of this activity during the week. We see that the most actions were on Wednesday - 57 pieces.

To see specific numbers, touch this graph with your finger.

"Audience" tab

In this tab, we can see how the number of your subscribers has changed over the past week, in which cities and countries your subscribers live, how old they are, what time they are most active.

Growth

This tab gives us information about the number of subscribers. In particular, about how many people have unsubscribed from us, how many have subscribed, and what the result is an increase - it can be positive and negative, when after all the subscriptions-unsubscribes, the number of subscribers has decreased.

In our example, 12 unsubscribed, 16 subscribed, the final result is plus 4 subscribers this week.

Below we see a graph of the number of subscribers. We see a failure on Saturday. We can press our finger on this failure, and we will be shown more detailed information about it. We see that on Saturday, December 7, three people unsubscribed from us and no one signed up. nine0005

And if we want to find out what kind of publications led to such a result, we can click on the button "View publications" and we will see just posts and stories for December 7-8 and statistics on them. In this way, you can understand which publications readers do not like. Although in our case the numbers are too small to speak of conclusions. Rather, they are within the bounds of statistical error.

Top locations

Below we can see information about the cities in which our subscribers live. nine0005

As expected, the Moscow children's center, whose account we are considering, has the majority of subscribers from Moscow.

And by clicking on the button "Countries" , we will find out from which countries in what proportion we have subscribers. Also, most are expected from Russia, but there are also from Kazakhstan, the USA, Ukraine and even Brazil.

Age range

In the next section, we can see what age men and women are in our account.

We see that our subscribers are dominated by people aged 25 to 34 years, slightly less women and older men - from 35 to 44 years old. nine0005

Interestingly, our account is also followed by schoolchildren under the age of 17 and older people over 65. Where Instagram has gone!

Gender

Here we are shown that 71% of our subscribers are women, only 29% are men.

Followers

This section is called “Followers” ​​for some reason, although it would be more correct to call it “Followers Activity”, because that is what it shows: at what time of the day and what days of the week your followers are most active on Instagram.
