To use them, you need to record a video in the story and wait for the result - after a few seconds of sorting through the pictures, the filter will show which character from Disney, Harry Potter or Pokemon you are. Soon, the social network began to make prediction filters for 2020, and then everything reached the point of absurdity - users figured out who they were from "meaningless inanimate objects."
All masks can be found in the profile of the specified author on the filters tab. This tab is only available from the app and does not appear on the web. One of the first "filter tests" was created by the Spanish-speaking user @kevinsstorm. In mid-December 2019, he created the "Which Disney Princess Are You?" mask. The filter spread among Instagram users thanks to a chain reaction - users took a mask from the stories of those they followed.

Therefore, people are unhappy when they get a weak and useless magikarp in battle.
By posting stories with filter tests, Harry Potter or Disney fans can connect with other fans of the franchise and read reactions to results with certain characters. For example, a Slytherin-adoring user would share the pain of being sorted into Hufflepuff.
Even if the user comes across a character they can't identify with, they still form a stronger bond with other people who know the franchise and can respond to the story.
