Resolved: Not receiving whatsapp notifications to match my current settings

I just got my S10 and I have to say I love it - it fits me perfectly!

However, I'm struggling with an extremely annoying problem - randomly (probably 75% of the time) if I receive a WhatsApp message my phone won't vibrate (or play a notification sound if my phone is on loud). I have an always on screen on and I can tell I have a new message because the icon is on the screen, however my phone is usually in my pocket so I miss 75% of the messages because whatsapp won't vibrate the phone accidentally .

All notification settings look ok and I think it works fine for about an hour or so after rebooting the phone and then it starts dropping notifications randomly again. No other app has this issue, everything else matches my alert settings.

This is my main messaging application and this problem is preventing me from working. Has anyone had similar problems or know of any fixes?

Thank you!
