The trick to sending large files on WhatsApp lies in uploading these files on Google Drive and then sharing that link with the receiver on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. It is easy to use. It is loaded with features that enable users to share creative messages with their friends and family. And best of all, it allows users to share media files and documents, including PDF files and Excel sheets, with other users.
But even this feature has some limitations.
WhatsApp allows users to share files that are up to 100MB in size. For videos recorded using WhatsApp, this limit is 16MB. If a user tries to send a file that is bigger than this limit, the Facebook-owned messaging app will show an error message to the user. But thankfully there is a workaround that enables users to share files that are much larger than 100MB using WhatsApp. Enter: Google Drive.

Content:
WhatsApp won't let you send if your video exceeds the minimum limit of 16MB or attachments are under 100MB. Even the video exceeds the minimum limit as you know whatsapp allows you to edit in real time and send it in parts. Although it is a secondary way, if the video is over 16MB, you can send it using WhatsApp's Document option, but you can't cross the 100MB mark, and you'll need the Google Drive app or WhatsTools app for that.
To send a large video or file larger than 100MB to WhatsApp, you can use Google Drive to download the file first and then send the link. Alternatively, you can use the WhatsTools app to upload videos there and send the link to WhatsApp users.
WhatsTools is recommended for sending large files to WhatsApp users when your disk is full or has a file upload limit.
In this article, I will introduce various ways to send large files, including compressed files, large videos and large mp3 files, to any WhatsApp users from your mobile phone.
WhatsApp file size 16MB vs 100MB vs over 100MB -
explainedThere are some conflicts in understanding the file size limit in WhatsApp. WhatsApp restricts sending a file of a certain size in different ways. Let's talk about it:
- Whatsapp restricts uploading or sending videos larger than 16 MB [as video].
- To counter this limit, you can select the time in the video and send parts of it, each part being 16MB or less.
- Also, sending document files or zip files has a 100MB limit, which means you can simply create a video zip archive that is less than 100MB that can be sent as a document.
- Thus, audio files, documents, PDF files and other files can be sent to WhatsApp with a size of less than 100 MB.
This article will now explain how to send WhatsApp files that are GB or more than 100 MB from iOS and Android devices.
Send audio files larger than 16 MB to WhatsApp
Sending files larger than 16MB is not as important as sending files larger than 100MB. WhatsApp's Documents option will allow you to send any type of file that is larger than 16MB but not larger than 100MB, even if it's video or audio files.
To send an audio file larger than 16 MB to WhatsApp,
- First of all, open your WhatsApp and then go to the chat of the person you want to send the file to.
- Now in the type box on the right side, click the attachments icon and then select the Document option to send the file.
- This option will allow you to send files between 16 MB and 100 MB. Now select any file and send it by clicking on the button.
Send files larger than 100MB to WhatsApp - Google Drive
The recommended file size for WhatsApp messenger is 100 MB. To exceed the size limit, you need to follow these steps:
if you are on your Google Drive that has free space left, just upload it and send the link.
To send a large WhatsApp file via Google Drive:
- First of all, check the file and rename it to upload to Cloud Drive.
- Now select the file and click on the share icon to select Google Drive and upload.
- Then upload the file to Google Drive.
- In the upper right corner of the screen, click "Share".
- Click "Get Sharing Link" in the top right corner of "Share With Others".
- Select Access Restriction using the down arrow.
- Now to download the file, click "Share" and paste the link in the WhatsApp chat of the person you want to send the file to.
For iPhone:
For iPhone users, you'll need the assistance of an iCloud drive, although the drive must have free space to download the file.
- Simply upload the file to the iCloud drive you want to send to WhatsApp.
- Now just share the link in the chats of the people you want to send the video to.
Send large files on WhatsApp using the app [more than 100 MB]
There is another alternative way to send large files that are too big to be sent via WhatsApp. This method is done with a third party app: WhatsTools File Sharing Tools. You just need to use this tool to download the file and send the link to view and download accordingly. The most amazing feature of using this application is its tracking, that is, the ability to track file views and downloads.
To send files larger than 100 MB using WhatsTools in WhatsApp,
- First of all, install the WhatsTools app on your mobile phone.
- The download bar will be on the first page of the application, select the video or document you want to send to this person.
- Even if your video is larger than 100MB, you can still send it through the "Video" option.
- Now that the file has been uploaded, it can be shared on WhatsApp.
- Finally, just select the chat you want to send the person to and the file will be sent with the file size and link information.
That's all you need to do to send large videos or documents to WhatsApp if the app won't let you.
How to send videos to WhatsApp without compression?
If you want to send any video using compression, size reduction, or send via the document function, you don't have to do this hard work.
Video compression will degrade video quality. To upload a video to WhatsApp, follow these steps:

- Then click the attachment icon and select documents.
- Click to view other documents.
- Select the video you want to share.
- Popup message confirming whether the video should be forwarded or not

Note: If the video is less than 100MB, you can send it directly to any chat, otherwise you will have to use Cloud Drive help such as Google Drive or iCloud.
Totals:
If you want to send large video or audio files on WhatsApp and if they are less than 16MB, you can send them directly as documents, but in case it is more than 100MB, just use cloud drive or WhatsTools app and the steps are already are given. in this article above.
Send attachments. Link tracking.
How to send attachments
To send an attachment, create an empty block and open the block editor on the right side of the menu.
The uploaded attachment must be no larger than 20 Mb
All attachment settings are located in the "Attachment settings" section. Let's take a closer look at the badges that have appeared0038 .
Ref
The first badge is Ref . In the field that appears, you can add a link (attachment URL) for the client to navigate or drag the file you want to transfer with the mouse (it will be shown in a separate link).
The attached file will be sent as a link from the salebot.pro server.
The uploaded file takes precedence over the link to the file. If you provide a link and attach a file at the same time, the file will be sent.
There are 2 sliders below the URL field.
Slider: With click notification - means that when the user clicks on the link, the bot will return a response in the form: link_was_pressed and links separated by a space. What is it for? Using this event, we can separate users into those who followed the link and those who did not. And second, for example, you can "warm up" by sending them reminders. By default, the click notification link looks like "https://sblnk.ru/{proxy_id}". You can set your domain to generate notification links. To do this, specify it in the project settings:
Please note! The domain IP address for work in Russia should be 51. 250.88.121, abroad - 138.68.73.64
Then the link with the click notification will look like: "https://{your domain}/{proxy_id}/s":
An example of using your domain to generate short links
Slider: Show links preview - means that in messengers, in addition to the link itself, you will see what file you are sending
Video attachment
Icon - Video attachment: select when sending a video. In Whatsapp, the video is displayed only as a link. If you need other messengers to send a video from YouTube just as a link, then you can run the link through any link shortener or send it as an attachment with a click notification.
In Vkontakte, video is loaded only from Vkontakte or YouTube. If you need to attach a link to a video from other platforms, use the attachment via link.
It is better to attach a video with a link from any video hosting. Video files no larger than 20 MB are uploaded to the Salebot server.
Picture
Icon - picture choose when sending pictures
Icon - file use when sending documents and any other files.
Icon - Audio use if the type of file being sent is audio format.
The audio file must be in . ogg format and be less than 1Mb
Telegram example
Let's get down to practice! Let's add automatic sending every 3 seconds to our bot. In each block, we will add different types of attachments and see how it looks in the Telegram messenger. In the last block, let's add the attachment type "Link with redirect notification"
Figure 4
In the figure below, you can see how all these messages look after they are sent. The sending order is followed: link, video, picture, file, audio, link with notification.
Figure 5
Now let's add two more from the last block. In one we will write "Followed the link" in the second "Did not follow the link". In the Condition field for the first block, write: link_was_pressed https://chatter.salebot.pro/s/5585. The condition for the second will be an empty arrow with a delay of 10 seconds. That is, if the user has not followed our link within 10 seconds, then he moves to the "Did not follow the link" block (Figure 6).
Important: don't forget to turn on the "Cancel when moving to another block" switch in the arrow with a 10 second timer, and uncheck the "Display as button" slider in the arrow with click notification.
Figure 6
Where do you get the click notification from?
Option one: manually enter a link space in the link_was_pressed format.
Option two: we go through our entire chain in the bot to the end and click on the link. On the left, go to the "Clients" menu and go to our last dialogue. The last message in the bot will be the link we need (Figure 7).
Figure 7
Now you can send various types of files/attachments, as well as track clicks on links using the chat bot. You can use this functionality both for everyday purposes (mailings, sending checklists, etc.
