It is clear that the Teacher is not in such a creative agony as Nikita Sergeevich and in general, but the script is somehow careless and a lot of prettiness of a dubious kind (it is noticeable that they will make a typical Russian series out of this).
A potentially cool mystical-conspiracy line was outlined as a dotted line in the film (everyone laughed at it, of course, but in my opinion the most interesting thing is there), but it fell into nowhere; the love line is nothing special, a typical passion story with dramatic music, done as delicately as possible (but kisses in brocade and screams in the rain are still in place). The most expressive male role is in Kozlovsky (he portrays a shifted admirer of Matilda), perhaps the Teacher spied on Naishuller that Danila was going to play madness, but his branch was cut to the point of insulting. From everything there is a feeling of some kind of compressed spring, a swing for a ruble, the result rattles with trifles for travel, but, oddly enough, it was not boring, it hurt too.

Shot on 16mm film, almost everything in close-ups and 90% of the time in Noel's frame. On Christmas eve, a magical story takes place with this disappointed life and a recent breakup with a girl. This is the perfect American indie - light, subtle, cozy, sometimes funny or sad, and for a debut, in general, very, very powerful. We suddenly release it on January 1 in a limited release, although the film was shot back in 2014.
Do not watch boring Christmas and New Year films, watch it. Well, or some thread from Die Hard, better than the second.
