Between AR filters, real-time content curation, and the option to bling out your photos with stickers and copy, you could spend hours spiraling down the rabbit hole of Instagram Live Story content. In March 2020, Instagram confirmed to Bustle that it's also seeing a "significant" uptick in Instagram Live engagement. But what happens if you miss your favorite influencer or blogger's live video that you’ve been hoping to see? Can you re-watch someone else’s Instagram Live video? Don’t fret — Instagram has heard your prayers, and they've answered.
Thanks to the Instagram Live replay feature, a user’s best moments don’t have to be one-hit-wonders and can live on for their followers to watch again. Users can share Instagram Live videos to their Stories so that viewers can re-watch them for up to 24 hours after they originally aired, or they can share them to IGTV or pin them to their Highlights. But should the creator choose not to share the Instagram Live video, the content will disappear when the Live video ends. (They’ll always have it, however, because the Live video is automatically saved in their Instagram Live Archive.) Ahead, everything you need to know about rewatching another user’s Instagram Live videos.
How To Rewatch A User’s Instagram Live Video
If you’ve been wanting to see that clothing haul from your favorite influencer and somehow you missed their Instagram Live, chances are you’re going to be pretty upset. Not to worry, there are still ways you can potentially catch up with their Live. An important FYI, however: These techniques will only work if the user chooses to reshare their Live.
1. Go To Their Instagram StoryFirst things first: Because a user has the option to share Live moments on their Stories for up to 24 hours after filming — the standard shelf life of a normal Insta Story — you have the chance to catch it there. Pop on over to the user’s profile and check out their Instagram story. If you see a colorful ring around their profile picture, chances are it could be the Instagram Live video from earlier. Tap the play button to rewatch the original Instagram Live video and browse through its comments and likes. The feature also includes backtrack and fast-forward functions (up to 15 seconds) as well as an option to reply.
If you’re the creator trying to share your Live, when you’re done with your video simply toggle over to the "share" button at the bottom of the screen to add the replay option. (Not interested in chronicling your masterpiece? Toggle over to "Discard" to let the Story expire as usual — you can also save the Instagram Live story to your camera roll for your own future enjoyment by tapping Download Video, but FYI, comments, likes, and viewers don’t get saved. )
2. Watch On IGTV
Another great option if you missed a user’s Instagram Live video is to check out their IGTV feed. In 2020, Instagram released a feature that allows you to share your Instagram Live Videos to your IGTV. Instead of just sharing the Instagram Live as an Instagram Story, the user can also immediately add it to their IGTV feed for a more permanent option. Although the video will be available, comments and likes that appeared during the live video will not appear.
3. Check Out Their Instagram Highlights
Just like a user can pin an Instagram Story to their highlights in their bio, users can also pin an Instagram Live Video. This can be done if a user chooses to reshare their Live on their Instagram Story. If they do this, the same steps apply as though they are sharing a regular Instagram Story: Tap the + sign next to the Instagram Highlights, and choose the reshared Instagram Live to add to the highlights. Make sure to double-check Instagram Highlights, because there’s a decent chance that the Instagram Live you missed could be hiding there.

How to Watch Someone's Instagram Live Video Without Them Knowing
Ever since Instagram launched the live story function, people cannot help but watch these videos repeatedly. A live video function has allowed content creators to post long videos showing detailed tips on a particular topic.
If you have been using Instagram for a while, you must have noticed how you can know who viewed your story. When you watch someone’s story, the list of viewers will show up right on your screen, giving you an idea of who viewed your story.
Now, there are times when you want to watch someone’s Instagram live without them knowing or without revealing your name.
Perhaps, you would like to stalk someone’s live video but you don’t want to expose yourself.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to watch Instagram live without them knowing.

Is it Possible to Watch Instagram Live Without Them Knowing?
Unfortunately, you can’t watch someone’s Instagram live video without them knowing. When you join a live video, the user hosting the video and other participants get a notification telling that a user has joined the live. Your name will appear on the screen as soon as you join the video.
Basically, Instagram does not have any built-in tool for hiding your name. You can’t really avoid getting seen by the host unless you are watching the story and live videos of a person with hundreds of thousands of followers.
There is a chance the person hosting the video might not see your name if they get hundreds of participants joining the live at the same time. It’s only normal to miss who has seen the video when you have so many people joining. But that rarely happens. Besides, you never know if they will catch you joining them.
However, there are some ways to join someone’s live Instagram video without revealing your identity. These methods work 100% given that you use them as instructed.
Let’s take a look at a few tips for watching someone’s Instagram live without them knowing.
How to Watch Someone’s Instagram Live Video Without Them Knowing
1. Use a Fake Instagram Account
People do it all the time. Whether it is for stalking someone or scrolling the feed, a fake Instagram account comes in handy when you need to join someone’s live video anonymously. There is no way the user can know you have watched their video when you join with a new account. All you have to do is sign up for a fake Instagram account with your email address or phone number, search for the target account, and tap on their story.
You will enter their live videos without disclosing your name. However, this method doesn’t work if the target user has a private profile. You need to send them a follow request and wait for them to accept it so that you can get access to their feed, including the stories, posts, live videos, and so on. So, this method works only if the user has a public account or they have already accepted your follow request.
2. Change Your Username for a Short While
Another great trick to watch someone’s Instagram live is by changing your Instagram username for a short while. If you don’t have a separate account or you simply don’t want to use a fake profile to stalk someone, the best thing you can do is change your Instagram username.
It takes only a few seconds. Go to your Instagram profile page, click on the “edit profile” button. Remove the current username and replace it with a new name. You can also change the name that appears right below your profile. Select the right tick icon located on the top of the screen to save changes. Once you have watched the video with a new username, you can switch back to the original name.
3. Wait for Them to Save the Video
Instagram has enabled an option allowing people to save the live video on Instagram after the video has ended. If you are 100% sure the host will save the video for their audience to watch later and for those who couldn’t join the live video, the best thing you can do is wait.
Let them end the video so that you can watch it after 24 hours of uploading. This way the target will not know that you have watched their live. You don’t have to create a fake account or change your username. Your name won’t show at all – no matter which profile you use to get access to these live videos.

How to watch live on Instagram
The rapidly growing Instagram application used for sharing photos and videos is at its peak today. With each update, users are offered more and more opportunities, thanks to which the social network is already becoming global. The implementation of the live broadcast function further fueled the interest of the public. In fact, this is an online video recording with the possibility of commenting, which can also be saved. Thanks to this feature, celebrities, businessmen, bloggers, as well as ordinary users can broadcast live for various purposes (for example, communicating with fans, live advertising, informing subscribers about the company's work, services, and other points). Mere mortals can now reach for the stars by spying on someone else's life through Instagram. People whose accounts were created in support of their professional activities have new opportunities to increase interest in their person, product, etc.
The idea, by the way, is not new, similar functionality has already been implemented in Facebook and Periscope, however, a new feature in Instagram that appeared in early 2017 attracted everyone's attention and was warmly received by the public. So now live broadcasts on Instagram are the number one trend. Anyone can capture the attention of an audience. At the same time, the live broadcasts of Instagram profile owners do not always carry a semantic load, so do not be surprised if the host of the broadcast behaves strangely, inappropriate behavior is not uncommon. Since the function is available to everyone and everyone, in a fit of frantic desire to speak out and express themselves, users sometimes forget about decency. Basically, the broadcasts are still thematic and are created for a specific purpose, whether it is attraction to a business, contact with subscribers, training, etc., or maybe the broadcaster just wanted to share his thoughts on any occasion. Not all users know how to find and watch a live broadcast on Instagram, we will deal with this issue.
How to find a live broadcast on Instagram
Broadcasts are displayed on the top bar above the news feed, where the stories are. So, if the user you are following is now live, then the thumbnail of his account will be surrounded by a colored ring, and the corresponding inscription “Live” will appear under it. You can join the view from the profile of the person who records the video online (a standard button in the form of a triangle "Play" will be available at the bottom of the user's avatar). Only the user who organized the shooting can save content to devices for subsequent publication or other purposes, but this function is not available to viewers, so other people's saved broadcasts can be viewed when the profile owner posts them on their page. At the same time, at the top of the record, it will be indicated when this broadcast was held.
Popular Instagram live streams can be viewed from the main search page. At the same time, the video is available in the recommendations if it is viewed by more than 500 users. You can receive notifications about the start of broadcasts if you subscribe to a profile. Thus, the organization of communication with subscribers is more efficient. The profile owner also has the opportunity to hide the broadcast from certain persons by specifying them in the settings, because no matter what the purpose of the broadcast is (increase the number of subscribers, inform about something, etc. ), different personalities can join it, including including unwanted ones.
How to watch from your phone
You can connect to the broadcast at any time of the broadcast, you don't have to log in at the beginning, and you can also watch a friend's recorded live broadcast if he posted it on his Instagram page. A confident user does not have questions about how to do this, but many users have just begun to join the ranks of Instagram fans and have not yet had time to navigate. Watching a broadcast from an iOS or Android phone is very simple:
- First you need to open the application on your smartphone and log in.
- We see thumbnails above the publication feed, select the desired profile (in a colored circle with the inscription “Live”) or find a popular broadcast in the search. If you are not subscribed to the user whose broadcast you want to watch, you can find him in the search, after which by clicking on the main photo (avatar) we connect to the live broadcast (the owner will see the users who have joined).
While watching, you can leave comments in the comment box below, click likes, and if you do not keep up with the unfolding events on the air, you can rewind the chat.
How to watch from a computer
The web version of Instagram has limited functionality, so you will need to install additional tools to watch live on a computer. There will be no problems with this, the necessary software is available on official resources (in the application store, on the developer's website). You can provide conditions for the ability to watch live broadcasts on the Instagram social network from a computer using the following tools:
- Android emulator.
- Instagram application.
- Browser extension.
Android emulator
We will emulate the Android environment on a computer in order to run a mobile application using the popular BlueStacks application. If you have an emulator, by launching it, you get the opportunity to work in exactly the same way as if you were using a smartphone, including downloading and using mobile software. First, the Android simulator needs to be installed into the system by downloading the distribution kit from the official website of the developer. The procedure is standard - download, select the installation path, accept the terms of the agreement, after which the installation is performed automatically. Next, do the following:
- Launching BlueStacks. At the first start, you will have to wait a little while the program scans the system and applies the appropriate settings.
- Upon completion of the setup process, you need to log in to your Google account.
- After logging in, go to the "Application Center" tab, from where any Android applications will be available to us. In the search field on the right, we drive in the query Instagram.
- Among the results, select the first official Instagram client in the list and install it by pressing the appropriate button, after installation the software will appear in the "My Applications" tab.
- Click on the Instagram icon, after launching, enter your profile authorization data.
- Now, you can watch users' live broadcasts on Instagram through a computer in the same way as on a smartphone. At the top of the interface, thumbnails of friends' profiles are available, and those who are broadcasting will be marked. Select the broadcast by clicking on the avatar.
Instagram application under Windows 10
For earlier versions of the Windows operating system, for example, if you have "Seven", this method will not work. We use it in the case when the computer is "Ten". To watch live on Instagram from a computer, do the following:
- Installing an application from the Microsoft store.
- Run the software, enter the profile authorization data (if missing, create it).
- Stories will now be available at the top of the interface. If a user starts a broadcast, their profile thumbnail will be marked with a "Live" icon and you can join to watch the broadcast.
Browser extension
Another way to watch Instagram live is to install the special Chrome IG Story add-on for the Google Chrome browser, for which we follow these steps:
- In the Chrome browser, go to the extension store.
- In the left block in the store search bar, enter the query Chrome IG Story.
- Select the desired add-on from the list of results and install it by pressing the corresponding button, confirming the action.
- After installation, the extension will be available in the browser section (three dots in the upper right corner of the interface, select "Additional tools" - "Extensions"), where you can manage all installed add-ons (enable, disable, remove).
- Click on the extension icon, as a result of which a window with user stories will open, to go to the broadcasts, click "Explore", live broadcasts will be available here. To join the viewing, simply click on the desired broadcast.
Broadcasts can be searched by name, tag or geolocation. In addition to accessing live broadcasts, you will also have the opportunity to download user stories to your computer.
How to watch live on Instagram anonymously
The user who created the broadcast can only see the number of viewers. You can see who exactly is present only by comments and likes, as well as when a person has just joined. If you do not want to show your presence, act as an observer, just watch the broadcast without commenting or pressing hearts. At the same time, many do not want to show even their appearance for a short time. To watch stories or live on Instagram anonymously, you can use one effective spy method that does not even require an Instagram profile registration. We only need the Telegram messenger installed on the device. It is interesting, including the fact that it makes it possible to use functional bots for various purposes. So, to view stories and live broadcasts incognito, we will use the IgSpyBot bot built into Telegram:
- Open the messenger, go through the account authorization (create a profile if you don't have one) and go to "Contacts".
- In the search bar, enter the address of the @igspybot bot, select it when it appears in the results and add it to contacts.
- Launch the bot in the dialogue window with it.
- We send a message to the bot, the content of which will be @nickname of the user whose broadcast, stories, etc. we will watch. We put the dog in front of the name, we send it.
- In the menu that appears, select the user's broadcasts and the desired broadcast from those available in the list.
- We are waiting for the content to load, after which we can view or download to the device.
Live broadcasts on the net are far from new, and watching broadcasts, as well as creating them, is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. After reading the detailed instructions on how to do this, even inexperienced users do not have questions.

In order for a live broadcast to attract users, be interesting and useful to them, you need to prepare for the broadcast in advance.
How to prepare for a live broadcast
- Think over the topic of the broadcast. It is easier to start a monologue when there is a certain topic. As you speak, the audience will have questions for you to answer.
- Make an announcement. Be sure to announce the live broadcast in advance in the post and stories, indicating the topic and time of the broadcast.
- Gather questions. You can collect questions from subscribers under a post or in a story using a special function. This way you will know the degree of interest of the audience, you can better prepare for the broadcast and avoid awkward pauses.
- Invite a support group. The partner will always support the conversation, and then the rest will catch up, because many are afraid to be the first.
- Warm up the interest. Briefly tell what you are going to share with the audience, create intrigue.
- Make sure the audience is live. Use live broadcasts if you are sure that your subscribers are real live people. Bots do not watch broadcasts and do not ask questions.
- Motivate your audience. If you are afraid that no one will come to watch your broadcast, arrange a raffle among the participants of the broadcast and report it in the announcement.
How to start live TV
Live TV is started from the Stories screen. To start the broadcast, you need to swipe the screen from left to right and select the "Live" function at the bottom.
After that, you can switch the camera to the main or front camera and adjust the visibility of the live broadcast using the "Settings" button located at the top left.

During the broadcast, you will be able to see the number of viewers, read their comments, use masks, invite guests to broadcast, and accept or reject requests to join your broadcast.
Joint live broadcast
The difference between the joint broadcast on Instagram is that it is conducted by two users, each from their own account. The screen is divided into two parts, each of which is controlled by one of the users.
To start a joint live broadcast, you must also go to the story recording page and turn on the broadcast. Then, anyone who wants to join your broadcast can send a request to participate. You will only need to confirm it in the pop-up window.
You can also send an invitation to the user to participate in the broadcast. If he accepts the offer, you will record a joint live broadcast.
How to pin a comment
Only the person who launched the live broadcast can pin a comment. This option can be used to indicate the topic of the broadcast or to pin an answer to a frequently asked question.
To do this, write a comment, click on it and hold. You can also turn off all comments - click on the three dots at the bottom and select the "Turn off comments" function.
How to save the live broadcast
To end the broadcast, click "End" - this button is located at the top right. Statistics will appear on the screen, you can see how many people watched the broadcast and other data. Then you can save the recording of the broadcast for a day in your profile or download it to your phone.
