We tested four different ways to share content on Instagram in a few easy steps. All of these methods are free, but some require you to first download the app from the iOS App Store or Google Play.
To repost someone else's Instagram post, you first need to get that person's permission to reuse their content. You can then use an external application such as Repost for Instagram, Instarepost or DownloadGram . You can also take a screenshot using your mobile device.
Download Repost for Instagram for iOS or Android.
Both devices are compatible with this app, which integrates directly with Instagram so you can share other Instagram users' content from your mobile device.
Open the Instagram app and find the photo or video you want to repost from your Instagram account. Tap a selected photo from the original poster's photo gallery to see its full view, as shown below.
Once you're on the landing page of a photo or video, tap the "…" icon in the upper right corner of the post. Then click "Copy Sharing URL" (the button will look the same on Android devices).
Once the photo has been copied to your phone's clipboard, open Repost for Instagram.
The post you copied will automatically appear on the main page of the application, as shown below.
Tap the arrow to the right of the message. There you can change the way the Instagram repost icon is displayed.
Click "Repost". Then click "Copy to Instagram" where you can add a filter and edit the post.
Click Next. If you want to add a caption to the original post, tap the title field and click Insert, where the original caption will appear with a quote that matches the original poster with your reposted photo.
When you're ready to share the post, click Share as you would a normal Instagram post. Here's how this post appears on your Instagram profile:
Using the InstaRepost app
Download InstaRepost for iOS or Android devices to share other Instagram users' content from your Instagram account via your mobile device.
Allow InstaRepost to access your Instagram account Open InstaRepost, log in with your Instagram credentials, and authorize it to access photos, friends, and similar content associated with your Instagram account.
InstaRepost will only show you a small selection of your Instagram feed. If you know what post you're looking for, tap the magnifying glass icon on the bottom toolbar of the InstaRepost app to go to the Browse tab. Enter the name of the user whose photo you want to repost.
When you find the message you want to share, tap the arrow in the lower right corner. Then click "Repost", then "Repost" again. This will first save the photo to your mobile device's camera roll, from where you can retrieve it in the Instagram app.
Go to your Instagram app and click Library. You will see the message saved in your phone's camera roll.
Tap a photo to drag it to Instagram.
Add a filter and edit the message like any other. Then select "Next" and tap the title field to paste the original title. The repost will not automatically include a quote, so we suggest adding one by typing "@ + [username]" to indicate the content's original poster. Then click Share.
This is how this post appears on your Instagram profile:
Using DownloadGram
DownloadGram allows Instagram users to download high resolution copies of Instagram photos and videos for reposts from their accounts. Luckily, there is no app that needs to be downloaded to repost through this process. Here's how to do it:
Open the Instagram app and find the post you want to share. Tap the "..." icon in the top right corner of the message and tap "Copy Share URL" (this button will be the same for iOS and Android mobile devices).
Open your mobile internet browser and go to DownloadGram - or simply downloadgram.com. Paste the URL into the text box that appears on the home page of the website. Then click "Download".
Click the green "Download Image" button that appears next on the DownloadGram main page.
You will be redirected to a new web page with content ready to be downloaded. Tap the upload icon - a rectangle with an up arrow as shown below - then tap Save Image.
Go back to your Instagram app. The image will be saved to your phone's own camera roll, so edit it like you would any other Instagram post.
There will be no quote in the repost, so we suggest adding it by typing "@ + [username]" to add a photo or video to the original poster.
Then click Share. This is how this post appears on your Instagram profile:
This method does not require any or other websites to repost to Instagram. It's worthless that this method only works for reposting photos, not videos. Here's how to do it:
Search Instagram for the photo you want to post and take a screenshot using your phone.
Tap the new post button at the bottom of the Instagram screen. Resize the photo so that it is properly cropped in the Instagram photo editor.
Edit and filter the post like any other Instagram post. Remember that your phone will take a screenshot of everything on the screen, not just the photo you want to repost. So, get ready to crop the sides of the screenshot to capture the shot you want to share with your followers.
