Many of us use this feature on a daily basis. Still, there are people who don't know about it. Currently, more than 2 billion people in over 180 countries use WhatsApp to stay in touch with friends and family.

Sending a reply makes it easier for the receiver to understand what message are you referring too and texting back.

Interestingly, there are two ways of replying to a chat- one by long pressing and the second by swiping right. Here are the steps one can follow to reply to a specific message on WhatsApp- Individual or group chats.

WhatsApp allows users to embed previous messages in their replies, like a Quote Retweet on Twitter

WhatsApp – the world's most popular chat app – has quietly rolled-out a new way to reply to your messages.

The Facebook-owned messenger now allows users to embed previous messages in their replies, like a quote retweet on Twitter.

The new feature promises to be especially useful in busy group conversations, where it might not be immediately obviously which member of the group – or even which question – you are answering.

WhatsApp first pushed out the ability to embed other messages as an experimental new feature for the latest Android beta, v.2.16.118.

However the feature has also been spotted in stable releases of the Android and iOS version of the app – despite no update being pushed from iTunes or Google Play Store.

Express.co.uk has able to successfully use the feature on iOS in WhatsApp version 2.16.6.

To use the new feature, simply press and hold on the message you would like to include in your reply.

After a few seconds, a number of options will appear above the chat bubble, including Star, Copy, Info, Forward, Delete.

If you also see an option marked Reply, you have access to the new functionality.

Tap Reply and WhatsApp will generate a small preview of the selected message above the text field at the bottom of the app.

When you send your reply it will include a colourful thumbnail of your chosen message.

According to NDTV, those users who do not currently have the option available to them should try deleting and reinstalling the app.

However make sure your WhatsApp messages and media are backed-up before you uninstall the chat app.

To do this, navigate to Settings > Chats > Chat Backup > Backup Now.

The news comes as WhatsApp introduced support for animated GIFs in its latest beta.

Everyone in the group chat is able to see the embedded message

The social media account notes that version 2. 16.7.1 of the app will now autoplay GIF links and embed the animated images directly into your conversations.

Admittedly, that GIF support does not appear to be as fully-featured as Facebook Messenger, which lets users pick and send GIFs from a designated keyboard.

According to The Next Web, the WhatsApp changelog notes the updated app will be able to save GIFs "as a simple image."

WhatsApp is rumoured to be looking into adding video chat into its hugely-popular cross-platform messenger, too.
