How to Delete a Post on Facebook, or Hide Posts by Others

You can delete any post on Facebook that you created yourself.
It's easy to delete a post by choosing "Delete" from the three-dot menu on the Facebook app or your web browser.
You can hide posts made by other people so they won't appear in your Facebook feed, but you cannot delete them.

Most people have at some point posted something on social media that they later regretted.

But no matter your reason for wanting to remove a Facebook post — it's inaccurate, embarrassing, unflattering, something you wouldn't want an employer to see, or any other reason — you can permanently delete a post you've made on Facebook with just a tap or a click.

How to delete a Facebook post on the mobile app

1. Open the Facebook app.

2. Go to your timeline by tapping the hamburger menu (the three horizontal lines on the bottom right) and tap your name at the top.

3. Find the post you want to delete and tap the three dots on the upper right of the post.

4. Tap "Delete." Facebook will then ask you to confirm that this is really what you want to do — tap "Delete Post" to confirm.

How to delete a Facebook post on your computer

1. Go to Facebook in your web browser.

2. Go to your timeline by clicking your name at the top left of the window, just underneath Facebook's search box.

3. Find the post you want to delete and click the three dots on the upper right of the post.

4. Click "Move to Recycle bin."

5. In the pop-up, click "Move" to confirm. All posts that are moved to your recycle bin will be deleted after 3o days. If you want the post deleted immediately, you need to also delete it from your recycle bin.

6. To access your recycle bin, click the downward-facing arrow in the top right corner of the Facebook window. In the dropdown, click "Settings & privacy," then "Settings."

7. In the menu on the left side of the main Settings page, click "Your Facebook information" and then click "Activity log."

8. On the left side of the Avtivity log page, click "Recycle bin."

9. Click the three-dot icon beside the post you want to fully delete and click "Delete" in the dropdown.

10. Then, in the pop-up, click "Delete" again to confirm. Your post is now immediately deleted from your timeline and from your recycle bin.

How to hide Facebook posts created by others

Of course, you can only delete posts you have created yourself — you don't have the power to delete something that was posted to Facebook by someone else.

But if you don't like a post that you're tagged or mentioned in, you could ask the person who created it to edit or delete it. Alternatively, you have two other options:

You can hide it from your timeline. This isn't the same as deleting the post — and in fact, it may still appear in other people's timelines — but you can keep it from showing up in your own. To do that, click or tap the three dots on the upper right of the post and choose "Hide from timeline."

If you don’t want to see a post created by someone else, you can’t delete it, but you can remove it from your timeline.

If you're tagged in the post, you can remove the tag. This will prevent it from appearing in your timeline and from searches that include posts with your tag. To do that, click or tap the three dots on the upper right of the post and choose "Remove tag."

How to Delete a Facebook Post

We all have those shameful posts on Facebook we shared years ago. And sadly, Facebook loves to remind you of them. Fortunately, getting rid of them is easy.

To delete a post on Facebook using the smartphone app:

Launch the Facebook app on your smartphone.
Log in to your account and find the post you want to delete.

Tap on the three dots icon located in the top-right of your post.
Select the Move to Trash option from the list.
Confirm your choice by tapping on Move.

To delete a post on your computer using the web version of Facebook:

Head over to facebook. com.
Sign in to your account and open the post that you want to delete.
Click on the three dots icon.
Select the Move to Trash option from the dropdown menu.
Click on Move to finalize the process.

The post will now be moved to your account's trash bin. Keep in mind that deleted posts will remain in the trash for 30 days. The trash bin allows you to restore the posts that you deleted accidentally.

How to Mass Delete Facebook Posts

Some people have their timeline flooded with hundreds of posts they want gone from their accounts. In such situations, finding and deleting every post becomes tedious and time-consuming.

Luckily, Facebook has an option called Manage Your Activity which allows you to review the posts and status updates shared by you on your timeline. You can quickly go back and delete the posts that you don't want others to see.

To delete Facebook posts in bulk:

Open the Facebook app on your smartphone.
Tap on the Hamburger menu icon located in the top-right corner of your screen.

Go to your profile by tapping on your name.
Tap on the three dot icon.
Select Activity Log from the list of available options.

Select the option that says Your Posts.
Now, select all the posts that you want to delete from your account. You can also check the All option to delete every post on your timeline.
Once done, tap on the Trash option at the bottom of the screen.

The Manage Your Activity feature is not available for the web version of Facebook. You can only delete multiple posts using the app on your phone.

Tagged posts shared by Facebook friends and followers also appear on your timeline. You can delete such posts using the same steps as above. Removing people that you don't know from your friend list can also have a positive impact on your Facebook timeline, as fewer people will be able to tag you in their posts.

There are many reasons why you need to delete posts on your profile, and there are several ways to do it. Facebook provides the ability to delete posts from your page using any PC or mobile device.

On a computer

The removal process is quite simple:

Open the Facebook website through any browser installed on your PC and log in - enter your login and password.

How to recover a deleted post

How to delete one publication on Facebook
