How to link WhatsApp to Facebook

Link WhatsApp to Facebook from WhatsApp

Let’s start with the instant messaging app. Remember to make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version of the app.

  1. Open the WhatsApp Business app and tap on More options on Android or Settings on iOS.
  2. Tap Business tools.
  3. Facebook & Instagram. Choose the first, then tap Continue and log into your Facebook account.
  4. Once you’re logged in, choose the fan page you want to link to WhatsApp Business, and tap Connect WhatsApp. 
  5. Done! Now you’ll see a WhatsApp button on your Facebook fan page.

Link Facebook-WhatsApp from Facebook

Now we’ll add another player, your Facebook fan page. Remember to create your business page so you can link it to WhatsApp Business.

  1. Log into Facebook and go to the fan page you want to connect.
  2. Tap Settings and in the left column, with all the settings options, tap WhatsApp.
  3. Choose your country code, enter your phone number and tap ‘Send code’.
  4. When you get it, enter the code and tap ‘Confirm’.

I would say that is due to deep linking. In any of your apps you could add filters that trigger your app whenever the Android system tries to resolve an URL.

Probably the Facebook app has configured the deep link of thehttp://m.* urls

edit: I've tested it via adb and it is due to deep linking. You can test it with

adb shell am start -W -a android.intent.action.VIEW -d <URL>

as explained in the deep link documentation

This is the output:

As you can see the Activity launched is com.facebook.katana (the Facebook app).

Also, if you take a look to the Facebook app manifest (with some app like ManifestViewer you can see that it has some intent-filter to handle it:

How to open links in the desired application on Android

Surely you have been repeatedly sent different links to Aliexpress or just to some online stores. Very often, when you click on such links, a regular tab in the browser opens, instead of transferring you to the corresponding application with a convenient interface.   • If there are no links in the "Links that will open in this application" block, click the "Add link" button.
  • Check the boxes for all links that should open in the selected application and click the “Add” button.
