Facebook Messenger was a built-in feature of Facebook that grew to become a standalone app. With billions of active monthly users, it’s one of the most popular messaging apps after WhatsApp.

We’ve put together the steps for appearing offline to everyone or particular contacts, how to turn off your last seen timestamp, and some other tips for additional privacy whilst using the app.

Facebook Messenger app allows Facebook contacts to send each other messages and do all the things regular instant messaging apps do. Thankfully, Messenger has given us the option to hide from everyone or particular individuals, and various other ways to protect our privacy.
Now that we’ve shown you how to appear offline, how to block people, and send secret messages, how did you feel using Messenger without disturbance? Have you used any other methods for extra privacy whilst using the app? Let us know in the comments section below.
There are a few reasons why someone might want to hide their Facebook messages from prying eyes. The primary issue might be over concerns of privacy. What is said between you and a Facebook friend is your business and yours alone. It’s incredibly important to keep your chat messages private, especially when discussing something confidential.
Facebook allows you to hide any chat messages specific to selected friends of your choosing. It’s a rather simple process and you can just as easily un-hide them at a later point if you wish. However, if you’re overly concerned with hiding your messages, as what is being discussed is too private to get out, the best way to go is to delete them completely.
Even if it currently isn’t a risk, it is best to clean out your messages completely every once in a while.
The same can also be said about your Facebook Messenger app on your mobile device. They are no less private than those on the actual Facebook platform, seeing as they are the same messages. But if you only have access to Messenger from a mobile device, I’d like to go over how to hide them there as well.
In order to get your Facebook chat messages hidden from view, you’ll have to follow a few different procedures. I’ll be going over how to hide them on the browser version of Facebook, the Facebook Messenger app, and even how you can delete them efficiently.
Let’s begin with Facebook on the desktop.
For those of you who prefer visiting the actual Facebook site to hide your messages:
Head to facebook.
com/messages and log in with your credentials. Alternatively, you could just log in as normal and, from the list on the left side, click on Messages (or Messenger if you have it set up).
You can also click on the Messages icon at the top-right of the screen to open the drop-down. At the very bottom, you will see See All. Click See All. If Messenger has been set up, it will instead show as See All in Messenger.
Select the conversation from the list on the left side of the screen. This will open up the full chat history for you to view.
From the list, click on Hide. This will move all of the messages currently in chat history to a hidden folder that only you can access.
However, once that person contacts you again, the archived messages will appear in your inbox and you will have to redo all of the above steps.
To once again access the hidden messages, click the Cog Wheel icon above the contacts on the left side.
Click Hidden Chats and all of the conversations you’ve had archived will appear here.
The only way to have these reappear in your normal inbox is to receive a new message from the contact.
Deleting messages or full conversations can be done directly from the main page. Understand that deleting a message or conversation from your end will not do the same for the recipient. To delete a message or conversation permanently on your end:
Chances are pretty good that after setting up Messenger on your mobile device, you have it set to not require a password for login.
This is pretty standard fare for most people. I mean, you have your phone on you at all times, right?
Android and iPhones can easily be misplaced, lost, or stolen. If this happens, then all of your personal business is now likely in the hands of a stranger. It pays to plan ahead for such a disaster. So, aside from being smarter about how you handle your phone, you can also be smarter about hiding your messages.
You can begin protecting your Facebook Messenger privacy by ensuring that your Facebook and/or Facebook Messenger app is always up to date with the latest version. This helps protect your privacy from hackers a bit better as it contains the newest safety protocols and patches.
To hide Facebook Messenger messages for Android users:
Hold your finger down on top of the conversation to produce a few options.
To hide Facebook Messenger messages for iPhone or iPad users:
Launch the Facebook Messenger app. You can also tap on the Lightning icon from Facebook to pull up your messages. Locate the conversation in need of hiding.
By archiving your messages, you will no longer be able to access them through your mobile device. You’ll need to go to your account by using the browser option on a PC or Mac. This may seem a bit annoying but think of it as an extra layer of security. Anyone else with access to your phone will now not be able to view the hidden conversation.
You can also choose to go through the browser on your mobile device to access Facebook directly. If you’d rather not use Facebook Messenger, open the browser on your mobile device:
com and log in with your credentials.Hopefully, these tips will help you secure your messages in the event that you want to keep your communications private. Do note that even if you delete a message or conversation on your end, the other person still has it. If it is that important to you, the best way to get rid of it is to contact them and ask them to delete it. Also keep in mind that all conversations are saved by Facebook itself, and you can request access to a folder of everything you have ever done on the social media platform.
Your privacy is very much in your hands, and by using some of the tips in this article you can take steps to prevent information that you want hidden to keep from leaking out.

Any user of the social network Facebook can have one of three online status options:
This article will walk you through all the options available to you to change your privacy settings.
If you access your Facebook profile using a computer, that is, the full version of the site www.
facebook.com, then the sequence of actions to set up your online status will be as follows:
The people you add to the list in the field that opens will not be able to track information about your presence on the Facebook network. nine0028 If you use the Facebook App mobile application to access the Facebook social network, that is, you log in via a smartphone or tablet, then in order to hide whether you are online or not, and, therefore, the time of your last visit, you need to perform the following steps:
nine0028 In addition to the social network Facebook itself, the time of your last visit can also be tracked in the Messenger messaging application. In order to enable privacy settings in Messenger, you will need to follow these steps:
IMPORTANT. Your Online status, as well as the time you last visited Facebook, can also be tracked in Messenger. If you hide this information on your profile page, don't forget to hide it in the messenger as well.
You may have already noticed that as soon as you turn off the "Online" display in your settings, you no longer see if your friends are online and when they last visited.
The contact list, if you open Facebook from a computer, becomes a little dark. nine0028
And if you open the Messenger app for messaging, you won't see anyone marked "Online" in the "People" tab. But you can read a reminder from Facebook that in order to track the online status of your friends, you yourself must open your status for viewing.
This is a Facebook prerequisite: by hiding online information about yourself, you stop seeing the "Online" and "Recently visited" statuses of your friends.
CAUTION . If you block access to information about YOUR online presence, you will not be able to see the online status of other users.
Finally, one more important tip, which at first glance is not entirely obvious.
Remember to adjust your privacy settings on ALL devices and ALL apps that you use to access your Page.
If you use both a computer, a tablet, and a smartphone to log into your Facebook page, and also messaging in Messenger, you need to hide the Online setting on each device.
Otherwise, other users will see your presence online from those browsers where the status is not closed. nine0003
TIP . Check online privacy settings on all your devices and apps. If you are logged into an account with public access in any browser, then other users will see whether you are online or not and when you last logged in.
If you still have any questions about the privacy settings of the "Online" status, or you just would like to watch a video on this topic, then quite up-to-date information is displayed at the following links:

Social networks have long been an integral part of our lives. Many users do not want to disclose information about themselves and try to deny access to it. In this article, we will tell you about how to hide the date of the last visit on Facebook.

Facebook is very careful and demanding about the privacy of its users' data.
And this is quite logical, because the prestige of the brand, as well as the safety of customers, depends on this parameter. Any user should have access to a list of functions that will allow you to determine your social circle and, if necessary, hide this or that information from your profile. nine0003
Note: if necessary, you can set the settings so that only your friends or even a certain circle of people can see your information.
The social network Facebook never discloses information about visiting your page by certain users. A large number of scammers are operating on the network, who offer to install their software and, supposedly, solve this issue. But in reality, they steal personal data of users in this way and use it for their own purposes. Be carefull! nine0003
If Facebook does not provide this information on the main page of the site and even in the mobile application, then this restriction does not apply to Messenger.
This is almost the only way to track user activity in your profile.
Note: This is not a bug or error. This opportunity has become possible on purpose, so that communication with other people from the contact list is more convenient. nine0003
If a user needs to hide his presence on the site, for one reason or another, then this can be done even from the computer version of the Facebook site. It's easy to do this:
Note: in order to remain unnoticed from the application, you also need to disable this status in it. nine0003
Most users use the Facebook mobile app to stay connected. It is also easy to hide the status " Online " in the Messenger and in the smartphone program:
Important: to always remain unnoticed, turn off the status in all applications and the web version of Facebook. It is worth noting that a profile with hidden activity will be limited in functions by the administration and you will also not be able to track the activity of other users of the social network. nine0003
Additional applications and utilities may allow you to hide not only your presence, but also your read status. To hide this information, use the following software:
