Facebook Notes is over, completing a Facebook strategic flip-flop. But maybe you didn’t notice?
Here’s the announcement, which has only appeared as a message on the “Notes” tab on Pages:
“…Creating and editing notes will be unavailable after October 31. We know your posts are important, so any published notes will stay published on your timeline. However, any unpublished drafts will be deleted.”
You are probably not losing sleep over this. “Notes” wasn’t a popular publishing platform for most people. But originally, the Notes feature was an important part of Facebook’s long-term strategy as it pressed publishers for original content.
The idea was a mess from the beginning …
About three years ago I attended a meeting hosted by Columbia University. Facebook executives met with major New York City media companies, encouraging them to publish on Facebook. The meeting was extremely tense because the publishers hated Facebook. When Facebook re-purposed their content, it stole subscribers and advertisers. Their very existence was threatened.
But Facebook promised media outlets that publishing through something like Facebook Notes would result in new monetization opportunities and millions of new subscriptions. I didn’t see how that could happen and deep down, the publishers knew they were being scammed, too.

A year later, Facebook pulled the rug out from under publishers, declaring that it would not be a news outlet focused on content after all.
Facebook had learned (and is still learning!) that being a news outlet without accountability for the truth of the news was a slippery slope. Facebook gave up on the perilous content-first strategy and pivoted to an emphasis on Facebook Groups where controversial content attracts far less scrutiny.
I’ve published long-form content through Facebook Notes for the last five years. The reason is simple. The Facebook algorithm strongly discourages using links that direct someone off Facebook and away from their ads. So to get better exposure for my ideas, I published the whole enchilada on Facebook a few days after a post appeared on my own site. I don’t know why more bloggers didn’t follow this strategy.
Now that I don’t have an option to publish my content through Notes, my blog content will seldomly be seen on Facebook. In the big picture, this isn’t a huge loss. Facebook was never a significant channel for my work. It has always been a bit of a mystery why my Facebook friends enjoy my content on Facebook and don’t subscribe to my blog anyway … but that is a story for another day.
However, for some organizations, especially nonprofits who rely on Facebook as a pseudo web page, the loss of Notes will be traumatic. Existing notes cannot be edited, so, as information changes, page managers will have to choose to leave bad info posted, or possibly delete the posts (no indication if that option will be available).
Many organizations are losing a communication lifeline to their fans and donors.
Lesson: Don’t build your content homeroom on somebody else’s platform!
I haven’t discerned exactly why Facebook is discontinuing the feature other than it’s simply a little-used remnant of a failed strategy.
Facebook has been around long enough now that we take it for granted but it is still finding its way.
Here is a process that people are using to find their previously-published Notes:

FacebookSocial Media
By Richard Hebert September 10, 2022September 10, 2022
You can write your thoughts on social media in many ways.
But what if you want to write your thoughts and ideas structured, like an article? This is where Facebook notes come in handy. Unfortunately, Mark Zuckerberg has disabled the idea of using notes on Facebook.
The note used to be a way of taking down ideas, thoughts, impressions, e.t.c, in a safe place so as not to forget. So the feature is gone, and you can no longer use it, yet some users still have saved old notes. But what about Facebook notes that I have already taken? Where is it? How can we find it?
In this article, I will tell you how to find these Facebook notes in just a few easy steps!
Table of Contents
Facebook Notes is a service that lets you create blog entries using all features and formats.
It also enables you to link these posts to profiles and pages within the social media platform, like a blog. Then around October 2020, Facebook suddenly announced that it was removing the feature. And now, the piece that helps users publish works on Facebook is gone.
Facebook only disabled the feature, and you cannot write new notes. But if you had written some notes before that update, you can still access these notes. The following steps will help you gain access to your old notes. So read till the end and follow these simple steps to get it done!
You must log in to your account if you plan to access your old notes. Open your web browser on your computer and go to Facebook. If you don’t have your account logged in before, provide your information and click on log in. You’ll be redirected to your Facebook account news feed.
After successfully logging in, the next step is to access your settings and privacy.
To do this:
Once you click the settings button, it’ll load up its interface. You can then follow the next step to reach your old notes.
The next thing to do is to go to your Facebook information on your settings page. To do this:
If you follow the steps above correctly, it will take you to the “Access your information” interface.
You need to know that once you follow these four steps very well, you will find where your Facebook notes are and access the notes. It would be best to know that Facebook does not have an option to export the notes on this page. But you can open each one in a new window and copy and paste them to another platform.
If you have content saved on your Facebook notes, you can retrieve it with our simple steps and make a backup copy. You can then migrate to platforms like Medium, Tumblr, or Quora, which gives the standard article style.
On these platforms, you can format, structure, and add links to your post.
In the old days, when you saved a note on Facebook, you could access and share it later when it pleased you. But since 2020, Facebook has disabled the note services. This is because Facebook does not like you linking other web pages that lead users out of its platform. So all you can do now is recover old notes and post on different media that allow external links.
The platform announced that the Facebook notes service is gone as of October 2020. This means that you can no longer create new notes on Facebook. But the notes you published earlier will remain on the platform. Also, the notes you saved as a draft are still available, and you can still recover all your saved notes.
Even with the service not available again, Facebook still cared for your previous notes. You can access it by going to your activities across Facebook in Settings and Privacy. You can find the step-by-step guide to finding where your notes are in the article.
One of the almost one hundred percent sure way to get people interested in reading Facebook posts is to correctly and competently fill out notes. Small in size, but capacious and interesting entries attract no less attention to the account or to the page than voluminous and detailed posts.
Content:
If there is no "Notes" section in the account, then this area is not yet activated. To make the Notes section appear in your account, follow these steps:
Notes on Facebook pages look and feel very good. Interesting and well-designed notes are a great way to make a page even more attractive to readers. And an interesting and attractive page is, of course, additional subscribers. nine0003
If you want to add a special tab with notes on your Facebook business page, then this process has some specifics.
You can activate "Notes" in the profile if you perform the following sequence of actions:

To create a new note, you need to enable the "Write note" option located next to the personal profile settings. The process of creating and posting a small note is the same for personal accounts and business pages.
The sequence of actions is very simple:
You can check all already published notes at the link - https://www.
facebook.com/notes.
It's easy to format text in a note. The social network options provide a list of fully functional tools for this process. Specifically, these are:
According to the Facebook rule, when mentioning a page, the "dog" symbol is required. If a user profile is mentioned, this restriction does not apply.
A note with a beautiful and meaningful image looks and reads much better. A high-quality visual is an excellent addition to text.
To mark up a photo in a note:
There is also a manual mode for adjusting parameters:
When text formatting is complete and images are selected and placed, you can post a note to the news feed. And if the note is interesting for readers, then they will certainly appreciate it by putting their “Like”.
Facebook notes can be used both for business activities and for self-realization.
This is why notes are so popular. The social network has introduced a new algorithm for creating and posting such posts.
It is not difficult:
Facebook notes are as functional as quality blogging platforms and can be used for this activity.
So we've learned how to create and mark up a Facebook note. We also learned that a creative approach to the design of a note will help make it more interesting. What topics can you write notes on? There are many. nine0003
For example:
Notes are liked, they are available for commenting and distribution on the network, in particular, to interest groups. They are very effective for promoting small businesses.
Despite the fact that notes cannot be officially advertised on Facebook, advanced users have found a very good way to do it.
To do this, perform the following sequence of actions:
No one is immune from errors, and inexperienced users quite encounter some difficulties when creating notes. nine0003
Here are some recommendations to overcome them:
With a lot of positive aspects, Facebook notes also have some disadvantages. nine0003
In particular:
A standard Facebook post and a note have a number of differences. If posts can be about anything, then notes in most cases are devoted to a specific topic. nine0003
A note is a small finished work, which must be clear, concise and informative. Don't forget about it!
