Today, we’re expanding the ability to add links in Stories to all accounts. Over the years, businesses, creators and change-makers have shown how sharing resources and information can inspire their communities. From organizing and educating around equity, social justice and mental well-being to showcasing new product drops to customers, link sharing is helpful in many ways — so now we're giving access to everyone.

Equity, Expression and Enablement

When we first introduced Stories links, the feature was limited to verified accounts or those with a certain number of followers. We’ve heard from the rest of our community that they also want to share things that matter with their friends and family. Whatever you’re into, from cooking to volunteering or shopping, you now have a space to share in Stories — regardless of your account size.

We continue to be inspired by the change-makers on our platform and those who want to turn their passion into a living by sharing links. We recently introduced new ways for creators and businesses to reach more fans, engage their community and grow their reach, and we aim to further support them with access to links.

How to Add Links to Your Stories

Use the Link sticker to add a link to your Instagram story. When people tap on the sticker, they’ll be redirected.

To add a Link sticker:

  • Capture or upload content to your story
  • Select the sticker tool from the top navigation bar
  • Tap the “Link” sticker to add your desired link and tap “Done”
  • Place the sticker on your story — like our other stickers — and tap on the sticker to see color variations

We’re also working on ways to customize the sticker so it’s clear what someone will see when they tap your link.

Keeping Instagram Safe

As part of our ongoing efforts to limit harmful content on Instagram, new accounts and accounts that repeatedly share things like hate speech and misinformation, or other content that violates our Community Guidelines will not have access to the Link sticker. How to Add More to Your Instagram Story

Here are all the ways to add photos and videos to an Instagram Story that you've already posted.

Instagram Stories are a great way to showcase photographs and videos of your daily activities. But did you know that you can add more than one photo to your Instagram Story, even if you've already posted it? There are different ways you can do this, so read on to find out how to add more to your Instagram Story.

1. From Your Instagram Story Page

Sometimes, a post doesn't feel complete until you add more content. After you post your Story on Instagram, you can add another photo to your existing Story to perfect your post. You are allowed to add up to six photos to an Instagram Story.

One way to add another photo to your Instagram Story is to upload it directly from your Story page. This is a great way to add pictures consecutively and instantly.

To add pictures to your Instagram Story from your Story page:

  1. Tap on your existing Story to open it.
  2. Select your Instagram avatar in the top left corner of your Story.
  3. Tap on your photo gallery in the bottom left corner.
  4. Select the photograph you want to add and click on it.
  5. Tap on the Your Story option in the bottom left corner to automatically add the photo to your Instagram Story.

To view your stories consecutively, click the Your Story button in the top left corner of your screen and click through them to see all the photos you posted.

2. From Your Instagram Timeline

When you are on your Instagram timeline you can add to your Story easily by following the steps below. This is convenient for when you are scrolling through and realize you forgot to add a photo to your Story.

To add a picture to your Instagram Story from your timeline:

  1. Click the plus sign in the top right corner, beside the notifications button.
  2. Select the STORY option in the bottom right corner.
  3. Tap on your photo gallery in the bottom left corner.
  4. Select the photograph you want to add and click on it.
  5. Tap on Your Story in the bottom left corner to automatically share the photo to your Instagram Story.

3. From Your Instagram Profile

Your Instagram profile has many options for sharing media to your Instagram timeline. You now have the option to add to your existing Story from your profile, making the process quick and easy.

To add a photograph to your Instagram Story from your profile:

  1. Go to your Instagram profile page and select the plus sign in the top right corner.
  2. Now that you're on the Create menu, select Story.
  3. Tap on your photo gallery in the bottom left corner.
  4. Select the photograph you want to add and click on it.
  5. Tap on Your Story in the bottom left corner to share the photo to your Instagram Story.

When you add a picture to your existing Instagram Story from your profile, you can continue adding new posts and another Story directly afterward, without having to move to another page. This option is great if you're pressed for time.

4. Add a Picture From an Instagram Friend to Your Story

When you're scrolling on your timeline, you may find a photograph from another Instagram user that you want to add to your Story. You can do this easily from your timeline.

To add a photograph from another account to your Instagram Story:

  1. Click the arrow button beside the comment button to share the post.
  2. Select the Add post to your Story option.
  3. Tap on the Your Story button in the bottom left corner.

This will instantly add the photograph to your Instagram Story so your followers can see it. If you want to impress your followers further, we recommend using these Instagram tools for power users.

How to add a few photos to Instagram Story*

If you are going to add photos to Instagram Story* in the standard way , we have just prepared detailed instructions. We tell you how to proceed step by step.

Open your Instagram profile*. Click on the blue plus sign on your profile icon (1) and select the photos you want to add to your story (2). nine0003 Remember that you can upload no more than 10 photos or videos to one story

To select multiple images, you need to click on the photo that will be displayed first and hold it down (3). A blue circle with the number 1 will appear in the upper right corner of the photo. Select the rest of the photos without a long press, set the number and order.

If you decide to change the order - just remove the numbers from the photo and put them again, already in the right order

So, we found and chose the ones we wanted. Now it's time to add effects to them. To do this, call up the effects menu by clicking on the stars (3). nine0003 After clicking on the stars, we get to the effects menu

After going to the effects menu, you can select them. Find the effects that best suit your stories by swiping left (6).

We settled on the Iridescent Glitter effect (7). He gave more shine to the garlands on the tree, but this does not mean that he is suitable only for such photos. Experiment and check :–)

You have to choose the effect separately for each photo. After choosing an effect for one photo, you need to click the checkmark in the upper right corner, confirming the choice, and select the next image at the bottom of the menu. For him, also select the effect and move on. nine0003

You can also add a drawing or an inscription made by your own hand to the photo. In addition, you can save to the gallery what you have already done. If you like the caption idea, click on the three dots to the right of the stars and select "drawing" (8).

You can never have too many effects - choose your own effect for each photo, but so that they are in the same style :–)

In the top line of the menu you can choose the tools with which you will draw, and in the bottom line you can choose the color. The thickness of the pencil or brush is set by the vertical slider on the left. nine0003

If the drawing is ready, in our case it is an abbreviated New Year's greeting, click on the checkmark at the top right (9). You will move on and be able to share your completed Story (10).

Drawing is, of course, more difficult than typing. But with your own hand :–)

By the way, if your story is for a narrow circle of people, you can publish it for the Close Friends list or send it in a message to one of your friends personally.

But since we are talking about public stories, feel free to click "done" (11) and wait for our Story to be published. When it is ready and visible to people, a new story will appear on top of your profile (12). nine0003 You can choose to additionally send to individual users by selecting under "where else to share"

The story is ready (13), but it's not over yet.

Stories can be shared as a post or added to the Featured

We can add stories to the Featured. There you can store the most important and interesting Stories, they will be available to your subscribers until you remove them from your profile.

The button for adding to the Topical is located at the bottom of the finished Story (14). We click on it, a tab opens with a plus sign in a circle (15). By clicking on the plus sign, you create a new selection of Actual Stories. Don't forget to give this collection a title so that it will be easier to find later if you have many such collections. nine0003 Click on “Add”, give a name and admire the result

Click “Add” (16), and now our History is saved in a new selection of Actual (17) - we look, admire, remember at any time.

Add music to Story

What is a story without suitable music in 2022?

In the menu under the emoticon, select the "Music" section. In the line "Search for music" (3) enter the name of the song or melody that you would like to use. In our case, this is “A Christmas tree was born in the forest” (4).

Add a hashtag to History

Hashtags are a separate art form

In the menu under the emoticon, select the "#HASHTAG" section. In the input line, enter a keyword or phrase without a hash mark (5). The hashtag #NEWYEAR is the most suitable for our stories (6), but you choose the ones that fit the theme.

Ask your audience a question in stories

Ask your audience something and raise activity

In the menu under the emoticon, select the “Poll” section. In the input line, ask your audience a question (7). Our question is about the New Year (8), your question may be the same or different.

We talked more about polls in the idea for the "Polls" story. There, we provided examples of questions to ask the audience and cautions, along with a story about what kind of business such surveys are suitable for. nine0003

Now we can admire the finished Story with interesting features. We just have to publish it.

So, we added everything that came up to the story

Music, question and hashtag added. You can see what it looks like in the picture. Click "Next" (9) and share the Story with subscribers (10).

Let's move on to the feature

Instagram* never ceases to amaze with its updates and new features. Impressive is the “Image Sticker” feature for creating stories from multiple photos. Previously, this option was only available for iOS, but in 2021, Instagram* allowed Android users to use this feature.

Add text to your Story by clicking "Aa" to the left of the smiley face. You can change the color, font and size of the text by choosing the settings at the bottom and at the top (9). You can also animate text.

iPhone

Downloading stories from iPhone involves the same steps. Click on the plus on the account icon, select a photo or video. After a day, the publication is automatically moved to the archive. We save an important entry in the “Actual” so that they are always displayed in the account for page visitors.

Uploading multiple photos at once

To load several images at once, we will use several methods, the first of which is as follows. When Instagram-stories, open the gallery in the application with the function mark. A maximum of 10 photos can be uploaded at the same time. We also add stickers, apply effects.

To view the processed photos, click "Next". To publish stories, click "Share". Before uploading the second photo or video, we check that the first one is already active and is displayed in stories. nine0003

A slide show option is also available to us. To do this, we will use any available video editor to fit several photos or pictures into one story. As an addition, we use effects, transitions.

Collage stories are a popular option for posting multiple photos in one post. Grouping pictures is carried out by applications Layout, Photogrid, StoryArt and others of your choice. We supplement the publication with frames or general design.

Above, we looked at ways to add multiple stories and images from a smartphone. However, adding multiple photos to one Instagram story from a computer is more difficult. To do this, download the Android emulator application on your PC. According to the advice of Instagram, it is recommended to use their original program. Possible problems with posting: long loading

Quite often, Instagram users face long posting stories, which is not always the fault of the service. The reasons for the long loading of stories are as follows:

  • not enough connection speed;
  • photos or videos of heavy weight;
  • reloading traffic on servers.

When loading stories for a long time, we reconnect to the wireless network. If this does not help, wait a while and try again. Also, with the help of video editors, the file you want to download has the option to crop or lower the quality, thereby reducing its size.

Long publication of the record in some cases indicates that the service does not support the resolution of the uploaded file. Most often this is a problem with video clips. Before starting to upload a post, we check that the video is in mp4 format. There are many converters available to change the format, which also reduces the file size, thereby speeding up the download. nine0003

Unable to add another story - why?

Most often, another story cannot be set due to a malfunction of the application itself. What we do is update the application or reinstall. In some cases, rebooting the smartphone helps. If the version of the operating system is not suitable for downloading the latest update, buys a new phone.

Create and add to Instagram a cut of several stories from a long video

Only short video clips no more than 15 seconds are available on Instagram. A long video is divided into several stories and added with one click. To do this, download the InShot application (suitable for iOS and Android). nine0003

Other applications for Android:

Vertical shooting is available in the service, however, we rotate the horizontal position with the change of proportions to leave a square.

Only mp4 format with a size not exceeding 4GB is used to add video. When adding a video recording, we take into account the allowable minimum and maximum resolutions (600x1067 and 1080x1920, respectively). It is recommended to add videos with intermediate resolution.

Other apps for iOS:

  • Crop Video is an affordable app packed with useful features. Does not automatically split the video into parts of 15 seconds. You have to do it manually;
  • CutStory - Uses a watermark that can be removed for an additional fee. Automatically cuts stories into pieces of 15 seconds. Compression is not required. The chronological order is noted when saving;
  • Continual for Instagram is a paid application that independently cuts and adds a video clip to Instagram in accordance with the requirements of the service. Such an application does not compress videos, leaving high quality, and automatically adjusts horizontal formats to a portrait with the ability to record from the application. nine0127
  • Vidtrim is an affordable application that leaves a watermark on stories. With its help, the audio track is cut, converted and separated, the frame is rotated. The advantage of Vidtrim is the Russified version;
  • Video Splitter - cuts many small pieces from one video;
  • Youcut - splits video into parts of a certain length with the ability to merge, apply filters, music and resize.

Benefits of Stories over regular posting via Post

  • Stories do not impose information unnecessarily. With their help, we remind ourselves of ourselves without overloading our account and the feed of the target audience;
  • We post the latest news only in stories so as not to reload the feed again. The news will disappear after 24 hours;
  • Application Library offers access to attach gifs;
