chips, quick and unusual ways

Do you want your Stories to be really cool and stand out from the competition? Just adding a photo is not so difficult, we will tell you about it. But you can turn stories into a real masterpiece, and our article will help you with this.

Let's figure out what gadgets and chips on Instagram* will help you post several photos at once in the Story and make it attractive to the audience.

And to learn how to plan content for a section, read the article "How to create a content plan for Instagram Stories*". nine0003

How to add a few photos to Instagram Story*

We will tell you in detail how to do it and what additional effects can be added to make your story stand out in the main mass :–)

If you are going to add photos to Instagram Story* in the standard way , we have just prepared detailed instructions. We tell you how to proceed step by step.

Open your Instagram profile*. Click on the blue plus sign on your profile icon (1) and select the photos you want to add to your story (2). nine0003 Remember that you can upload no more than 10 photos or videos to one story

To select multiple images, you need to click on the photo that will be displayed first and hold it down (3). A blue circle with the number 1 will appear in the upper right corner of the photo. Select the rest of the photos without a long press, set the number and order.

If you decide to change the order - just remove the numbers from the photo and put them again, already in the right order

So, we found and chose the ones we wanted. Now it's time to add effects to them. To do this, call up the effects menu by clicking on the stars (3). nine0003 After clicking on the stars, we get to the effects menu

After going to the effects menu, you can select them. Find the effects that best suit your stories by swiping left (6).

We settled on the Iridescent Glitter effect (7). He gave more shine to the garlands on the tree, but this does not mean that he is suitable only for such photos. Experiment and check :–)

You have to choose the effect separately for each photo. After choosing an effect for one photo, you need to click the checkmark in the upper right corner, confirming the choice, and select the next image at the bottom of the menu. For him, also select the effect and move on. nine0003

You can also add a drawing or an inscription made by your own hand to the photo. In addition, you can save to the gallery what you have already done. If you like the caption idea, click on the three dots to the right of the stars and select "drawing" (8).

You can never have too many effects - choose your own effect for each photo, but so that they are in the same style :–)

In the top line of the menu you can choose the tools with which you will draw, and in the bottom line you can choose the color. The thickness of the pencil or brush is set by the vertical slider on the left. nine0003

If the drawing is ready, in our case it is an abbreviated New Year's greeting, click on the checkmark at the top right (9). You will move on and be able to share your completed Story (10).

Drawing is, of course, more difficult than typing. But with your own hand :–)

By the way, if your story is for a narrow circle of people, you can publish it for the Close Friends list or send it in a message to one of your friends personally.

But since we are talking about public stories, feel free to click "done" (11) and wait for our Story to be published. When it is ready and visible to people, a new story will appear on top of your profile (12). nine0003 You can choose to additionally send to individual users by selecting under "where else to share"

The story is ready (13), but it's not over yet.

Stories can be shared as a post or added to the Featured

We can add stories to the Featured. There you can store the most important and interesting Stories, they will be available to your subscribers until you remove them from your profile.

The button for adding to the Topical is located at the bottom of the finished Story (14). We click on it, a tab opens with a plus sign in a circle (15). By clicking on the plus sign, you create a new selection of Actual Stories. Don't forget to give this collection a title so that it will be easier to find later if you have many such collections. nine0003 Click on “Add”, give a name and admire the result

Click “Add” (16), and now our History is saved in a new selection of Actual (17) - we look, admire, remember at any time.

You can start from the other side - click on Topical and add pictures from there

To prepare stories for several days at once, we recommend using the SMMplanner scheduling posting service. With it, you can prepare stories or posts, plan dates and times for them to be published, and take care of other important things or projects. When registering via the link to SMMplanner, you will get free access to all functionality for 2 weeks. A great option to try all the amenities of the service and start saving your time and nerves. nine0003

By the way, about the "Share" button and how subscribers share your posts. Our blog has an article "Forward" metric in Instagram* Stories statistics: what it is, why and how to track it. In it, we tell you why to track this indicator, what it affects and how to increase it.

Functions for editing photos in stories

So, we have added some photos to stories. And how to make the story look cooler and more interesting for users? We've put together a few tricks you can use to create a poll, add music or hashtags, and more. Each of these techniques in its own way will help increase the activity and involvement of the audience. nine0003

For example, you have already selected the photos you want to publish. It's time to give your story a more interesting look, you can post some question to subscribers - click on the smiley (1) and select the function you are interested in (2).

Just look how many stickers are available for sharing in stories

You can also add a hashtag to get into the search for a potential follower or recommendation. We talk a lot about hashtags and show them on the blog. Many companies ignore them, and in vain. With their help, you can try to increase sales, the number of subscribers or comments. One of the latest articles is “We select hashtags to increase sales on Instagram*”. In it, we tell you which hashtags should be used if you want to increase sales. nine0003

What other features are there for Instagram Stories*? We tell below.

Add music to Story

What is a story without suitable music in 2022?

In the menu under the emoticon, select the "Music" section. In the line "Search for music" (3) enter the name of the song or melody that you would like to use. In our case, this is “A Christmas tree was born in the forest” (4).

Melody added to History. It will play simultaneously with stories.
Learn more about this feature in our article "How to Add Music to Instagram* Stories". It tells in detail how to add high-quality tracks or recordings from a voice recorder. nine0003

Add a hashtag to History

Hashtags are a separate art form

In the menu under the emoticon, select the "#HASHTAG" section. In the input line, enter a keyword or phrase without a hash mark (5). The hashtag #NEWYEAR is the most suitable for our stories (6), but you choose the ones that fit the theme.

You can read more about hashtags and their benefits in stories and posts in our articles:

  • How to use hashtags to promote on Instagram*: examples, opportunities, mistakes

Ask your audience a question in stories

Ask your audience something and raise activity

In the menu under the emoticon, select the “Poll” section. In the input line, ask your audience a question (7). Our question is about the New Year (8), your question may be the same or different.

We talked more about polls in the idea for the "Polls" story. There, we provided examples of questions to ask the audience and cautions, along with a story about what kind of business such surveys are suitable for. nine0003

What the finished Story looks like with functions applied

Now we can admire the finished Story with interesting features. We just have to publish it.

So, we added everything that came up to the story

Music, question and hashtag added. You can see what it looks like in the picture. Click "Next" (9) and share the Story with subscribers (10).

The story is ready and looks quite good :–)

Let's move on to the feature

Instagram* never ceases to amaze with its updates and new features. Impressive is the “Image Sticker” feature for creating stories from multiple photos. Previously, this option was only available for iOS, but in 2021, Instagram* allowed Android users to use this feature.

We go to the already familiar gallery, but then it's interesting

Choose one photo from the gallery (1) or take a picture. Click on the smiley (2). A menu with functions and tools will open (3). nine0003 On some devices you may have to scroll down a bit to find the sticker you want

Use the Image Sticker feature (4) to create a Story from multiple photos.

Choosing a photo, acting according to the plan

Overlay a photo of a Christmas tree (6) on the selected photo. Snow was used as a background, as we associate it with the New Year.

A photo of a Christmas tree can be turned into a star or another sticker

We make an asterisk from a photo of a Christmas tree (7). Each time you click, the shape of the photo changes. Spread the photo apart with your fingers if you want to resize. We chose 4 photos with different shapes (8).

You can also add text if it's appropriate or necessary for your post.

Add text to your Story by clicking "Aa" to the left of the smiley face. You can change the color, font and size of the text by choosing the settings at the bottom and at the top (9). You can also animate text.

And we share in the standard way with those subscribers with whom we want

Story ready for publication (11 and 12). Click "Share" and enjoy our cool Story.

Even more about the new stickers on Instagram*, we talked in the article "Overview of new stickers on Instagram* 2021 + fresh ideas for use." There we took a detailed look at all the ideas and stickers that can be used in Instagram Stories in 2022*.

How to add a second story on insta. Adding Previously Taken Photos to Instagram Stories

One of the most useful features on Instagram is called Stories. Instead of the usual posting of carefully selected single photos, Stories allows you to post a bunch of photos that play like a slideshow throughout the day. And after a day these photos disappear.

Sound familiar? nine0003

This is because it is very similar to the "My Story" feature in Snapchat. Facebook, which owns Instagram, also has a similar Stories feature.

Here's everything you need to know about this feature and Instagram.

Want to add some photos or videos to your story to play in a slideshow? Just keep repeating the steps above. Every photo you add using these steps within 24 hours will be placed in your story. nine0115

The photos and videos you chose for your story will now become a series that people can watch for 24 hours. A colored circle will appear around your profile photo to let your followers know you have a story to view, and your profile picture will also appear at the top of your following feeds. All they have to do is click on your avatar to see your story.

If you have a habit of adding things to your social media accounts that you later regret, we have good news! Stories can be deleted. Click on the three dots at the bottom right corner of the photo or video you want to delete, click "Delete" and then confirm. nine0003

Add photos from the gallery and snapshots to your story.

Why not use saved Snapchat pictures or pictures from your phone's photo gallery as a Story? Once you've taken a Snapchat photo, simply click the "Upload" button. This will save it on the camera film. To add a photo from your photo gallery, open Instagram, start a story, and swipe down. A gallery will appear with all your recent photos, including the photos you saved on Snapchat. Click on the photo and post as usual. You can only use photos that you have added to your camera within the last 24 hours, so hurry up. nine0003

Boomerang, hands free and live video.

As promised, I'll talk a little about these formatting options.

Let's start with boomerangs. These are fun short clips that play back and forth. Any boomerang (slow motion video too) you've made in the last 24 hours can be uploaded to your Story, just add photos from your phone.

Nothing extra is needed to make boomerangs. They are available in your stories. To launch the boomerang, swipe right on your feed. This will open the History chamber. Under the record button, you will find the "Boomerang" mode. Select it and hit record to take a short burst of photos. nine0003

No more pressing and holding to make a video. The "Hands Free" option on the Format Palette allows you to record hands-free video.

You can also make live videos in your stories. This is very similar to the live video feature on Facebook. Just open your Stories camera and select the "Live" option. A live label will appear on the round story icon to alert your followers, and Instagram will also notify some of your followers that you've gone live. nine0003

And yes, there are ways to spice up your shots.

One of the best things about Snapchat is the ability to add fun effects and highlights to your photos. Stories also have a lot of customization features.

After taking a photo or video, swipe left or right on the screen to add a filter.

After selecting the desired filter, add stickers. Next to the text and graphics tools, you'll find the stickers button. Tap the emoji icon and you can decorate your story with customizable stickers. Once you add a sticker, you can add another one, move it, and resize the sticker. nine0003

Instagram is constantly adding new stickers, so be sure to scroll through them to find new ones. Some of their current stickers:

  • Weather.
  • Current time.
  • Location.
  • Funny hats and sunglasses.
  • Emoji.

You can then add text. To add text, simply click on the icon in the upper right corner of the screen and select the desired color. If the colors are not what you want, don't despair. Just swipe left on the color palette to display other shades of colors. nine0003

Forget photography and get creative.

Don't want to share photos and just need a canvas for drawings or text? Take a photo of anything, then go to the drawing tool. Choose the color you want, then place your finger on the photo and hold for a couple of seconds. The selected color will fill. You now have a blank canvas.

Once you have your canvas, you can fill it in with dots and stripes. Click on the drawing tool, click on the marked marker at the top of the screen, select the appropriate color and click on the "3 dots" button at the bottom left of the screen. With the slider that appears on the left, you can change the thickness of the stroke. nine0003

To make stripes, follow the same steps, but choose a corner marker instead of a pencil. Then just touch the screen. Perfect little stripes will appear on your photo.

Some Instagrammers use a composition of growing peas to simulate thought bubbles in their photos. You can do this by creating a large, large pea above the person in the photo, and then creating several smaller dots that go below the "think bubble". You can fill the thought bubble with emojis or text. nine0003

Tag someone!

When adding text to a story, all you have to do is include the @ symbol followed by the username. If you follow this person, their avatar will appear. Just click on it and that person will be tagged in your story. A tag is a direct link to a person's profile, and you can tag up to 10 people this way.

When you tag someone, they will be alerted in a private message, so this is a great way to tell your friends about your stories. If you've mentioned someone who isn't following you, a notification will appear in their message request. nine0003

Scrolling through stories is quite easy.

Navigating through History is very easy. While viewing your friend's Stories, swipe right to go to the previous one, swipe left to go to the next one, and tap the screen to skip a photo or video.

If you want to linger on one photo, you can pause the slideshow by tapping and swiping on the photo. To continue, just raise your finger. This also works with video. If you keep your finger on the video for too long, it will be paused even when you raise your finger. To play the video again, swipe back and forth in short strokes across the screen. nine0003

How the History feed is organized.

Day after day you see the same people at the beginning of the Stories feed. The order in which the tapes are fed depends on several factors. One of them is ignorance. If you ignore a person, their stories will be moved to the very bottom of the feed. They will stay there until they are no longer ignored. It brings others to the TOP.

Another factor is Instagram itself. He developed a system that tries to predict what you would like to see and then present it at the top of the list. If you're not following someone and Instagram thinks you want to watch it, their stories will be sorted by time. The one who posted the last message will be the first in the feed. nine0003

If Instagram is wrong in its predictions, you may find that you are missing out on some Stories. From what I have found, you cannot customize this ribbon.

You cannot comment on Stories, but you can send a message.

You can send a message to your friend directly from this person's Story. In the lower left corner of the screen, you will see "Send Message". Click on this "button", enter what you would like to say, and click "Submit". However, this only works for people who have comments enabled. nine0003

Dealing with annoying people.

If you get annoyed every time you see someone's story in the feed, you can mute that person. Simply press and hold that person's Story icon when they appear in your feed. A window will open where you can turn off his stories.

Disabling will not hide History completely. This will just move it to the bottom of the list, and it won't automatically open when you watch Stories. You will need to turn on that person's stories manually to bring them back into the normal mix. Just press and hold that person's Story icon and tap Don't Ignore. nine0003

Hide your stories from haters.

You can also choose who can see your stories and who can't. Do you want your mom to not see this epic Friday night, for example? Go to your profile and tap the sun (iOS) or three dots (Android) icon in the top right corner of the screen. Select "Story Settings" from the menu and then click "Hide My Stories From". Select people from the list and tap Done. These people will still be able to see your posts and profile, but they won't see your story. nine0003

You can prevent certain people from sending you messages from your Story. Go to your profile and tap the sun icon (iOS) or three dots (Android) in the top right corner of the screen. Select the "Story Settings" option from the list. Under the "Allow replies to messages" heading, you can select "Everyone", "People you follow", or "Off".

Save your stories forever.

If you are attached to your story and don't want it to disappear forever, you can download it to your phone. Open your story and click on the three dots in the bottom right corner of the photo or video. Then click "Save Photo". nine0003

You can also automatically save your stories to your camera's film. Go to the profile screen, tap the menu, and then tap "Story Settings" under the "Account" heading. In the "Camera" section, set the toggle switch (tick) "Save published photos." You can also tap the gear icon when you're on the History screen, and from there set the "Save shared photos" option. Now every time you create a Story, videos and images will be automatically saved on your mobile phone. On iOS, you can save the entire story in your camera roll as a single video. nine0003

Or post them as normal photos.

If you want everyone to see your photos or videos for a longer time, you can add them to your profile grid.

The photo or video will appear in your profile grid. Just be careful, someone who can see your profile grid will be able to see the photo or video. She will no longer have special protections that you can add in the "Stories".

Find out who is viewing your story. nine0013

Curious to know who viewed your story? Open this story and swipe. A view counter and the names of the people who have viewed it will appear at the bottom of the screen. Are you embarrassed by small numbers on the counter? Not worth it. Only you can see this information.

If someone is viewing your story and you decide you don't want that person to see it, just click on the "three dots" next to the person's name and select "Hide story from [username]".

Links More.

Verified accounts now have "View More" links at the bottom of their Stories. To open the link, swipe the screen and view it using Instagram's built-in browser. The feature is currently just being tested with verified accounts. Unknown yet if this feature becomes available to everyone else. , just like your friends' stories, except that the message will say "New" These stories disappear from the feed after you view them, so if you need to review it again, swipe left in the Stories feed . nine0003

That's all for now.

Instagram is constantly adding new features to Stories, so we will try to update this article with new service updates.

Editor's note: 11 April. This article was first published on August 5, 2016 and has been updated as new Stories features are released.

TADAAAAAAM! Instagram has started telling stories! Seriously, the "stories" function appeared - it is also "stories", "stories", or "stories". This is a direct inclusion in the form of a photo or video that you can add to your friends' feed, while it will not appear in your account. This means that you no longer have to "lick" your photos, adjusting the light and choosing the composition. Thanks to stories on Instagram, you can upload any trash - anyway, its lifespan is only a day. nine0003

Some people hate this innovation, others like it. I belong to the latter and I think that if you don’t like stories, you simply don’t know how to use them!

How to do stories on instagram and what they can do

Where can I find stories?

The most important question: "Stories - where are they?". And this is in the feed of your friends. An additional strip with avatars appeared at the very top. If there is a red circle around the avatar, then there are new “stories” there. If you have your own current story, then your avatar will be the first. If you don’t have stories, then your subscription stories will immediately go. nine0003

By clicking on the avatar in this feed, you will be taken to the "stories" section, where the stories will change automatically, you do not need to do anything for this. If you have already seen some stories, playback will start with new stories.

In addition, if you go to someone's profile and see that their avatar is circled in red, it means that there are relevant stories there! You can click on the avatar and immediately see them.

How do I add my story?

To create your own story, you need to go to your friends feed and click on the plus sign at the top left. nine0003

Your camera will turn on. The camera can be switched from normal to front and back by double-tapping the screen or by clicking on the circle of arrows at the bottom right.

To take a photo, you need to press the white button at the bottom center of the screen once. To take a video, you need to press and hold the same button. When recording starts, a colored bar will “run” around this white button.

Videos can be zoomed in and out. To do this, without lifting your finger from the screen, swipe up (the zoom will work for the approach), and then down (and the picture will move away again). nine0003

You can also save stories to your phone without sharing them. Save along with captions, drawings and emoticons that you add to the photo. And then this saved photo can be added to your account (if you want, of course). To save stories, click on the small arrow at the bottom right.

How to glue stories together?

No glue required. You are just adding one story. Then another one. Then more. And they themselves line up and switch when they are watched. nine0003

How to add a filter?

Yes, you can use a filter in stories. To do this, swipe your finger across the screen from right to left, the filters will change. Works with both photos and videos.

How to add an inscription to stories?

Surprisingly, the trend with texts on Instagram has spread to stories. As a spontaneous poll in my account showed, users like photos with text more than just pictures. Even for a photo in stories, I want to get some kind of story and explanation. nine0003

Fortunately, you can add text to photos, videos, and even clips from the Boomerang app. To do this, click on "Aa" at the top right. You will have a keyboard, cursor and palette with colors.

Ready text can be enlarged or reduced. To do this, tap the screen with two fingers, and then pinch (to make text smaller) or spread them apart (to make it bigger). Also, by touching, you can drag the text anywhere on the screen or change its slope.

How to draw in stories? nine0333

There are 3 markers in stories: thin, wide and tinted along the contour. They can draw, write or create a "background" for text. So, for example, if your photo has such a palette that the font of any color is hard to read, you can create a background with a marker and place text on it for more contrast. After selecting a marker, just slide your finger across the screen and it will draw.

There is a PAUSE in stories! If your photo or video has long text that you don't have time to read, or if you want to see details, just tap and hold your finger. A pause will work and you will be able to read a long text even by syllables. nine0003

How can I see the previous or next story?

You can control how quickly stories change and you can return to the previous one. To do this, tap on the right side of the screen (to switch to the next story) or on the left (to return to the previous one).

How to answer the story?

Stories are not a post, you can't like or comment on them. You send the answer to the story to the direct to its author.

To reply to a story, you need to click on the "Send message" button in the lower left corner. nine0003

If this button is not present, then the user has disabled the ability to reply to his stories. This can be done in the profile settings.

What you need stories?

I think stories are really cool because they solve a lot of problems. Namely:

Reportage

Announcement

If you want to talk about the fact that you have new items on your site, or a new blog article, or you are finishing a book about which you will write a post soon, or you are planning a contest, then you can make a post about it, or you can make a story . nine0003

Such announcements are often deleted from the account after some time. Stories will self-delete in a day. And again, no need to waste time building a beautiful frame and writing a post - just uploaded a story and it appeared on everyone at the very top of their feeds.

This option is great for drawing extra attention to your new post or breaking news, like if you're inviting your readers to Periscope right now or you're on TV right now and need to turn it on ASAP. nine0003

Reminder, temporary post

Many bloggers publish temporary posts. They write just like that at the very beginning: “Temporary post! Then I'll delete it! It can be a post about a suddenly canceled order, some kind of question for the audience, or something else. So stories - this is a temporary post. In addition, before your temporary post published in your account, you will still need to scroll through the feed, and stories - here they are, at the very top, in front of your eyes.

Also, stories work great for reminders. If you spend Instagram prank , then you will probably have to remind yourself of this several times in your account - after all, someone could have missed the poster with the announcement and rules. Thanks to stories, you can remind about your contest, and such a temporary post will self-delete in a day. Remind me every day!

Reminder about myself

If you have a blues, blockage, creative block or other reasons for not posting in your account, you can publish stories and remind subscribers about yourself. nine0003

What's wrong with Stories?

I personally and many other bloggers in stories lack feedback. There are no likes, no comments, no discussions. Of course, they can write to you in direct, but this is not at all the same. Of course, you can see who has viewed your story, but this is also not at all the same as discussions under a photo or even a like.

However, it is quite possible that soon there will be an opportunity to like stories and then they will become absolutely amazing! nine0003

Do you use stories? How do you like this innovation? Tell in the comments!

Almost all smartphone owners use the Instagram app. Using it is easy and pleasant, you can view photos and videos, add comments and put likes. Not so long ago, a new feature appeared on this social network, it is called Instagram Stories, that is, "Stories" on Instagram.

What is it?

The function is designed to share not very important information about your life. Stories exist for only 24 hours and do not end up in the user's main feed. Instagram borrowed this feature from Snapchat and did not fail. With its help, it is really possible to publish photos and videos almost online. To do this, you just need to swipe the swipe from top to bottom or click the plus sign in the upper left corner. To add stories, you can swipe down and select photos taken within the last 24 hours. Instagram wants you to post only relevant pictures and videos for the purpose of generating content. As a result, you can attract more of your friends and subscribers to this social network. nine0003

Little tricks on how to post stories

First, you need to open the Instagram application on your smartphone. In your profile, tap the Your Story button and swipe down from the top of the screen. The last photos taken during the day will appear, which you can select. Secondly, after you have chosen them, they can be modified. For example, apply a filter, color fill, make an inscription, rotate it, place it anywhere on the screen, paint it with the desired color, put a geotag, hashtag, use a sticker to decorate a photo, and then publish it all in real time. You can use the normal and reverse camera, while recording video, you can hold the capture button, or you can use the "hands-free" function. When you're done, you need to click the "Finish" button. Stories is a unique feature of the social network Instagram, in which the user posts something like a slideshow consisting of photos and videos. The notability of this feature is that the added story will be completely deleted 24 hours after its publication.

  • History is stored for a limited amount of time, namely, only 24 hours, after which the system will automatically delete it;
  • You will see exactly who viewed your story;
  • nine0126 If a user decides to "cheat" and take a screenshot of your story, you will be notified immediately;
  • Only photos taken or saved within the last 24 hours can be uploaded to history from the device memory.
