How do you check your instagram profile visits

How to See Who Viewed Your Instagram Profile (2022)

Instagram is one of the most widely used social media platforms these days, with over a billion monthly active users logging on daily to check out images/videos posted by the friends, family or their favorite celebrities. While there is a large population of Instagram users who post stuff on the daily, there are quite a few who just lurk around without posting all that much or use the platform as a means to stalk other users. If you’re an avid Instagrammer with a public profile, it’s quite likely that you’ve wondered ‘Can I see who views my Instagram profile?’ more often than you’d like to admit. So, how does one track who views their Instagram account? Can you keep a tab on your Insta stalker? Lets find out.

How to See Who Views Your Instagram Profile (2022)

Well, to be precise, there isn’t any straightforward way for you to check who views your Instagram page. Instagram doesn’t have an in-built feature to let users check who’s viewed their profile and there’s a very good reason behind that – user privacy. Facebook-owned Instagram has all the data you’d need to check who viewed your profile, but it won’t share it with you because that could lead to a significant drop in user engagement on the platform.

Why, you ask? Well, since a significant number of Instagram users spend their time just checking out other profiles without posting anything on their own profile, if Instagram releases data regarding their activity, there’s a very high chance that they’ll stop using the app as much, which is definitely bad for business. Even though these users don’t engage with other people on Instagram, they still consume the same number of ads as everyone else and if they’re called out for their activity they might stop using the platform altogether.

Using Third-Party Apps to See Who Viewed Your Instagram Profile

So are there any third-party apps you could use to see who viewed your Instagram profile? Yes, there are an absolute ton of apps, both on the App Store and the Play Store, that will have you believe that you can see who views your Instagram account and find your Insta stalkers by giving them access to your Instagram account. But, do they work? Definitely not.

SocialView for Instagram is one of the iPhone apps that claims it can show you who viewed your Instagram profile. However, if you go through the reviews on the app’s page, you will find that it actually doesn’t work.

2. Profile+

Profile+ is another app that says it can show you who views your Instagram profile. However, this app doesn’t work either. In fact, it tries to make you pay to unlock features such as ‘who viewed my Instagram profile’ even though it won’t work. The app simply shows a list of users you have blocked, which is something you can see on the official Instagram app anyway.

3. Follower Analyzer for Instagram

Follower Analyzer is another app that claims it can show you who views your Instagram profile, when in reality it doesn’t do anything of the sort.

These apps just pretend to work and show a list of random Instagram usernames which keep changing every time you open the apps to make users feel that they’re doing something. More importantly, these apps run the risk of being a major privacy threat as they collect all your account data as soon as you log in with your Instagram account and give them access to the data.

What’s more, you can even have your account banned by using such apps, so it’s better to not rely on third party apps to see your Instagram stalkers.

Why Don’t Third Party Apps Work?

The most damning reason behind why these apps don’t work is quite straightforward. Instagram’s data policy clearly states that it only shares a user’s name, Instagram username and bio, profile photo and email address with third-party apps that have not been vetted by the company. Additionally, Instagram’s Graph API, which was introduced earlier this year, is much more restrictive than the older Instagram API platform, which means that apps that haven’t been approved by Instagram to use the API lose the ability to access the API altogether. So, now that third-party apps are out of the question, how can you see who viewed your Instagram profile?

Note: There are a lot of scammers out there who claim that they can tell you who has viewed your Instagram profile in exchange for money, or sometimes by asking for your account credentials. Beware of such fake claims, and don’t pay random people money with the hopes of gaining access to information that Instagram simply doesn’t let anyone see.

Using Instagram Stories/Highlights to See Who Views Your Instagram Profile

Even though Instagram doesn’t give users access to a feature with which they can check who’s visiting their profiles, it does have one that allows users to see who all viewed their Stories and Highlights. The feature can, therefore, be used to check who all have recently visited your profile. In order to make use of this feature to reveal your Insta stalkers all you need to do is tap on the profile picture icons lined up in the bottom left corner of your recent Instagram Stories. This will bring up a list of all the users who’ve checked out your story, including users who don’t follow you.

This feature will also let you block any users who you don’t want to share your Stories with by tapping on the menu button to the right of the user’s name and selecting the ‘Hide Story’ option, so you can easily block any Instagram stalkers you may have.

Since Instagram Stories expire after 24 hours, you’ll have to check the list on a daily basis (in case you upload that often). But if you want to get a long term overview of who’s been visiting your Instagram profile, you can check the same list on your Highlights, which also displays a list of all the users who’ve visited your profile (provided they played the Highlights).

Using Instagram Business Accounts to See Who Views You Instagram Profile

You can also see who viewed your Instagram profile by making use of an Instagram business account. Having an Instagram business account will give you access to important information about who’s been visiting your Instagram page but there’s a catch.

With a business account you’ll be able to access valuable insights about the users visiting your profile, including their location, age range, gender, and the time that they’re online. However, the insights won’t reveal the names of all the individual users who’ve visited your profile.

If that’s the kind of data you’re interested in, you can easily convert your personal Instagram account into a business account. To do so, you’ll have to navigate to the Instagram Settings and tap on the ‘Switch to Business Profile’ option, then connect your Instagram account to a Facebook Page that you administrate.

Instagram will then prompt you to choose which contact information you wish to pull from your Facebook page as Instagram business accounts require users to have at least one contact info. Your new Instagram business account is now good to go. It’s worth noting that Instagram Insights don’t pull historical data and starts collecting data only after the Instagram business account is set up.

How to Make Your Instagram Account Private

Now that we’ve explored all the ways in which you can see who views your Instagram profile, lets talk about how you can prevent someone from viewing your profile. The answer is quite simple. You can prevent unknown users from checking out your Instagram by making your profile private.

To convert your Instagram profile from public to private, you’ll need to navigate to the settings menu in the Instagram app and toggle the ‘Private Account’ option. It’s as easy as that. Do note that switching to a private account won’t have any affect on your existing followers, so you’ll need to weed out unwanted followers or Insta stalkers individually after converting to a private account.

So Can You See Who Views Your Instagram Profile?

So, if you’ve been wondering whether you can see who viewed your Instagram profile, well, you can’t. The only workaround, which involves checking who’s viewed your Instagram Stories and Highlights, isn’t accurate as it only shows all the users who viewed your Stories or Highlights and doesn’t account for all the users who went through the posts on your timeline. Third-party apps, as I’ve already explained, are no good and using them is definitely a waste of your time and money. In case you want more information about the users visiting your profile and can do without getting their names, then you can also convert your personal account to a business account. And finally, if not knowing who’s visiting your Instagram ID bothers you all that much, you can switch to a private account.

How to see who views Instagram profile. Cyber stalking

The social media gives no feature to see who views your Instagram profile. But it is still possible to figure out your page visitors, who stalk your Instagram and limit their access to the content.

Account owners can see the number of people who watched their video posts. The same statistics is available for photo-posts in Business and Creator accounts. But who’s exactly seen them knows only the social networking service.

Those who like your posts and comment on them are also easy to find if you don't hide likes. But likes and comments are not always evidence the user views your Instagram profile. Subscribers see your posts in their newsfeed. Only not subscribed people have to visit your Instagram first.

Watching posts without comments and likes is typical for stalkers on Instagram. One can notice the number of views exceeds the number of likes. This is not a mistake, the users were keen to know about your updates for sure. Instagram counts a video as viewed after 3 seconds. The time is both for Instagram Stories and posts. Now let's look at how you can see who stalks your instagram for free.

Business and Creator accounts give the audience statistics. Instagram shows location, age, gender and the number of visitors, no matter whether they are subscribed to you or not.

Remember, the statistics are collected after you switched the account to one of the Professional. Account owners can’t get information about the audience for the period when their accounts were Personal.

The statistics can only be seen from a phone. To see it, go to your profile page, then open the three horizontal lines in the top right corner, choose Insights.

In the first line you can choose a time period — 1,2 weeks or a month. A round with the letter “i” in the same line opens a short instruction. Below are the audience and content analysis sections.

Use services to see the statistics from a computer. Creator Studio is a good option. We wrote about it in the article How to post on Instagram from a PC or Mac. Open Statistics, choose the Action section to see Site and Profile visits. Age, gender, cities and countries analysis is available in the Audience section. The website shows statistics for the last 7 days for Professional accounts.

If you created a landing page with multiple links and added it to your Instagram bio, which we hope you did, you can see who views your account on the builder's website. There you can get more metrics, they depend on the builder.

For example, if your page is made on Taplink, you can learn your Instagram audience. You can tell that by studying and comparing statistics on each link. There are the number of clicks on links and conversion rate. Data is available for any day, week or month.

PRO Taplink account allows you to connect Google Analytics to get traffic data and users’ behavior. The service also offers to set goals for each link and track the progress.

Connect your Taplink account with Facebook Pixel to promote a brand on the social media website. This is another useful tool, which helps to optimize ads.

Use Stories to tell who viewed your Instagram profile. But you can say for sure a user stalks your Instagram account only if they are not subscribed.

One has to tap an avatar in profile, on the main page or in the search to view a Story. An account owner doesn't know whether it was tapped on his or her profile page.

Stories of all the users you are subscribed to appear above the newsfeed. Switching between the Stories posted by different users is automatic. Do not measure the audience’s interest by the number of people viewing your Story. Probably, a user just tapped someone’s Story and is viewing every next one.

This is how Stories help you to see who looked at your Instagram profile. If a user is not subscribed, he or she has to go to your profile or tap your avatar in the search. Seeing not subscribed user on the list of the views, you may rest assured they have interest in your account. There is no chance they got to your Stories by mistake.

Mind, users can view Stories anonymously using services. They are not shown on the listing, or Business and Creator statistics in this case.

The viewers are only displayed to the account owner. Tap your avatar in the newsfeed or profile. At the bottom left, you have the number of people who checked the photo or video. You will also see several avatars above the number. Tap them or swipe up, the full list will open.

Photos and videos remain in Stories for 24 hours, if the account owner doesn’t delete them earlier. But the statistics are available during the 48 hours after posting. You can see it in the Stories Archive on Instagram when the photo or video disappears from your page.

Here is how you can open Archive to see who views your Instagram profile: open your page, then tap the three lines menu and choose Archive. Tap one of the Stories. At the bottom left, you can find the number of viewers and open the usernames list.

Link clicks, Profile visits, accounts reached a story, Impressions and Navigation metrics are available to those having Business or Creator accounts. Open the viewers list and switch to the first tab with a bar chart icon.

Don’t be deceived by the usernames arrangement to find out who views your Instagram profile more often. No evidence confirms the listing is ordered by your or subscribers’ interaction. Instagram’s algorithms for the ranking are unknown.

If you don't see avatars and numbers at the bottom, nobody has seen the Story, or they use services for watching anonymously.

Users can add Stories to Highlights to make the content visible for more than 24 hours and only from your profile page. This is also another free way to see who views your IG profile.

You can see the number of the viewers and their usernames the same way you do it with disappearing Stories. The detailed statistics for Business and Creator accounts are also available.

If a user has seen photos and videos in Highlights that are not in regular Stories, he or she definitely views your Instagram profile.

Add photo and video to Highlights and hide them from all the subscribers. Not subscribed users will see them but will not know the content is limited for watching.

Choose Story in the Privacy settings. You select who to hide the content from in the upper line. Disclose the option and mark everyone.

Add Stories. There is an icon with the word at the bottom, click it to save in Highlights. Then delete the Story.

Now the content is shown only to not subscribed users. You don't have to search for it on the list.

None of the stalker apps give reliable and accurate results. The social media website does not provide information about visitors. These third-party apps show random users. What's more, they sell users’ data and charge money for getting the visitors list. Such apps are often filled with ads.

It’s possible, such Instagram analysis apps giving accurate results will appear. But only when the social media website changes its data policy or offers its own apps to check who viewed your Instagram account.

If you don’t want particular people to see your content — block them. Open a person’s page and disclose the three dots on the right.

The “Report” option gives the opportunity to tell on the page. Choose whether it is spam or inappropriate. Instagram will consider the report and block the user if agrees with you.

Choose the “Block” option. Instagram will offer to block the existing account or every one the user will make in the future, or you can block the user’s page. A blocked user can’t find your profile, posts, Stories and send messages. The notification about blocking is not delivered.

Choose “Restrict” to limit a user’s activity. His comments will be shown only for you two. You can manually make any of them visible for other Instagram users, or delete. Messages from a blocked user appear in Direct requests.

One more method to avoid unwanted users seeing your content is to make the account private and remove an Insta stalker from your subscribers. Thus, they will not be allowed to see your posts and Stories even using the third-party apps and services for anonymous watching.

You can see who viewed your profile on Instagram, here are several ways to know your admires or stalkers:

  • Account statistics tell what kind of users are interested in your content.
  • Highlights show who visited your profile page.
  • Use statistics of your mini-website in bio.
  • If you don’t want users checking and stalking your profile, then limit access to your content.

But remember, the list of users who views your Instagram account regularly will be not complete. For instance, they can use services for downloading Instagram Stories to view your profile anonymously.

Instagram profile statistics: 5 services + decryption

Instagram account statistics are information about users who visited the account and / or performed some action (liked, subscribed, watched the post, answered the question, etc. .).

I will not pour water about its importance, you already know this. Therefore, I go straight to the point and answer the question of how to view statistics on Instagram.

Important. Each “View” of the profile has its own characteristics, so some metrics may differ. And more metrics depend on the completeness of the profile (active buttons, links, etc.).

on Instagram

In order for you to have statistics at all, you need to switch to a business profile or an author account. It's a matter of three minutes. Go to Settings -> Account -> Switch to Professional Account.

Next, the social network will prompt you to select categories and type of account. After switching, new buttons will appear under the header.

1. Profile

To see some statistics, you need to maintain a page on a professional account for at least 7 days. Otherwise, she simply will not gather.

Now go to the statistics - click on the button of the same name. You can choose how long to display the data.

- Overview
1. Accounts covered

Number of unique accounts whose owners have seen any of your igtv posts, stories or videos at least once. Now about the metrics below:

  • Impressions. Unlike reach, they include multiple views of posts from the same account;
  • Account activity. Displays profile visits and clicks on: website address, "Call" button, etc.
Covered accounts

Next, you can see the reach of popular posts, stories and IGTV videos.

If you need, for example, a different post, or you want to see coverage for all posts, click next to the "All" section. Next, all posts will open, and you will see the reach on them in an oval.

In addition, you can select a period - display publications for the last 2 years, year, 6 months, 3 months, 30 days, 7 days and the desired metric to check.

By the way, read our article - how to increase the coverage on Instagram, it will not be superfluous

2. Interactions with content , save, repost, replies.

- Your audience

The section collects all statistics on your audience for the selected period. You can see the total number of subscribers, the growth over the period in percentage and in numbers, as well as the number of unsubscribes.

Audience data is available to you: by city and country, by age, gender, and most importantly - the periods of the greatest activity of users in your profile by hours or days.

- Posted content

The number of posts, stories, active promotions and IGTV videos you have posted during the selected period, including today.

For each type of content, you can also go to the section with all, for example, stories and select the required metric.

You can view the statistics of an individual publication without opening the general one. Select a post, click "View Statistics" under it, and voila, analyze the metrics.

To view the story statistics - open the desired story, go to views, then click on the chart next to it.

2. Advertising records

You can also check the advertising statistics in Instagram itself. This is done by looking at the statistics of a story or post that is being promoted as a sponsored post.

Advertising post

Lifehack. Do you want to receive targeted subscribers for only 1 ruble ? With the subscription page service - Instasub, it's real, besides, just : You create free useful material, launch ads on it with the call to “download for free”. Interactions:

  1. Profile transitions. The number of people logged into the account;
  2. Calls . Number of calls made during the campaign;
  3. E-mail. Emails sent during the promotion.

Interesting:

  1. Coverage. How many subscribed / unsubscribed people saw the post, as well as the percentage of coverage due to advertising;
  2. Impressions. The total number of views of the promotion, indicating the percentage of views from advertising;
  3. Subscriptions. The number of subscribed users during the promotion.

Promotion:

  1. Duration. Advertisement duration in days;
  2. Costs . The total cost of this ad entry.

Audience:

  1. Gender . Percentage division of the audience into women and men;
  2. Age range. Audience division by age;
  3. The best places. Geolocation of the reached audience.

Similar metrics are shown by the statistics of promotions carried out using stories. The only difference is that it is supplemented with details about scrolling through stories, as well as exiting them.

Speaking about advertising, I will also mention a proven way to increase sales through Instagram. Chatbot from MyBotan will help you. Chatbot in Instagram Stories is something new, right? Find out about the new tool, which is incredibly increasing sales, at the link.

through services

Profile statistics that can be obtained using standard Instagram tools do not provide all the information necessary for successful profile promotion. Therefore, many owners of commercial accounts use third-party services.

There are many different services for fast detailed analytics on Instagram. We recommend the first 3 in the table based on user experience. But this does not mean that the rest are somehow bad, we just did not test them and cannot vouch, but they will also provide you with analytics.

Service Free period Cost
Livedune 7 days from 400 ₽/month
Instahero Up to 1000 subscribers from 99 ₽/check
With the promo code "INSCALE" 30% discount for a full analysis
Trendhero Single account verification 732 ₽/month

Details on how to view statistics through services were described in our other article, so also go there and study. We also talked about how to analyze competitors.

Facebook statistics

Now about how to view Instagram statistics through Facebook. I will say right away that Facebook is for advanced users, and it shows statistics ONLY of your advertising posts. But with a huge number of different metrics.

And there is a special tool for viewing statistics from Facebook - Ads Manager. It connects through the Instagram account associated with the Facebook profile.

Metrics

I won't list all the metrics. I will touch on, perhaps, the minimum list of standard metrics that Ads Manager shows.

  1. Pay per click. Shows the average cost per click;
  2. The ratio of clicks to impressions. Percentage of those who saw the ad and clicked;
  3. Frequency. How many ads each person viewed on average.

By the way, Ads Manager allows you not only to view, for example, visit statistics, but also to create an advertising post for Instagram, but its settings are much more complicated, and that's another story.

As an advertisement

Briefly about the main thing

We figured out how to view statistics on Instagram. And I remind you that a systematic analysis of traffic statistics, interactions, etc. helps to maintain an account more efficiently, and due to this, increase not only coverage, but also engagement (and this is a very important indicator, you know yourself). You can even see who likes whom on Instagram, but more on that another time.

And in conclusion, I would like to highlight three main points in which statistics will become well, just an indispensable assistant.
