Group chats can be terrible for everyone, especially when you just need to send one message - like an invitation - to multiple people at once. WhatsApp has a much better feature that you can use instead: mailing lists.
The distribution list allows you to send the same WhatsApp message to up to 256 recipients at the same time. Each recipient receives the message as a normal WhatsApp message from the sender, instead of being included in a huge group chat that quickly gets out of hand. As an additional spam filter, only people who have the sender's phone number saved in their contact list will receive the message.
How to create a mailing list
Creating a mailing list is a little different depending on whether you are using an iPhone or an Android phone.
On an iPhone
On iOS, tap Mailing Lists at the top of the chat screen. On the Mailing Lists page, click the New List button.
Select all the people you want to add (up to 256) and then click the Create button.
This creates a mailing list with all the people you choose.
On Android
On Android, press the "Menu" button and then select "New Broadcast". On the New Broadcast page, select all the people you want to add and then press the green check mark.
This will add a new mailing list at the top of the chat screen.
Sending Broadcast Messages
To send a broadcast message, all you have to do is select the mailing list you want to use. It is very similar to a regular group chat, but everything you send is received by each person as a separate message.
If one of the recipients in the list replies to your broadcast, their reply message is sent only to you, not to the whole group.
Editing mailing lists
Editing mailing lists is also slightly different depending on whether you are using an iPhone or an Android phone.
For iPhone
Go to the broadcast list and click the information icon (the “i” icon in the blue circle).
