How to see hide last seen on whatsapp

How to Hide Your Online Status on WhatsApp

  • You can hide online status on WhatsApp — known as Last Seen — in your Privacy settings.
  • Choose whether only your contacts or nobody should see your Last Seen status.
  • You can also choose to exclude certain people from seeing your Last Seen status.

If you use WhatsApp regularly, chances are you've spotted the login status next to the name of some of your contacts.

Though WhatsApp makes your online status visible to everyone by default, you can easily change it.

WhatsApp online status

WhatsApp online status allows users to see the last time their contacts were active on the platform and whether they are currently using the app.

When someone is online, it doesn't necessarily mean they've seen your message — it simply means they're currently using the app.

Last Seen refers to the last time the person used WhatsApp and also doesn't mean that they have seen your most recent message. The only way to tell if someone has seen your message is the blue check marks beside the message.

If you don't want your WhatsApp contacts to know your Last Seen or online status, you can easily hide your status from everyone, make it available to only your contacts, or exclude certain contacts from seeing it through the app's settings.

Note: When you hide your own WhatsApp online status, you also can't view other people's statuses.

The steps to hide your Last Seen or online status on Whatsapp are simple:

1. Open WhatsApp on your phone and head to the settings.

2. Open the account settings, and then head to the privacy settings.

3. Go to the Last Seen settings.

4. Tap either My Contacts, My Contacts Except, or Nobody to choose how you want to hide your Last Seen status.

Here's the full guide on how to hide your online status on WhatsApp.

6. You have two options to hide your online or Last Seen status — you can choose for only My Contacts to see your status or for Nobody to see your status.

You can also choose My Contacts Except and select people from your contacts list who you don't want to see your "Last Seen" status. Then, tap Done in the top right corner on iPhone or the check mark in the bottom right corner on Android.

Note: While hiding your Last Seen means people won't be able to see when you were last online, it will still show them when you're currently online.

7. Once you've made a selection, your online or Last Seen status will be visible to just your contacts, no one at all, or the contacts you didn't exclude, depending on your selection.

How to Hide Your WhatsApp 'Last Seen' Status From Specific Contacts

In a new privacy-centric update released in August 2022, WhatsApp has added the ability for users to adjust the visibility of their "Last Seen" status on a contact-by-contact basis. Keep reading to learn how it's done.

As regular WhatsApp users will know, the "Last Seen" status of a contact you're in conversation with sits atop the conversation thread, informing you when that contact last opened and was active on the app.

Previously, WhatsApp let you disable your Last Seen status so that other contacts couldn't see when you were last online, but the setting's options were limited to "Everyone," "My Contacts," and "Nobody," and there was no way to make exceptions for individual contacts.

The good news however is that WhatsApp is switching things up by adding the option "My Contacts Except..." which lets you select specific contacts so that they don't see when the last time was that you were active on the messaging network.

Here's how to make the change to your privacy settings in the WhatsApp app for mobile.

  1. In WhatsApp, tap the Settings tab (the cog icon) at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap Account -> Privacy.

  3. Tap Last Seen.
  4. Select My Contacts Except....
  5. Choose the people from your contacts list that you want to hide your Last Seen status from.
  6. When you've finished selecting contacts, tap Done in the top-right corner of the screen.

If you don't see the new option in the Last Seen menu, make sure you've updated WhatsApp to the latest version, then try again.

whatsapp will hide your visiting time.

But not everyone

It's no secret that WhatsApp lags far behind Telegram in terms of functionality: the messenger is regularly criticized for lack of features, backwardness and low level of user data protection. And what about the lack of an application for the iPad? The peak of popularity of the messenger is far behind, and the management continues to feed users with breakfast. True Destiny WhatsApp for iPad is no longer of interest to anyone. But the company continues to add new features to the application in a dosed way: now you can safely hide the visiting time from some users in order to go to WhatsApp incognito . True, not everything is so simple.

A long-awaited feature is coming to WhatsApp. But does it make sense?

still appears in it

Millions of people still use the messenger and find it convenient due to the appearance of new features. But let's face it: Telegram is more convenient than WhatsApp and even allows you to hide your status and even view messages hidden by long pressing on the chat. Can WhatsApp do this? No. You can’t just take it, go online and go unnoticed.

You can hide the visit time from all and turn off the read report, but this approach raises more questions. Yes, and the very inclusion of this function goes sideways: you don’t see what time the interlocutor was and whether he read the message. WhatsApp finally solved this problem.

A new feature in WhatsApp

To be honest, many people think that turning off visiting hours on WhatsApp is kindergarten and pampering. But messenger definitely lacks privacy. So the company will add a feature that will restrict access to the last seen time - the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS just confirms this. True, hide the time of visit in WhatsApp will not work for everyone - the user will be able to prohibit only a certain number of contacts from seeing the time of the last visit. nine0003

WhatsApp now allows you to hide the time of your visit from the list of other users

So, the most malicious interlocutors who track your every step will no longer be able to guess when you were last online. Users have already noted that the WhatsApp developers again did everything exactly the opposite: they say, it would be better to figure out how to hide the visit time from everyone except the list of exceptions.

Even if you were waiting for just such a feature, you will have to accept: by enabling it, you will not be able to see the visiting time of users from this list. It is reported that beta testing of the version is already in full swing on iOS and Android, which means that WhatsApp update for everyone should be out very soon.

How to hide the time on WhatsApp

Is it possible to hide the visiting time from other users without waiting for an update?

At the moment, you can hide the visit time in WhatsApp either from all users at once, or only from those who are not in your address book. This can be done in the following way.

  • Open WhatsApp and select Settings. nine0028
  • Click "Account" and select "Privacy".
  • Go to the top item "Passed" and select "No one" or "My contacts".

On the other hand, WhatsApp, in fact, changes the awl for soap: in the next update we will have a new feature that allows you to write to a subscriber without adding a contact to the phone book. Accordingly, you can remove the user from the phone, turn on the visibility of the last visit only for your contacts - it will turn out almost the same. You can do the same now by deleting contacts from your iPhone and turning on the appropriate privacy settings, but leaving the chat. Yes, it will take a bit of fiddling, but it looks like nothing new in whatsapp will not appear .

How to discreetly read a message on WhatsApp

You can discreetly read the message by clicking on the chat itself. True, you won’t be able to scroll through it completely

However, if you want to go unnoticed in WhatsApp , you can turn off the “read report”: if you deactivate this function, then the sender will only see two gray checkmarks, signaling the receipt of the message. At the same time, neither you will have blue checkmarks when you send a message and it will be read, nor your interlocutors. True, you will still be seen in group chats - your name will be in the list of users who have read the message. nine0003

Nevertheless, it is much more convenient than to turn off the time of the last session in WhatsApp - even if you are online, you do not have to answer, and the likelihood that you will be "detected" is extremely small. And if you use WhatsApp Desktop at all, then you don’t have to worry: the application works in its own way and sometimes it doesn’t show at all that the person is online, and the message seems to come from offline.
