How to Set up and Use WhatsApp Web or the Desktop App
- You can use WhatsApp Web from your computer's browser by linking your account through a QR code from the WhatsApp mobile app.
- You can also use WhatsApp from your computer by installing the WhatsApp desktop application.
- You can open multiple WhatsApp accounts on your computer as long as you use a different browser window for each one.
Most people are familiar with using WhatsApp via a mobile app on their phone, but not everyone is aware that it's also possible to use WhatsApp on the computer desktop — either in a web browser or using a desktop app. The main difference? You still need to log into WhatsApp on the computer using your WhatsApp mobile app.
How to access WhatsApp Web or the desktop app
There are two ways to access your WhatsApp account on your PC or Mac computer:
- Use the web app. Go to web.whatsapp.com in a web browser.
- Use the desktop app. Install the WhatsApp desktop app on your Mac or Windows computer from the WhatsApp download page.
How to set up and use WhatsApp Web or the desktop app
1. Once you've opened the webpage or installed and run the desktop app, you should see a QR code on your computer.

How WhatsApp Web differs from the mobile app
Once you've linked your computer and mobile app, you should see your WhatsApp Chats page in the web app or desktop app. Everything you do on either the computer or mobile app will be kept in sync and mirrored on the other device. New messages will appear in bold and you'll hear a notification on your computer. Click any conversation to reply from your computer.
WhatsApp web replicates the chat conversations from your mobile app. Dave JohnsonWhatsApp offers other features on the computer as well:
- Click your own account icon to change your profile details like display name and About message.
- Click any contact icon to control your interactions with that user. You can start an audio or video call, for example, mute notifications, block or report the user, and delete the chat.
- At the top of the window you can also start a new chat (including start a new group chat) and see starred messages.
There are some significant advantages to using WhatsApp Web or the desktop app. It's often easier to type using a real mouse and keyboard, for example, and you can keep WhatsApp on the screen, side by side with other windows to copy and paste information into chat messages. And you can easily log into more than one WhatsApp account at the same time just by opening them in different WhatsApp Web browser windows.
On the other hand, be aware that you always need your phone to log into WhatsApp on the computer — there's no way to use WhatsApp Web without your mobile app.

How to access WhatsApp through a computer and laptop
Whatsapp is a very popular free program that helps you exchange messages between smartphones. The program is used to send text messages, video, audio, images and other files. The application works on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Nokia, Windows and other operating systems. The application was released in 2009, and in 2016 it became absolutely free.
Today, WhatsApp is used by more than 1 billion people worldwide. However, most users do not even know that this program can be used on a personal computer and laptop. In this case, all the functionality of the program will work in the same way as on a smartphone. This can be done in very simple ways that are available to any user.
Ways to log in to WhatsApp from a computer and laptop
So how to log into WhatsApp through a computer? After all, that's why we're all here. In fact, there are as many as 3 ways to run Whatsapp on a personal computer. We will describe all these methods further, but they are similar in many ways and require you, at a minimum, to have a camera on your phone.
The first way is to use the web version of WhatsApp
In order to start WhatsApp in web mode, you must:
However, there are several features of this method.
First, the best way to install WhatsApp online is to use the Google Chrome browser. Secondly, WhatsApp will only work if the program is enabled on the phone. Thirdly, such a browser version of WhatsApp is only a mirror of the mobile application.
The second way is to download the whatsapp application to your computer
In order to use the official whatsapp application for computers you need:
- Download whatsapp to your computer from the official website www.whatsapp.com. Don't forget to choose the correct bit depth for your operating system. Although I'm almost 100% sure that you have a 64 bit OS.
- Then install the program, following all instructions and installation rules.
- Then open the application and scan the code through the phone to synchronize.
Download the WhatsApp application to your computer
After opening, the application will require you to scan a QR code. You can do this using the WhatsApp mobile app. (It is important to know that the new version of WhatsApp requires you to scan a QR code before installation and then allows you to install the program on your computer)
The program will now run on the computer. It will be possible to use all the functionality that is in the mobile version. Contacts, as in the previous version, will automatically go to the PC.
The third method is Android OS emulation on a computer
To do this, you need to download a specialized emulator on the network that will simulate the Android operating system on a PC. There are many such programs on the Internet. The most popular are BlueStacks .
BlueStacks is an Android OS emulator that will help you access the mobile version of WhatsApp
After installing such an emulator, you need to register or log in to Google Play Market . Then download WhatsApp from the store and use it in the usual way on a personal computer, as if you were using a smartphone. After installing the application, you will need to confirm your mobile phone number once via SMS. This action needs to be performed only once, so you can safely use a virtual number to receive SMS.
This method is very convenient and does not require the QR code . With the help of an emulator, the program works practically and allows you to use all the functions of mobile WhatsApp without the support of a smartphone.
Conclusion
All these three methods allow you to quickly and effortlessly launch WhatsApp on your computer, use it as a convenient and fast messaging application with other users. As for me, the first way (web version) is the most optimal. You may also like another. A matter of taste.
But most importantly, using WhatsApp through a computer, the user will have access to all the functionality of the application for comfortable use. WhatsApp value their users and you can feel it.

WhatsApp Web on PC
Whatsapp Online is a tool for communicating in the popular instant messenger directly from your computer. It has a notification system that informs you when you receive new messages. For successful operation, the phone must be connected to the Internet on a permanent basis.
The following tools are available in the web application settings:
- Change wallpaper - a wide palette of colors from white to black is provided, which are used to paint over chats with interlocutors.
- Notification settings - mute sounds, configure the display of notifications on the desktop, disable and enable message thumbnails.
- Working with blocks - users can block their interlocutors or remove them from the black list.
- Creating group chats is a great tool for team communication or work brainstorming.
- Editing a profile - uploading new avatars, editing the name and additional information is supported.
- View archived chats - rarely used chats with interlocutors are placed here so that they do not interfere in the general list.
- Viewing favorite messages - a separate section with messages marked as favorites.
- Work with contacts - mute individual contacts, view additional information, block, delete chats, report spam.
- Sending data - in addition to text messages, it is possible to send photos and videos, contacts and arbitrary documents. Sending photos from the webcam works.
Sending voice messages is also supported. Select an interlocutor, click on the microphone symbol and say a message - it will be sent to the selected interlocutor.
When you disconnect your smartphone from the Internet, WhatsApp Web is interrupted until the connection is restored. During this time, the use of the service is not possible. Additionally, a low battery alert is provided.
Download whatsapp to computer
WhatsApp on a computer can work not only as a web service, but also as a program for Windows and Mac OS. Download it from the official site and log in according to the above scheme - the program and the web service are identical. Supported operating systems are Windows 8 and above (32 or 64 bit), Mac OS X 10.10 and above.
As in the case of the web service, the program cannot work without a smartphone connected to the Internet with the WhatsApp mobile application. When disconnecting the device from the network, you must wait for reconnection. It is allowed to connect a computer and a smartphone to the Internet through different providers.
WhatsApp in Opera browser
The popular Opera browser includes a built-in WhatsApp Wep client. It is called by pressing the corporate icon of the messenger in the left menu. Login to WhatsApp Web Online is made according to the instructions described in the article.
An undoubted advantage of the built-in client is the ability to work in the background. Log in and hide the messenger by clicking on its icon. When a message is received, a red circle will appear on the icon.
For convenience, launch the built-in client and click on the link "Receive notifications of new messages - Turn on desktop notifications". Now, when you receive another message, a notification will appear on the desktop.
WhatsApp as plugins
Plugins have been written for all popular browsers that allow you to work with the messenger. Here are just a few of them:
- WhatsApp RTL.
- WhatsApp For PC.
- Desktop messenger for WhatsApp.
Open the add-on store for your browser, enter the name of the messenger in the search box and install one of the suggested plugins. Authorization is performed according to a single scheme using a QR code.
WhatsApp Web on phone
To work with the messenger on a smartphone and tablet, use a stable original application. Fumbling with the browser version on mobile devices is absolutely not worth the time spent. Install the application from the Play Market or the App Store, log in from your phone and enjoy communication.
What can be the problems when using WhatsApp Online?
The WhatsApp Online service is extremely stable and does not cause any problems. The performance of the service is disrupted when the smartphone is disconnected from the Internet. Connect the device to the network and communicate as before.
If the battery is low, the service will display a warning and offer to connect a charger to charge the battery. The performance of the service with a low charge is not disturbed - it simply recommends charging the battery.
Please note that the web version of WhatsApp only works in one browser. For example, if when communicating through the Opera browser, a connection is made through Google Chrome, then Opera will notify you that the service is being used on another device.
Are you worried that someone might get access to the correspondence when communicating on a computer with many users? Launch the mobile app, go to the WhatsApp Web menu and sign out from all devices or from a specific device.
