Search through subscriptions
In the case when you need to find a friend or person that your friends should know, search through subscriptions is also suitable.
To use this method, you need to go to the account of your friend, who should tentatively have the person you are looking for in “friends”, and then click on the counter of his subscriptions.
After the done actions, you will see a list of all users who are subscribed to by the account owner. If you are sure that this user is subscribed to the account you need, then how soon you will find him depends only on the number of subscriptions.
Contacts Facebook
Most social networks try to interact with each other and provide access to each other's user pages.
Instagram and Facebook are no exception, moreover, they belong to the same owner. Therefore, if the person you are looking for is already on your Facebook friends and you want to find more of his Instagram, you can do it in just a few seconds.
You need:
- Go to your Instagram profile.
- Go to Settings - Interesting people.
- Select the "Follow your Facebook friends" section.
- Next, the Facebook login page will open. Sign in and allow the Instagram app to access your page.
- In the next step, you will see a list of your Facebook friends who are registered with Instagram. Choose the one you want and subscribe.
Search for people through VK
Similarly to the previous method, you can search for acquaintances on Instagram and through VKontakte friends. To do this, go to the menu Settings - Invitation and subscription to friends and select "Subscription to friends from VKontakte".
If the person whose profile you are looking for is not your friend on VKontakte, then look through his wall and try to find photos on it, under which there is a small Instagram icon. It means that this picture was transferred to VK from Insta.
If you click on it, the desired insta profile will automatically open.
Search for a person by phone number
It’s worth mentioning right away that searching for a user by phone number will be successful only if the number you know was used as a link to the page, or is indicated in its contacts.
Before proceeding directly to the search, make sure that the phone number is saved in the phone book on your smartphone. Further:
- Go to your profile page.
- In the upper right corner, click on the icon with the image of a man and a plus sign.
- Go to the "Interesting people" section, and then select "Contacts".
- When you open the "Contacts" tab, you will see a list of all users who are somehow connected with your phone book.
The numbers are not signed, so the account hiding behind the desired phone number must be searched manually by avatar and description.
Viber or WhatsApp
Using the standard functionality of the social network, you cannot find a friend who you have in your contacts in the messenger.
The social network does not integrate with them, but you can copy the user number from Viber or WhatsApp to the phone book and try to find a person using the previous method.
By mail
If you only know the person's email address, that's okay. Try typing your email in the Instagram search bar. Maybe this mail is listed as a contact on the page you need.
If all else fails, then drive this request into the search box of Yandex or Google. Perhaps this will help you find the pages of the people you are looking for, or some other information about the right person.
Search for a person on Instagram by photo
Found an interesting photo and want to find the person it belongs to on Instagram, but don't know how to do it? Formally, not at all. The social network functionality does not support photo search. But there are other ways too.
The photo search process is quite complex and easier to do from a PC than from a smartphone.
- First of all, you need to open Google image search.
You can do this by typing https://images.google.com/ into the browser line. A standard Google search page will open in front of you, but not the one that works with text queries, but the one that helps you find information from a picture or a link to it. - Next, click on the camera icon. Google will offer two ways to provide a photo for search: select it from the PC's memory; insert a link to the image if it is hosted on any Internet resource.
- After you search, get all matches for this image, even if they have some differences, for example, modified with a photo editor. If this photo was uploaded to an Instagram profile, then you will definitely find it in the search. Provided, of course, that the profile is not closed.
Google search
If you are not registered on the Instagram social network, but want to find a person's profile, then this can be done through the Google search engine. To find people without registration is enough:
- Open the Google search bar.
- Enter the data you know into it. For example, it can be a nickname, name, phone number, photo.
- Perform a search and view the results.
For a better match, you can add the word "Intsagram / Instagram" to the query. It's also a good way to find a person by only knowing the name. You may be able to find its relationship with the Instagram profile somewhere on the World Wide Web.
Ask a friend
If the information that you have is not enough for a full-fledged search, then try to collect additional information about the person. In the end, if you have a mutual friend, ask him to send you a link to the desired profile. There is no shame in wanting to friend someone on social media.
Bulk search
If you are interested in the mass search for people and the selection of the target audience, then the Instaplus service will best cope with this task. With it, you can select users from various sources:

What to do if you cannot find a person
It also happens that you are sure of the correct spelling of the nickname and have already found a profile on it, but now Instagram does not give it out in the search. There can be two reasons for this:
- profile temporarily/permanently blocked for violating the rules for using the social platform;
- the user has blocked you;
- users independently deleted their account from the social network.
In such a situation, there is nothing you can do but repeat the search in a few weeks in the hope that the account will be removed from the ban. If you've been blocked, you can view this profile from another Instagram page, as long as it's not public.
Search on Instagram is a little different than on other social networks.
