WhatsApp Group Admins Can Delete Any Message for Everyone in Latest Beta

by Tim Hardwick

WhatsApp has rolled out a new group chat feature to beta users on iOS that gives group admins the ability to delete messages from other participants, reports WABetaInfo.

WhatsApp has been busy building out its group chat features in recent updates, and this latest feature aims to help group admins better moderate conversations, which can involve up to 256 people on the platfrom.

For beta testers who have received "group admin delete" privileges, they will be able to delete any recent message from a chat group in which they are an admin, courtesy of a new "delete for everyone" option in the delete menu popover.

When a message is deleted for everyone in the group, group members are notified in the thread that a particular group admin removed the message.

Also new in the latest beta is an optional ability to view Status updates within the chat list. Similar to WhatsApp Stories, Status updates let WhatsApp users post photos and videos within the app that disappear after 24 hours.

As usual, WhatsApp hasn't offered any details on when these new features will roll out to the public while it develops them under the aegis of its beta testers.

In the last major update, WhatsApp users received the ability to adjust the visibility of their "Last Seen" status on a contact-by-contact basis, and a way to silently leave group chats without all members of the group being notified when you do. WhatsApp is also developing an updated Mac app that features native Apple silicon support.

You can bypass the 68 minute limit and delete any message much later. We will explain how the new WhatsApp feature works and show a life hack that makes it easy to manage the chats of the application.

68 minutes is not the limit. Delete messages at any time - we'll show you how to bypass WhatsApp rules. Hurry before the developers fix this vulnerability.

How to delete a WhatsApp message after sending

The latest app updates made it possible to delete messages sent to WhatsApp chat. And it does not depend on whether they were read or not.

  • Once you've sent a message, you have 68 minutes to delete it. When this time passes, there will be no going back.
  • To delete a message, hold it down until the message management menu appears. Click on the urn icon which indicates the delete option.
  • If 68 minutes has not yet passed, select "Delete for all". Later, only the "Delete for me" function will be visible, which will only delete the message from your chat, but not from the chat of the interlocutor.
  • Instead of a message in the chat, the notification "This message has been deleted" will remain. The recipient will also see this notification, regardless of whether they have read the deleted message or not.
  • In group chats, deleting works the same way.

By the way, if your interlocutor is offline, you cannot be sure that he did not read the message. Your friend might have seen it on their smartphone's lock screen.

Life hack: how to delete a message even after 68 minutes

Theoretically, you only have 68 minutes to delete a message for both parties. But this rule can be tricked and even older messages can be deleted.

  • To do this, open "Settings" on your smartphone and activate the flight mode.
  • On iOS, select "Date & Time" under the "General" category. On Android, the same item is in the main settings menu.
  • Turn off automatic time detection and then manually change the date and time to match the period you sent the message.
  • Open WhatsApp and delete the message as described in the instructions above. Activate the automatic time setting again and only then exit the flight mode.

Please note that this security hole will be closed shortly. But in any case, you will have a whole 68 minutes.

we delete from the interlocutor and not only

Is it possible to clean up the correspondence from our recipients and how to delete a message in WhatsApp for everyone? We offer a simple guide for deleting on Android and iPhone, as well as information about the features of this operation.

Many users communicate very actively in the messenger. And therefore, they can send a letter to the wrong addressee or write something wrong. In this case, the question will be relevant, if you delete a message in WhatsApp, whether it will be deleted from the interlocutor. And is it possible, in principle, to clean up the correspondence of the recipients?

Fortunately, this feature has appeared in the latest messenger updates. The user can delete a message in WhatsApp so that it is deleted from the interlocutor. This works in both personal and group chats. The option is especially convenient for those who communicate a lot, they are more likely to make mistakes. Now there is an easy solution to what to do if you need to delete a WhatsApp message sent by mistake.

See also how to restore Watsap, if necessary.

But for everything to be successful, there is an important condition - the deletion must be done within about 1 hour after sending the message. If you delay longer, the operation cannot be performed.

Let's consider in detail how to delete a message from an interlocutor in WhatsApp on Android. It will take only 4 steps:

  • Go to WhatsApp and open a chat where you want to remove unnecessary from the correspondence.
  • Tap and hold on a message. If there are several unnecessary messages, click on everything to erase them at once.

  • The trash icon will appear at the top of the screen.
  • Touch it and in the window that opens, select the "Delete from everyone" command.

By the way, in this way you can only erase messages that you have sent. It will not work to remove other people's texts from everyone, for example, in a group chat. This action is available only to the author. In another article, we will tell you all the ways to add a contact to the program.

Now instructions on how to delete a message from a recipient on iPhone in WhatsApp.

  • Open WhatsApp, go to the chat where you want to delete your message.
  • Tap and hold on an unwanted message to bring up the trash option icon. If necessary, in the same way, select a number of messages for elimination.

  • You may need to click on the word "More" and three horizontal dots to bring up the menu.

  • Then click on the trash can and check the option "Delete for everyone".

Everything is extremely simple, although there are some nuances. But we will tell about them further.

Let's find out what will happen if you manage to delete a message from WhatsApp from the interlocutor. Will your recipients know that you have cleaned up the correspondence? Yes, it is impossible to hide your actions. Instead of a successfully erased message, chat participants will see that you sent them something, but changed your mind. The standard text "This message has been deleted" will appear. If you noticed it in the dialogue, know that your interlocutor was correcting the correspondence.

Is it possible to install on a computer without a phone, you will find out in another review.

Features of deleting messages in WhatsApp

And now about some features of this function. Users worry about whether it is possible to delete a WhatsApp message before it has been read. You can, if you realized it quickly, and an hour has not passed since sending. But how do you know if your message has been read or not. For this, marking has been introduced in the messenger.

Under all your shipments, you can see checkmarks that show the status:

  • One gray tick. This means that the message was successfully sent.
  • Two gray ticks. Delivered to the recipient's phone.
  • The checkboxes turned blue. This means that the text has already been read.

If the chat is a group chat, the number and color of markers will change when the message is received and then read by all participants in the conversation.

It turns out that if you delete a message with one tick in WhatsApp, no one has read it yet.
