How to copy an instagram story

How to Share Someone Else's Instagram Story

  • You can share someone else's Instagram Story to your own if you've been tagged in it.
  • If you haven't been tagged, you can still share an Instagram story through direct message.
  • To share an Instagram story outside of the app, you can copy a link to send via text or email.

Some moments you want to preserve forever. Others are fun — but may have a bit of a shelf life. For those kinds of memories, Instagram Stories can be a great option.

Instagram Stories allow you to post so your followers can see what's going on, but they expire after 24 hours (unless, of course you add them to your Highlights).

Within that window, it is possible to share an Instagram story with others — or repost it to your own story — but there are a few stipulations. Here's what you need to know to share Instagram stories.

To share someone else's Instagram Story on your own story, you'll need to be tagged in the story. If you want everyone to be able to see it, the original poster's account will also need to be public.

If you aren't tagged in a story, you can still share it via direct messages on Instagram, or copy the link and share it externally through email, text, or another social platform.

How to share someone else's story to your own

You can share another person's story to your own story if they've tagged you in it and their account is public. If their account is private, the story will not be able to be viewed by anyone who doesn't follow the original poster.

If you haven't been tagged in someone's story, you won't be able to share it to your own. To learn more, check out our guide on how to repost an Instagram story.

Quick tip: You can also share any post to your own Instagram story, as long as the original poster has a public account.

Here's how to share another story to your own:

1. Open Instagram and tap the paper airplane icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

4. Make any edits and post the story to your own, as you would normally add to your story.

How to send a story as a direct message

You can also share a story privately using Instagram direct messages — even if you haven't been tagged in the story. Here's how to do it.

1. Navigate to the story you want to send.

2. Tap the three dots, located toward the lower-right corner of the screen.

How to share a story outside of Instagram

Finally, it's possible to share a story externally by copying the link and sending it through email, text, or other social platforms.

1. Navigate to an Instagram Story.

2. Tap the three dots, located in the lower-right corner of the screen. A pop-up menu will then appear.

3. Choose Copy Link. The link will then be copied to your device's clipboard.

4. Paste the link into the desired sharing option (for example, email or a text message) and hit send.

Your guide to reposting Instagram stories

How to directly repost a post to your Instagram stories

As of yet, there’s no way you can repost someone’s story on your own if you’ve not tagged (although, we’ll introduce you to a handy workaround shortly!) But, the good news is, you can easily reshare someone’s feed posts on your own story. When you come across a stellar post that you want to share with your community, you simply click on the little airplane next to the comment bubble. A list will appear with other people you could send it to, or, just click “Add post to your story.” Voila, you’ll find yourself in Instagram editing mode!

You have two options here. You can repost it as a minimalist-looking story, or you can tap on the image to get a preview of the post with the start of the caption. Whichever option you choose, it will automatically tag the person whose content you’re resharing. But, it can be a nice little extra to also include a larger, more visible tag with a ‘mention’ sticker. Not only is it just a good thing to do, but the original account is more likely to repost your repost (so meta!)

You can also use this strategy for reposting your own feed posts to your story. It’s the same process — just head to your feed post, and tap the little aeroplane icon to repost it to your stories. This is a super easy way to maximise the increase the reach and potential audience of your feed post, as many people spend more time on stories than they do on their feeds!

How to repost an Instagram story when you’ve been tagged

Tag, you’re it!

A brand or customer has mentioned you in a story, so naturally, you wanna brag about it! When you’re mentioned or tagged in a story, it’ll magically appear in your DM from that person. Simply click ‘Add post to my story’ and it will take you to stories editing mode where you can reshare it. It’s as easy as that!

One quick caveat, though — you can only repost the story while their story is still visible (within a 24-hour time frame). So, you’ll need to make it snappy!

How repost a story when you’re not tagged

So, what about when you see a story you like, but you’re not tagged? Or, maybe you’ve spied one that you’d love to repost but not yet — you’d like to slot it into your content calendar at a future date.

While we know that stories disappear after 24 hours, the good news is you can take a screenshot. While the process for doing this will depend on what smartphone you’re on, you can normally do it by holding in a button on your phone. This will then automatically save to your screenshot, where you can upload it into Plann and schedule it for when it suits you to post.

If it’s a short video you want to keep, hit the record button on your phone (again, this will depend on your device)  to take a screen recording and post it when it makes sense. However, if you’re going to use one these strategies, it’s a good idea to DM the person who’s content you’re sharing to ask for their permission. You’ll also want to make sure you tag them in the post!

How to repost a story on your feed

So, what about when you’ve posted an Instagram story so rad that you just have to immortalize it on your feed. You can do that too! Just head to your stories archive, select a story and click on the three dots on the right-hand side. Then, select ‘share as post.’ This will open it up in the photo editing tool where you’ll have the option to crop it to the right dimensions for your feed. Then, you can post it to your grid with all the bells and whistles you added to your story, like the text and emojis.

How to maximise engagement on your story reposts

It’s one thing to repost an epic story. But, in order to get more eyeballs on it and generate engagement, you really need to make it your own. Here are some ways you can maximise engagement on your story reposts:

—Targeted hashtags: You can add these either in your text or in the ‘hashtags’ stickers, to attract people within your niche and audience

—Stickers: From the poll to the quiz and question stickers, there are endless options to generate conversation around your stories

—Text: Play around with Instagram’s new font selection and add more detail to your story with text

—GIFS: These animated icons are a fun way to represent your mood or add some engaging trappings to your digital design. You can even spice up your GIFs with some exciting text or subtitles with this easy and handy Gif Editor tool from Motionbox. You can even add elements that will turn your GIFS into a more visually engaging piece, such as, shapes, background images, video, and audio.

—Tag the original creator. Remember, give credit where credit is due!

By taking a few extra minutes jazzing up your story reposts, you’ll do the original creator justice and keep your community coming back for more!

So, now you know how to easily repost a story on Instagram, the easy and right way. Did you know that you can schedule your stories in Plann? Getting started is free and easy, create your first post in just minutes.

How to add someone else's story to your Instagram story and promote your blog with it

In one of the latest updates to the Instagram policy, it became possible to repost other people's stories to your profile. The option allows you to advertise other accounts (the author is automatically marked), share useful, funny content, and post personal moments. This is a useful tool for promotion if you know how to use it correctly.

Let's figure out how you can add someone else's story from your profile to your Instagram story. There are several ways, for each there is a separate step-by-step instruction.

Make a breakthrough in the development of your Instagram blog using the multilink service from https://hipolink.net/ru Hipolink! The method is free, promotion is fast. The first subscribers come within 10 minutes after the link is posted!

Repost stories through the mark

If a friend posted stories and tagged you, a notification will be sent to direct. A clickable "Add this to story" button will appear in the Instagram directive. By clicking on it, the story will automatically be published on the page in a bright circle, and after 24 hours it will disappear (disappeared stories can be found in the archive and republished).

This is the easiest way to add someone else's story to yourself. At the same time, the author of the post will be indicated in the story, all those who have looked will be able to go to his Instagram profile (this can be used for unobtrusive advertising, paid PR).

If the repost is done to promote the account, the owner's profile must be public. Before adding stories to yourself, you can enlarge it, reduce it, attach stickers, inscriptions, edit it to the desired parameters. To quickly add stories to yourself, ask a friend to tag you on an Instagram post.

This is an effective way that does not require saving stories, using third-party utilities, or publishing them separately on Instagram. And it doesn't violate copyright.

Repost stories through the "airplane" in 2021

If the user has not marked you in the Instagram story, you can also add it to yourself. How to repost, step by step instructions:

- Launch the mobile application.

- Open the desired story from the line with users.

- In the lower right corner, click on the airplane icon.

- From the list, select the "Add to History" option.

- Confirm the action.

This way you can forward other people's stories to other users on Instagram. The option is only available for the latest version of the official app. If the "airplane" does not appear under the story, update Instagram. If the update is not available, wait a few days - for all regions, Instagram updates are released at different intervals.

Sometimes there is no repost button under stories, or a button is available to forward only to friends. This means that the author has set a limit on the reposting of his stories in the privacy settings of the account. You can get around this limitation only with the help of special services. Attention! Never give third-party programs access to your personal Instagram page!

If your goal is to save content you like from someone else's post, take a screenshot or screen recording. So you can save photos, videos in the phone's memory without using third-party programs. The author will not know that a screenshot of his stories has been taken.

Repost stories through special utilities

If the previous methods did not work, you will have to resort to third-party programs and applications. They offer different features. How to repost a story on Instagram to your story, share a friend's story

Instagram stories are especially popular. Often you want to share your favorite post on your page. To repost stories on Instagram, you need to use special programs for mobile applications. It is not yet possible to do this directly on the network itself.

How to copy photos or stories from another account to your story

You can add something interesting to your profile in several ways. It is available on the most common operating systems: Android and iOS. To upload a photo, you need to find the desired picture or video in the feed of another user. A special sign in the form of a paper airplane will appear below. If the page is open, it will be enough to click on it and mark “place in history” in the pop-up window. The post will then appear in your account.

When you need a repost to your story, make sure this feature is available. An option must be enabled in the stories settings to allow sharing posts with other people.

It's worth knowing that the feature is only available if the app has been updated. If the mobile device does not support the latest updates, then you will need to look for other ways to resolve the issue.

How to repost someone else's story

To add stories from another account to your own, you will need special programs that are available for download.

No additional software is required to post someone else's stories to share with subscribers. Everything is done directly in the application itself. To do this, find your favorite post. A special sign in the form of a paper airplane will appear in the lower right corner. When you click on it, a pop-up window will appear, which will display a list of people to whom you can send a post. Sometimes posting to stories is allowed, but it depends on whether the account is open for this.

Some functions are different on mobile devices with Android software and on iPhone. This is due to the advanced features of iOS. Therefore, iPhone owners experience less discomfort when using mobile services.

The official way

In order to legally post someone else's story on Instagram to your account, the user who posted the story on his page must tag a friend. In this case, stories can appear in the user's account without unnecessary manipulation.

Through third-party apps

Sometimes it's not possible to share other Stories directly. In this case, third-party services will help.

Particularly popular for Android are:

  • Story Saver for Instagram - Story Assistant;
  • StorySave utility;
  • Software - StoryReposter.

If the mobile device supports iOS software, then other programs will work:

  1. RepostStory for. Remains incognito when working with other pages.
  2. Repost and Save for Insta. There is an option to save stories.
  3. Instant Repost. The software allows you to place publications sent to direct in the feed.

Many of the options listed have paid content. Therefore, a number of free features are very limited.

To work with the programs, you will need to register through an account. After that, the content will be saved and the post you like can be downloaded and shared with others. Be sure to specify the nickname from the profile whose story was. Otherwise, it will be considered plagiarism and the service has the right to remove it.

Apps allow multiple social networks. The most common are Instagram and Facebook.

Repost using a screenshot

It is possible to place someone else's post on a personal page using a screenshot. To do this, you need to copy the information and take a screenshot. After that, upload the file to your own stories. It will look like a repost, but in any case, it is worth tagging the owner of the story. It will be enough to specify a nickname from the profile. Also, it is highly advisable to get permission from the author himself, as he will receive immediate notification that the story has been posted.

How to find out who made the repost

If the user noticed his publication on another page, then in the personal application he can see who shared his information.

In order for an outsider to be able to post someone else's stories in their feed, you will need special permission from the author. The latter opens up the opportunity to repost stories for a day and marks those persons who have been granted this.

If the subscriber uses the availability, the author will be notified of the publication on another page. So he can control the transitions. In addition, when viewing a published story, the user displays all the statistics on views and reposts: the number and profiles.

How to save someone else's story

The question arises whether another person can repost stories. This is possible provided that the author has opened access for users. In this case, you can share information through a mobile application, but this happens very rarely.
