Note: If you log into Instagram using Facebook, you need to change your password through Facebook's settings, not through Instagram.
How to change your Instagram password on the mobile appThe steps to change your password in the mobile app are essentially the same for both iOS and Android.
1. Open the Instagram app.
2. Tap your account icon in the lower-right corner to go to your profile page.
Quick tip: If you have multiple Instagram accounts and want to change the password for a different account, tap and hold the account icon at the bottom of the screen and choose the account you want from the pop-up window.
3. Tap the three horizontal lines in the top-right of the screen and tap Settings.

Note that these instructions are for people who use an independent login. Since its acquisition in 2012, you have been able to sign in using your Facebook credentials, and if you do this then you’ll want to change your password there instead.
Assuming that you are using an independent login, here's how to change your Instagram password or reset it.
How to change your Instagram password on the app
For most people, changing your Instagram password is best done via the app.
1. Open the Instagram app, and go to your profile

2. Ensure you’re in the right account
(Image credit: Alan Martin)This will be an unnecessary step for most, but if you have multiple profiles on the app (if you have business and personal accounts, say) make sure you’re on the right one. If you’re not, simply tap the arrow next to your name and select the one you want to alter.

4. Open Settings

5. Open Security

6. Select Password

7. Enter your new chosen password
(Image credit: Alan Martin)Just type in your current password once, and your new password twice, and you’re done. If you’ve forgotten your existing password, then there’s a link here to reset it.
Don’t forget to add your new chosen login to any password managers you might be using.
How to change your Instagram password on desktop
The process changing your Instagram password is pretty similar on desktop.
1. Go to the Instagram site

3. Click “Change Password”

4. Pick a new password

How to reset your Instagram password
Of course none of this is much use if you can’t log in to your account in the first place. Here’s how to reset your Instagram password if you’ve forgotten it.
1. Go to the Instagram log-in page

2. Press “Forgot Password?”

3. Confirm who you are
(Image credit: Alan Martin)In order to reset a password without knowing what it is, Instagram needs something more from you. Enter either your associated email address, the account name or (if connected) your mobile phone number. Then press “Send Login Link.”

Either way, enter it twice and you’re done.

- Open your profile on your phone, then move to the account menu by clicking on the person icon. Then, in the upper right corner, click on the three horizontal lines.
- Next, move to the item " Settings " at the bottom of the screen, click on it.
- In the next list, click on the heading " Security ".
- In the " Login Security " block, find the " Password " tab.

Change Instagram password on PC

Through the BlueStacs emulator
The password is changed in the same way as on smartphones. For the method to work, you need to install the emulator and Instagram in it.
Through an app from the Microsoft Store
On a Windows 10 PC, you can install an app that you download from the Microsoft Store:
- Go to the Microsoft Store, then type Instagram in the search bar. In the list of options found, click " Download ". If it says " Run " instead, the program is already installed.

How do I change my Instagram password if I'm logged in?
On the one hand, the method is the simplest, as it allows you to set a new security code via your phone in a few clicks. On the other hand, it requires an active account login and knowledge of the old password, which is not always applicable. If the current password is known, we recommend using the current method.
How to change your Instagram password:
- Go to the rightmost profile tab.
- Click on the button in the form of three stripes and select "Settings".
- Touch the "Security" line and click on the "Password" element.
- Enter the current password and 2 times the new one we want to change it to.

How to change the password if you forgot the old one?

- Access to the email account registered to. A confirmation link will be sent to change your password.
