How to block (and unblock) someone on Facebook

But many-a-times you stumble across the wrong kind of people on the popular social networking platform. Many-a-times you meet stalkers who harass you online. Many-a-time you meet bullies who tend to harm and harass you on mentally on social media. Many-a-times you simply don't want to some people.

So what would you do? What do you do when you meet bullies, harassers or people who you believe are toxic for your health? You block them.

But with Facebook introducing so many features and tools every day, it is easy to get lost finding the right set of controls. So here are a bunch of easy steps using which you can block someone on Facebook:

When you are using Facebook's web-based platform:

- Open the profile of the friend you want to block.

- Now click on the three dots next to the Message option.

- Click on Confirm button to block.

When you are using the Facebook app:

- Open the profile of the friend you want to block.

- Now tap on the Friends option right next to the Message option (iPhone users).

- Tap on the Block option.

- Then tap on Block option again to confirm.

Alternatively, you can also un-follow a friend. Un-following a friend means that while you will remain friends on Facebook, you will stop seeing posts from your friend. You can also snooze all the posts from a friend for 30 days.

Now that you have blocked an annoying friend you can rest be assured that the person won't bother you, at least not on Facebook for the foreseeable future. But what if you blocked a friend just you were angry with them and now you want to be friends with them on Facebook again? Or what if you blocked the wrong Pooja or Siddhant instead of Siddharth?

When you are using Facebook's web-based platform:

- In your Facebook profile, tap on the downward arrow next to the Quick Help option.

- Now click on the Settings option.

- Tap on the Blocking option on the left side of the window.

- Now you will see a list of people you have blocked on Facebook.

- Tap on the Unblock option next to the name of your friend and you are done.

When you are using the Facebook app:

- Open the Facebook app and tap on the hamburger menu on the bottom right corner (iOS users).

- Tap on Settings and Privacy option then tap on Settings option.

- Now scroll down to the Privacy option and tap on Blocking option.

- Here you will see a list of people you have blocked on Facebook.

- Tap on the Unblock option next to the name of your friend and you are good to go!

Having a problem with someone on Facebook? Maybe someone is being rude, leaving mean comments, cyberbullying, cyberstalking, or otherwise harassing you on Facebook? Perhaps the easiest way to stop this is by blocking these users on Facebook with just a couple of clicks from iPhone or iPad.

Almost all social networking platforms today allow users to block people who’re giving a hard time. This is a good thing in that it provides you the option to stop any further harassment or trolling on the platform by choosing to block those users. Fortunately, Facebook offers a convenient way to block and unblock other users.

Whether someone is just annoying you, harassing you, cyberbullying, being obnoxious, creepy, spammy, or otherwise disturbing, read on to learn how you can block users on Facebook. And of course we’ll cover how to unblock someone too, just in case you change your mind.

How to Block Someone on Facebook

Blocking and unblocking your friends, followers and other users on Facebook is a fairly simple and straightforward procedure. Just follow the steps below to learn how to take advantage of this feature.

  1. Open the Facebook app on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Visit the Facebook profile that you want to block. Here, tap on the “triple-dot” icon located right next to the Messenger icon, as shown in the screenshot below.

  3. Now you’ll find the option to block this person. Simply tap on “Block” to proceed further.

  4. You’ll get a prompt to confirm your action with a brief description of what blocking in Facebook actually does. Tap on “Block” to confirm.

  5. You’ve successfully blocked the user.

That’s it, they’re blocked and won’t get through to you.

How to Unblock Someone on Facebook

Now that you know how to block someone, learning how to unblock is useful too.

  1. If you want to unblock a user at any point, head over to the Facebook menu by tapping on the icon at the bottom-right corner of your screen. Now, expand the “Settings & Privacy” category and select “Settings”.

  2. In the settings menu, scroll down and tap on “Blocking” to review people you’ve previously blocked.

  3. Here, you’ll be able to view a list of all the people you’ve blocked. In order to unblock someone, just tap on the “Unblock” option located right next to their Facebook name.

  4. Once again, you’ll be prompted to confirm your action. Choose “Unblock” to complete the process.

There you go. Now you know how to block other Facebook users, and even manage your blocked list.

Unlike Instagram, when you block someone on Facebook, you won’t be able to view their profile until you unblock them. Also, if you do unblock them, you won’t be able to block them again for another 48 hours. Regardless, the person will not receive a notification whenever you block or unblock them.

That being said, there’s a chance you’ll see content about the person who you blocked through your mutual friends. Additionally, the conversations you’ve had with the blocked user over Facebook Messenger will stay in your inbox. If you share a group conversation with the blocked user, you’ll be able to read the messages they send too.

If you bothered to block someone on Facebook, you might also want to block them on iPhone too, to block their messages and phone calls from coming to you. And if you use other popular services and social networking sites to stay connected with your friends and family, you might want to take advantage of the blocking feature available on Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Gmail, etc. in a similar way.

And if you’re completely sick of Facebook, and ready to move on and do something completely different, you can always just delete your Facebook account and be done with the service once and for all.

Classic Pages

We recommend blocking access to a Page for people who consistently spam it. You can allow them access again at any time. If you stop someone from accessing your Page, that person can still share content from your Page elsewhere on Facebook. But they will no longer be able to message and like your Page, post to it, and comment and like posts on your Page. nine0003

Deny access to your Page

There are two ways to prevent someone from accessing your Page.

In a post this person posted on your Page:

Click the icon in the lower right corner of the Facebook window.

Click Pages.

Go to your Page and click Posts, then Visitor Posts.

Click in the top right corner of the selected person's post.

Click Deny Page Access and then Confirm. nine0003

In the list of people who like your Page:

Click the icon in the lower right corner of the Facebook window.

Click Pages.

Go to your Page and click the icon.

Click People and other Pages and select People who like this Page.

Click Deny access next to the selected person's name.

Select OK.

To use other options to deny access, go to your Page from the Facebook Pages Manager app or sign in to Facebook from a computer. nine0003

Allow access to the Page

Click the icon in the lower right corner of the Facebook window.

Click Pages.

Go to your Page and click the icon.

Click People and other Pages and select Blocked people and Pages.

Click Unblock next to the name of the person you want to allow access.

New version of Pages

If you help manage a Page on the new version of Pages and want to block user access, you must have access to that Page on Facebook. If you have access to perform certain tasks related to content, messages, or community activities on your Page, you can block people from accessing other tools. nine0003

If you block a profile from accessing your Page in the new version of Pages, they will no longer be able to:

See posts on your Page.

Tag your Page.

Invite your Page to events or groups.

Start a conversation with your Page.

Find your Page using Facebook search.

If you block a follower of your Page, they will lose that status. nine0003

Note. By blocking a profile or a Page, you are only blocking access to your Page. Your Profile or Page will retain access to the apps, games, and groups that you share.

To unblock profile access to your Page:

Click your profile picture or icon at the bottom of the Facebook window.

Select your Page. You may need to click Change Profile or Select Profile first.

Tap your profile photo or icon again, and then select Settings and privacy.

Click Settings and then Page Settings.

Select Lock.

Click Unblock next to the desired profile.

Adjust your privacy settings to protect your Facebook profile online

Unlike the mobile version, the web version of the social network does not offer an easy way to block your Facebook profile. nine0003
