How to create a local backup of Line Chat on iOS and Android • Oki Doki

Line is a popular chat application that allows people to send messages, make telephone calls, video calls, etc. My favorite feature of Line Chat is the extensive selection of stickers not found in popular chat apps like WhatsApp. That's why I use Line as my messaging app. And for security purposes, I create and store local backups of my online chats so that I don't lose them even if I lose or lock my phone. In this article, I will show you how to create a local backup of Line chat on iPhone and Android devices.

Back up Line Chat locally on iOS and Android

Like other messaging apps, Line allows users to back up to the cloud. Whether you're using Android or iOS devices, there are several methods you can use to back up Line chats to Google Drive and iCloud.

    • To create a cloud backup of Line chats on iOS, open Line and go to Settings -> Chat -> Chat History Backup and click Back Up Now.
    • On Android phones, go to "Settings" -> "Chats" -> "Backup and Restore Chat History" and click "Google Drive Backup".

But I don't use any of these methods for Line and all my chat apps. This is because while messaging apps like Line offer end-to-end encryption, your online backups are not encrypted. So, in theory, anyone with access to your Google Drive or iCloud account can read these chats. I, for one, am a little skeptical and therefore prefer to keep offline backups of my chats.

What I love about their website is that they have official guides for all the features the app has to offer.

Well, given that you've downloaded and installed the app, the process for backing up your chats is pretty straightforward.
