How do you look at your archived photos on instagram
How to Use Instagram's Archive Feature
After years of writing "LET ME HIDE PHOTOS FROM MY PROFILE" in Instagram's review section on the App Store, the mysterious people behind the social media platform have *finally* heard my pleas. (Bless. 🙏)
Thanks to an absolutely life-changing update, you can archive photos from your IG grid, hiding them permanently or temporarily from your followers. So instead of posting and deleting four times before I get my filtering right (it's an art, people), I can just hide the pic from my profile until I've decided whether or not it's fit for public eyes.
How to Archive Instagram PhotosFirst, open the photo or video you want to Archive (yes, that's a photo of me and Millie Bobby Brown)(no, I will not actually be archiving it – the world needs to see this content). Click the three dots at the upper right corner of your photo, then tap the "Archive" option.
Kelsey Stiegman//Instagram
Immediately, the photo will disappear from your feed and show up in your "Archive" folder. You can view your archives via the little three dashes that appear at the top right corner of your Instagram profile. Click that icon, then select the "Archive" option that pops up.
Kelsey Stiegman//Instagram
From there, click the "Archive" option that appears at the top of your screen and select "Posts." The folder will hold all your hidden photos for your obsessive reviewing pleasure.

If you decide that the photo does deserve to live on your prof after all (as Millie does, obviously), tap the three dots again, select "Show on Profile," and BOOM – right back where it started, ready to rack up alllll the likes.

How to Archive Instagram Stories
The Archive feature isn't just for your regular posts – it also saves all of your Instagram Stories automatically (yes, even after 24 hours). To see your Archived Stories, click the "Archive" option from your profile, again. At the top of your screen, it will say "Archive" with a little arrow next to it – tap that, then click "Stories" from the drop-down.
Kelsey Stiegman//Instagram
This will open up a folder with ALL your past Stories, which in my case involves leopard print Vans, mirror selfies, and a lot of jewelry.

From there, you can save individual pics and videos to your camera roll OR post them to the Story Highlights section on your profile. Just click the three dots in the top right corner of the screen (shown above), then hit "Create Highlight."
Then you can select which stories you want to appear on your Highlights.
I know I don't say it enough, but Instagram, I love you.

How to View Your Archived Posts on Instagram
By John Awa-abuon
When you add posts to your Instagram archive, where do they go? Here's how to view them...
If you're like most people, you have a few posts on Instagram that you would rather not have anyone see anymore. Maybe they're from a time in your life that you'd rather forget, or maybe they just aren't very flattering.
Luckily, Instagram makes it easy to hide these posts from view without deleting them thanks to its archive feature. But what if you want to revisit these images and videos later?
In this article, we will show you how to view posts that you've archived on Instagram.
What Does Archiving an Instagram Post Do?
When you archive a post on Instagram, it means the post is no longer visible on your profile.
However, the post is not deleted, and you can view it at any time by going to your archive. You can also choose to unarchive the post, which will make it visible on your profile again.
If you're active on Instagram, chances are you've had to hide a photo from your feed solely because it didn't fit into your carefully curated feed. But just because a photo doesn't fit into your feed, doesn't mean you don't want to keep it.
The archive feature allows you to hide these posts without having to delete them. This can be useful if you want to keep the post for sentimental reasons.
How to View Your Archived Posts on Instagram
The archive feature is only available on the mobile version of Instagram, so you'll need to use the Instagram app to view your archived posts.
That said, here's how to view posts you've archived on the gram:
4 Images
- Open the Instagram app and go to your smartphone.
- Navigate to your profile.
- Tap the hamburger icon to reveal a menu.
- Select Archive.
- Tap the downward-pointing arrow to navigate between tabs for your Stories, Post, and Live archive.
You will be able to view all of your archived posts here. We've earlier covered how to archive and unarchive posts on Instagram. If you're not sure how to do that, be sure to check out our guide.
Can Other Users See Posts You've Archived?
When you archive a post, it's only visible to you. Not even people tagged in the photo can see it. The only way for someone to see an archived post is if you unarchive it.
Access Your Instagram Easily
The Instagram archive feature makes it easy to hide posts without deleting them. Revisiting them is also simple, as long as you know which menus to access.

How to extract a post or story from the archive on Instagram
Instagram* allows you to save not only stories, but also posts. But how do you unzip a post? We understand in a series of short instructions.
Why archive posts on Instagram*
Post archiving is a useful tool that allows you to save posts, live broadcasts and stories in a separate section. Only the owner of the account can see it, the content in the archive is not available for viewing by other users of the social network. nine0003
In everyday life, the function is useful if you need to remove irrelevant posts, which, for some reason, it is a pity to delete permanently. Commercial accounts can use the tool more broadly. For example, as part of an advertising campaign, they can temporarily hide all publications in order to post one big post with a promotion. It attracts attention, conveys a sense of scale and creates intrigue.
Posts can be hidden in order to temporarily place such ads in the profile old. In order not to delete old posts, it's easier to hide them. nine0003What about stories? They are automatically saved to archives, from where it is convenient to pull them out later to save to your phone, repost or send to highlights. For more information on how albums work in general, read the separate article “How to add and change Instagram Highlights*”.
How to work with archives and restore posts - we will tell further in small and visual instructions.
How to save a post to the Instagram archive*
When archiving, the post will be saved with all comments, hashtags, tags and publication date. It will be hidden from your feed and the feed of other users, only you will see it in a special section. nine0003

The application interface on iPhone and Android is the same, so this instruction (and all subsequent ones) is relevant for any phone. nine0003
How to save stories to the Instagram archive*
The social network automatically sends stories to the archive 24 hours after publication. But if they are not displayed in the "Archive" section, then saving must be re-enabled. There are two ways: through the settings and while browsing.
Enable saving stories through the settings:
- Go to the application settings through the profile.
- Select "Privacy".

How to recover a deleted post on Instagram*
Recently, deleted posts are stored for 30 days, during which time they can be pulled back. But for this you will need to verify your identity using a special code that will be sent to your email.

After unzipping, the post will return to the feed with all comments and the same publication date as it was. It will take the place in the feed where it was previously, i.e. it will not be re-published. As I said above, the social network does not delete posts - it rather hides them in the archive with a further opportunity to return everything as it was.

- Select "Share".
- Editing a story: adding a signature, stickers and, if necessary, deleting the "Memories" badge.
- Publishing.
In conclusion
Is it possible to return photos to Instagram* from a computer? Unfortunately, the social network site does not have a menu with archives of publications. Therefore, even if you switch to mobile layout, you will not be able to access the archives. Of course, you can install an Android emulator on your computer, download the application from Google Play and go into it, but it seems easier to use the phone. nine0003
On the other hand, posting from a computer is often convenient, especially if you have to type a lot of text on the keyboard and regularly make interactive stories. These opportunities are provided by the delayed posting service SMMplanner - where you can also put many posts and stories into postponement at once, which frees up a lot of time.
We can customize all aspects of a post: text, photo, video, hashtags, tags, comments. You can even upload a video and make a story with full functionality (stickers, polls, gifs, etc.)Of course, the service will be useful primarily for SMM-persons and those who maintain several accounts and cross-post to several social networks at once. In any case, try it - the first week is free, and during this time it will become clear for sure whether you need such wide functionality or not.

Why do you need the archiving function on Instagram
Let's say you decide to revise the posts on your Instagram page and while browsing you find unnecessary posts that have lost their relevance. Deleting posts and photos is not a good idea: over time, content may be needed again. nine0003
Actually adding to the Archive is hiding the story / publication from the feed. It should be emphasized that this is not a deletion, as it used to be on Instagram. By archiving content, you hide it from the eyes of other users, while it is actually available through your account. See also other archive functions.

Where to find the archive
The archive is located in the Instagram application section of the same name. In turn, it consists of two subsections - Archive of stories and Archive of publications. nine0003

- Go to your profile and click the menu button at the top right of the screen.

- The selected post will be sent to the Instagram archive.

How to unzip photos on Instagram
Let's say you changed your mind and now you want to return a photo from the Instagram archive to your feed. Actually, it's very easy to do this. To restore a post from the archive, follow these steps:
- Open the Instagram Archive
- Select the post you want to unzip.
- Click on the menu button at the top and select the Show on profile option.
How to use the Archive function
As soon as this feature appeared on Instagram, not all users appreciated it and did not understand its purpose. We offer several ways to archive the function.
Putting things in order in the Instagram feed
Of course, the possibilities of the archive are not limited to this. This feature is useful if:
- you decide to tidy up your Instagram feed,
- want to give your profile integrity and completeness,
- you change the direction of the brand or the image of the person.
Just add questionable and unnecessary materials to the archive and see how it affects the “look” of the updated profile.
Instagram archive allows you to experiment by adding or deleting posts, photos with the ability to quickly restore to the feed.
If you don't like something, restore everything from the archive and experiment again after a while, with fresh thoughts and inspiration. nine0003
Removing irrelevant or outdated content
In fact, there are many reasons for deleting posts from Instagram. If the content, in your opinion, does not meet the interests of the audience, it is easy to remove it, or rather, hide it. Why delete the works forever, if a newly opened post can gain new life. This is where the archiving feature comes in handy.
An additional advantage of such a "deletion" is that comments and likes to the publication are saved along with the post.
Delayed publication (creation of a draft)
You can postpone a post for later publication / revision by creating it and immediately adding it to the Instagram archive. Through the archive, you can create drafts, edit them, and then publish them in their final form.
Conclusion
Anyway, the archive function is very useful. The main thing is that it allows you to do without accidental deletion, protecting the user from losing important photos and posts on Instagram. nine0003
