How to send stickers in WhatsApp

A way to express yourself

Stickers are now a fully-fledged feature within WhatsApp, allowing you to send a variety of weird, wonderful, and cute images to your friends and family in private and group chats.

Just like sending GIFs or emoji, these can be a little hidden on WhatsApp meaning you may not immediately know how you can do it. That's why we're here with this guide on how to send stickers on messaging service.

The feature only came out in late 2018, so if you haven’t updated your WhatsApp for a while you may need to download the latest version of the software to be able to access Stickers.

We recommend doing that before you start with the next part of this guide. Also, it works differently depending on whether you use an iPhone or an Android handset too so be sure to make sure you’re reading the right part of the guide.

On Android

  • Open WhatsApp
  • Open the chat you want to send a sticker to
  • Tap emoji face icon (left of the text input area)
  • Tap sticker icon (right of the GIF icon)
  • Browse stickers
  • Tap the one you want
  • It'll send immediately

On iPhone

  • Open WhatsApp
  • Open the chat you want to send a sticker to
  • Tap sticker icon (next to emoji icon)
  • Browse stickers
  • Tap the one you want
  • It'll send immediately

How to send stickers in WhatsApp for Android

If you own an Android handset, you’ll find stickers hiding under the emoji face that’s in the bottom left hand corner. You’ve probably regularly used this to send emoji or perhaps even GIFs in WhatsApp, but it’s now home to stickers too.

The logo for stickers is a little square with the bottom right corner peeling away slightly, and if you press on here you’ll be greeted with your most recently used stickers or more likely the words "you haven't used any stickers yet". You’ll then have to download some packs to be able to send any, so press on the little plus symbol
to the right and you'll head to see all the stickers.

Here you'll find a selection of stickers you can send, but you'll have to press on the little download button to the right hand side before you can send any of them. Don't worry, these packs are small so it isn't going to cost lots of internet or take forever.

You’ll spot a green tick when the pack has finished downloading, and then you can head back to the normal chat window. Here you'll then be able to go back onto stickers and find the pack you're looking for along the top of the grey section at the bottom of the page.

Your most recently used stickers will appear in the first part of the menu, while you can also favorite some stickers so they'll appear under the star. Bear in mind that as soon as you press on a sticker it'll be sent to the chat, so you won't get a preview like you do when sending GIFs.

How to send stickers in WhatsApp for iPhone

It’s a touch easier to find the Stickers section on iPhone compared to its Android counterpart. In the text input at the bottom of your chat there will be a small square with the corner peeling away to the right hand side near the emoji button.

Press on this and you’re in the stickers where you can take a look through and decide what you want to download and send from your phone. You’ll want to press the addition sign here to find out which ones you can download and then the downward facing arrow to the right of the pack you want.

When it’s downloaded, you’ll be able to swipe down from the top of the screen and you’ll see your new stickers ready and waiting. Be warned though, when you tap on it from here the sticker will send automatically unlike when you send a GIF and get a preview beforehand.

How to add and send stickers to whatsapp

Whatsapp now allows you to add and send stickers to chat in the same way as it can be done in some other instant messengers.

You can also add new stickers and insert them both in a private conversation and in a conference with many people. Let's see how to add and send stickers on Whatsapp.

Users of the latest version of Whatsapp have stickers that can be sent in conversations with friends. nine0003

They were added in Whataspp 2.18.330, and work similarly to emoji, with the difference that they express a much wider variety of emotions, and creators are not limited by any character standards.

Each user can set a favorite set that expresses all kinds of emotions, and then send them to their friends.

Stickers are available in the same place where we can find standard emojis and animated GIFs, i.e. after tapping the emoji icon in chat. nine0003

They can be sent both in private conversations and in multi-person conferences. Let's see how to use them?

Add and send stickers to Whatsapp

Start whatsapp and then go to a conversation with the selected person. On the bottom toolbar, click the smiley icon.

The standard panel for sending standard emoticons as well as animated GIFs will be displayed.

In the latest version of the app, you will see a third sticker icon. Click the third icon at the bottom of the screen. nine0003

The screen for sending stickers appears. By default, we find here one set with circles. Just select it, then touch your finger on the sticker you want to send.

You are not limited to just one set of stickers. To add new stickers to Whatsapp, you can click the plus button on the top right corner of the panel.

A list of available kits appears. If you want to install one of them, just click the download button next to the selected set. nine0003

A sticker pack will be added to your phone and you will find it on the top sticker bar. Now you can switch between them and send them to your friends.

You can also add the most popular stickers to your favorites by swiping on the selected sticker and confirming adding it to your favorites.

I am not able to add and send stickers to whatsapp

Stickers are added in Whatsapp 2.18.330, so to use them you need to make sure we have this version or another newer version with a higher number. nine0003

What if there is no Whatsapp version with stickers in the Play Store and AppStore? iPhone and iPad owners should wait for this version to appear in the AppStore.

In turn, if you are using Android, the latest version can be downloaded right here and installed before it appears in the play store.

To do this, use the download link at the very bottom of the page you are currently reading. Download directly in the browser on your smartphone and then install the APK file. Good luck. nine0003

How to share sticker packs on WhatsApp

April 1, 2021

By Adriano De Luca

In this article, we will talk about the stickers you can use on WhatsApp, in more detail we will talk about the procedure for exchanging sticker packs.

Needless to deny that whatsapp stickers is one of the most fun features ever invented. Simplifying the concept greatly, we can define them as intermediate between emoji and GIFs : they are small images that define an action, feeling or state of mind. They are very funny, especially because they allow you to communicate literally without using words, being much more effective than emoticons. You do not think so? You must try them now! nine0003

Just a little creativity and predisposition. Whatsapp actually has packs of stickers that you can download and use immediately, but you can also customize and reinvent your favorite stickers using funny photos of your friends (or yours!) for example, or the most famous memes of the moment. Continue reading this article to learn how to send stickers to your WhatsApp friends! nine0078

But let's go step by step and start with the basics, now let's see how to download and share packs of stickers in WhatsApp. The procedure is really very, very simple. Actually, you just open a chat, no matter individual or group, press on symbol emoji. Next on that one of the stickers (a kind of beveled square at an angle) and finally click on the item to add. nine0078

Once this is done, all you have to do is click on the Download button next to the package you choose and want to download . Once the sticker pack download is complete, you will see a green check mark. Then click back and explore the entire contents of the package. You will find that you will be spoiled for choice among the many stickers to send.

That's it, nothing could be easier: to send sticker , you just click on it and it will appear in the chat you have chosen to send, it goes without saying that you can send all stickers you want. If instead they send you a funny sticker that you would like to use later, you can safely add it to your favorites and always have it in stock.
