We know you love the speed and simplicity of voice messages on Telegram. Starting today, you can also send video messages – just as swiftly:
To send a video message, go to any chat on Telegram and tap the mic icon to switch to camera mode. Now all you need to do is tap and hold the camera icon and record a video message. When you’re done, just release the recording button to dispatch your message — and it will arrive in the blink of an eye.
Video messages are so fast because Telegram compresses them and sends them even as you record them. By the way, if holding the button seems like too much work, you can lock the camera in recording mode by swiping up. This also works with voice messages now (here's one for you, cab drivers).
Video messages are automatically downloaded and autoplayed by default (you can change this in Settings if you’re on a data diet though) and generally feel and act like voice messages – on visual steroids.
Picture in Picture
While watching a video message, you can freely browse your other chats – the video will pop up in a corner and continue playing. You can move it around the screen and pause it from anywhere in Telegram. Cool, eh? Well, there's more:

How To Send Video Messages in Telegram and How to Use Telescope in Telegram
A messaging app which is known for it's simple, fast and secure with over 100 million active users around the world in just two years launch a new features on May 18, 2017. The latest update is 4.0 version which adds two big features - Telegram Telescope and Telegram video messages. Along with this update, Telegram also added Payments for Bots and the Telegram Instant View Platform. In this post, we will look into these news features and show you how to use them.
How To Send Video Messages in Telegram
With this 4.0 update, you can now directly send video message within your normal message chat. Here's how to send video message in Telegram Messenger. Before enjoying this new feature, first you will need to update your Telegram Messenger app from your respective app store. If you are on Android go to Google Play Store, for iOS go to Apple App Store and for other devices you can head over directly to the official Telegram website.
1. Once updated, open your Telegram app as you normally do.
2. To send a video message or video chat, open chat or select your friend or contacts to whom you want to send the video message or chat.
3. Now Tap on the Microphone icon, if you are using Telegram for the first time, you might need to give permission to allow Telegram to take pictures and videos. Tap on the Allow button.
4. Once you tapped on the mic icon, switch the mode to camera. Now, tap and hold the camera icon and to record a video message.
5. If you are not satisfied with the video you are recording, just slide to the left to cancel.
6. If you are on a multi task or tired of holding on the video icon, you can drag it up or slide it up to let the video record itself.
7. Once you are done recording, just release the button to send the video to that person.
8. You can also preview the video before sending it.
Also, you can delete that video if you decided to start fresh one. Just tap on the Delete icon on the right side.
9. That's it.
Please note that Video messages are automatically downloaded and auto played by default, however you can always change this in Settings if you’re on a limited data plan. Telegram also gives you the option to freely browse your other chats while watching your video message. The video will pop up in a corner and continue playing. At the same time, you can move the video around the screen and pause it from anywhere in Telegram.

What is important to know about recording video in Telegram
Video messages, which some users touchingly call “video in a circle,” are an extended version of voice messages. Such messages convey the meaning and emotions that are embedded in them much more fully.
Compared to video calls, they are more convenient because the recipient can view them at any time. In addition, the sender has the opportunity to better prepare and evaluate the message before sending.
The recording time is limited to 1 minute. More lengthy monologues will have to be divided into several parts and sent sequentially.
Video messages work on Telegram on iPhone, Android devices, and Mac. The function is not available on the web version and on Windows.
How to record a video in a circle in Telegram
For example, let's consider how to record a video message in iOS, but the process will be exactly the same on Android and macOS.
Go to the desired chat and click the microphone icon once.
After that, it will change to the camera image.
Press and hold the new icon to record a circled video. If something went wrong, swipe left and delete the message. In order not to leave your finger on the button all the time, you can reach the lock at the top, thereby fixing it. To switch the camera from the front to the main one, click on the camera icon with arrows.
Release your finger and the message will be sent immediately. If you blocked the record button, then click on the small "Stop" icon and the arrow.
How to view a video message in Telegram before sending it
By default, videos in a circle are sent automatically without a preview. But if you want to evaluate them first, there are three ways to do it.
Record the maximum video length or use the record button lock. In both cases, after the end of shooting, a preview will open, and with the help of the timeline below, the video can even be trimmed.
The third option is to go to Favorites, send a video message to yourself, and then watch it.
If everything is in order, then you can send the recording to the right person.
How to delete a video message in Telegram
Video messages are deleted in the same way as all others. Hover your finger over the entry, select Delete from the pop-up menu, and then either Delete from Me or Delete from Me and Recipient.

- start the Telegram program;
- open a chat or group where you want to send a video file;
- press the paperclip icon on the left side of the text input option;
- in the menu that opens, find the file and double-click on it;
- wait until the file is fully uploaded and click "Submit".
However, framing a video in a circle is a video recording feature exclusively within the messenger itself, and therefore it will not be available when using a non-mobile version. You can get around this moment by resorting to special bots that convert a regular video into a circle format. But all of them are third-party products and are uploaded to Telegram additionally. By default, this option is not available.
From a smartphone
In the Telegram application installed on the phone, there is no need to perform any additional manipulations to make a round frame in a video message. This happens automatically when you add a video to a chat.
- Launch the application on the phone.
- Find a group or conversation where you want to record video.
- In the text input field, find the microphone icon and click on it once to switch from recording a voice message to creating a video.
- To control the recording time manually, you need to hold your finger on the icon.
