To maintain a copy of your WhatsApp chat history on Google Drive, you can enable the automatic backup feature and select its frequency as daily, weekly, or monthly. In order to successfully restore a Google Drive backup, you need to use the same phone number and Google Account used to create the backup.
You need to ensure that your new Android device is linked to the Google Account where your backup is saved. Install and open WhatsApp, then verify your number. How to restore WhatsApp chat history from local backup
If you want to use a local backup, you will need to transfer the files to the phone using a computer, file explorer or SD Card.
Download a file manager app. In the file manager app, navigate to your local storage or sdcard > WhatsApp > Databases. If your data is not stored on an SD card, you might see "internal storage" or "main storage" instead. Copy the most recent backup file to the local storage's Databases folder of your new device. Then Install and open WhatsApp, then verify your number. Tap RESTORE when prompted to restore your chats and media from the local backup.
Also, users need to remember that your phone will store up to the last seven days worth of local backup files. Local backups will be automatically created every day at 2:00 AM and saved as a file in your phone.
If your data is not stored in the /sdcard/WhatsApp/ folder, you might see "internal storage" or "main storage" folders.
If you want to restore a local backup that is not the most recent one, you will need to do the following:
Download a file manager app. In the file manager app, navigate to your local storage or sdcard > WhatsApp > Databases. If your data is not stored on the SD card, you might see "internal storage" or "main storage" instead. Rename the backup file you want to restore from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12 to msgstore.db.crypt12. It is possible that an earlier backup might be on an earlier protocol, such as crypt9 or crypt10. Do not change the number of the crypt extension. Uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp and tap RESTORE when prompted.

When buying a new smartphone, WhatsApp users often have problems transferring chats.
The program interface cannot be called intuitive, but the developers have provided several ways to save old dialogs.
All users are advised to set up a backup when starting the messenger for the first time. This option periodically saves all chats along with files on the user's device or in the cloud. The last storage location is preferable, because smartphones and tablets often break down and because of this, access to data can be lost forever.
The chat migration method depends on the operating system and the user's preferred way of working with files. You can send a backup to cloud storage or to external media (SD card).
Most Android users prefer to transfer copies of conversations via Google Drive. This method is very convenient, because you do not need to copy files manually. The new backup is automatically uploaded to the cloud. In order to transfer chats from an old phone to a new one, you need:
On iOS devices, copying the conversation history is done through iCloud. The user uploads a backup copy of data from WhatsApp from the old device to the cloud storage, and then automatically after authorization on the new smartphone, the information is copied to the messenger. In order to use this method, you must:
Messenger backups are created with reference to numbers. If the user has several accounts, he can upload their backups to one cloud storage and then restore them one by one.
There is no official way to transfer WhatsApp backup from Android to iOS. But you can use the AppTrans program. It needs to be installed on the computer. Further procedure:
The official method is only available for owners of Samsung smartphones and tablets. You need to download Samsung SmartSwitch to your computer.
Further procedure:
Smartphones on Windows Phone are quite rare, but even on them you can backup WhatsApp chats and transfer them to Android. But to do this is much more difficult than in the case of other operating systems. In order to copy the history of correspondence, you need:
There you need to activate Engine Unlock and Interop Unlock. Direct transfer of information to a PC will not work. WhatsApp does not have this option. But you can send a backup copy of your data to a computer.
To do this:

WhatsApp users began to actively prepare to leave the messenger. It is known that so far no restrictions are planned for the application, however, experts believe that it will not hurt to be ready in advance. About how to save all information from WhatsApp, transfer it to Telegram, to another smartphone or PC - in the material of Gazeta.Ru.
In connection with the blocking of the Instagram photo service in Russia, users of the WhatsApp messenger should, just in case, pay attention to ways to back up all data from the application.
The reason is that WhatsApp and Instagram are owned by the same company, Meta (formerly Facebook).
It is now known that no restrictive actions are planned for the messenger.
However, more and more users are interested in how to switch to other services, with the help of which you can quickly send and receive messages, but at the same time not lose years of correspondence both with friends and relatives, and on work or business issues.
Any messenger has a backup function that allows you to protect data and restore it in case of unforeseen events, Ivan Samoylenko, managing partner of B&C Agency, told Gazeta.Ru.
“Of course, users can take many screenshots of conversations or copy contacts to a text file, but people tend to have dozens of chats. This will take a significant amount of time,” the expert added.
According to the analyst, there are three ways that are much more effective than such practices.
Transferring backups using third-party programs is possible on smartphones with both iOS and Android, Samoylenko explained.
Typically, such programs are used if you need to move WhatsApp data between smartphones with different mobile operating systems. However, for the purpose of creating a backup, they are also suitable.
Among the most frequently used programs are MobileTrans, WutsApper, WhatsApp Transfer and others.
The method of copying them may differ, but, as a rule, you need to connect both devices to the system: a gadget with data and a smartphone that will store the copy.
Such programs are also capable of more complex actions. For example, MobileTrans allows you to transfer all data, including photos and videos. The program has the functions of backing up WhatsApp to a computer and restoring a copy from a PC to a smartphone.
Users whose version of the messenger has been updated to a version higher than 7.4 will be able to copy WhatsApp chats (including group ones) to Telegram.
You need to launch WhatsApp on the device, select a chat, swipe it from right to left and click the “More” button, Samoylenko said.
In the menu that appears, select "Export chat". Here you need to specify whether media files will be transferred - audio, photo and video recordings.
“Next, we indicate with which programs we want to share the correspondence. In our case, with Telegram. In this application, you can create a separate group in advance for your own correspondence, or save chats in "Favorites," the analyst noted.
The last step is to select the desired chat and click the "Import" button. According to the expert, you should not save personal correspondence in group chats, as they will be available to all their participants. When the data transfer is complete, "Imported" will appear.
A Google Drive cloud backup can help if multiple users need access and an account is registered for business.
According to Samoylenko, for this method you need to log in to your Google account and be connected to the Internet.
“Next, open WhatsApp, the tab “Other options”, and in it “Settings”.
