Lack of transparency

I am a single mom and struggling owner of a small business and Instagram continues to freeze my Instagram business account and not let me follow new potential customers even though I always chose the “tell us” if we made a mistake option. Things are not transparent and I have no idea of when I can and cannot follow new potential customers, send them messages or how many I am allowed to contact or send messages to. I don’t have a problem with rules and regulations but I just wish it was written somewhere so I would know and not have my small business affected tremendously every time I get blocked from my own account. I cannot find these rules written anywhere on Instagram terms and conditions. I think it is very sad that Instagram does not have a security system in place to check that I am the one using the account and therefore, not limit my chances to reach new potential customers who are willingly choosing to follow my small business page. I hope this issue can be improved ASAP by instagram so my business can have a fair chance to grow its number of followers. Why not charge a small fee to give me a fair chance so I can reach unlimited number of new followers who own “public” accounts. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Stay safe.

Frustrating New Update

The new update design is extremely frustrating for many reasons. First is the lack of originality: if I wanted to use tiktok, I would open tiktok. Second is the all black “immersive” display. I find it rather distracting to have the screen try to morph and fit all the many shapes of photo ratios & videos but all it does it create either unnecessary clutter on the screen or large dead spaces. There is also no way to access the stories anymore unless you are at the top of your feed or come across one of the “breaks” where they are offered.

Also, I prefer my phone in light mode as it is easier for me to read. With the new update, you can only read captions in white font overlayed on the post *after* clicking on them. I miss the continuous scroll feature and I miss how much easier the captions were to read on white. There’s also NO continuity between the black feed page and the rest of the pages which are still in white mode - it’s simply ugly. Finally, by removing the continuous scroll feature, it’s affected how videos play- they begin before I get to them and I do not have the ability to mute them anymore (which is very frustrating!).

I understand this was a rather long review, but I wanted to make my frustrations known in the hopes they will be legitimately considered. I’m disappointed in this update and in Instagram. I’ve found myself using Instagram less and less and I have a feeling that will remain the same if the update is permanent.

Love Instagram but…

I’ve been blessed with a black and white information bar that says couldn’t refresh feed for almost a week now and it is really frustrating and annoying and more stress I don’t need added onto my life right now. I’ve tried to uninstall the app and reinstalled it, logged back in, and it does the exact same thing pops the couldn’t refresh feed bar and keeps popping up until the current video has been completely loaded than it will go away. I’ve checked to see if the app is up to date and it is 100% up to date, I’ve checked my iPhone’s iOS system thinking that could be the culprit because it has been before in the past with other apps that acted up when it wasn’t up to date, but my iOS system is up to date. I’ve read it could be a poor internet or WiFi connection and that’s not true because my connection signal is pretty strong as I’m in the next room over from where the WiFi box is located and I receive a strong signal so it isn’t our WiFi connection. This is really frustrating and irritating and annoyance to me that it makes me so stressed out every time I go on Instagram and see that information bar there when it wasn’t there last month only recently. Please Instagram for the love of god fix this issue!! I’ve done everything I could on my end to fix it and nothing has changed. This is a bug on your end and it needs to be fixed pronto!

The first version of Instagram, which was available for download on October 6, 2010, was for iPhone users. It was a wise decision: The popularity of the iPhone combined with Instagram’s ease of use when it came to sharing photos resulted in more than one million registered Instagram users by the end of 2010. You can install the iPhone app not only on your iPhone but also on your iPad if you prefer to use your tablet.

Installing Instagram on an iPhone

It’s easy to download Instagram from the App Store to your iPhone:
  1. Tap the App Store icon.
  2. Tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap the Search icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.
  4. Tap the Search box, at the top of the screen, and start typing the word Instagram.

    After you type the first few letters, Instagram appears at the top of the results list.

  5. Tap Instagram in the results list.

  6. Tap Get.

    If you need to sign into the App Store, type your password in the Sign In to iTunes Store window and then tap Buy. (If you use Touch ID instead of typing your password, place the appropriate finger or thumb on the Home button.)

  7. Tap Open.
The next time you want to open Instagram, swipe to the Home screen that has room for icons — because that’s where you’ll find the Instagram icon.

Installing Instagram on an iPad

Instagram has yet to create a native app for the iPad, which is another one of life’s great mysteries (but not at the level of where missing socks go). However, you can use the iPhone app on the iPad.

Here’s how to install Instagram on an iPad:

  1. Tap the App Store icon.
  2. Tap the Search icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap the Search box, at the top of the screen, and start typing the word Instagram.

    After you type the first two or three letters, Instagram appears at the top of the results list.

  4. Tap Instagram in the results list.
  5. In the upper-left corner of the screen, tap Supports.
  6. Tap iPhone Only.

    Yes, tap iPhone only when you’re installing Instagram on your iPad.

  7. Tap Get.

    The Instagram app is in the upper-left corner.

    If you need to sign into the App Store, type your password in the Sign In to iTunes Store window. Then tap Buy. Or, if you use Touch ID, place the appropriate finger or thumb on the Home button instead.

  8. Tap Open.

Installing Instagram on an Android

After Instagram was satisfied with the development of its app on the iPhone, staffers turned their attention to developing Instagram for the Android platform. On the first day the app was released, in April 2012, more than a million users downloaded it.

Here’s how to install Instagram from the Google Play Store:

  1. Tap the Play Store icon on the Home screen.

    If the Play Store icon isn’t on a Home screen, tap Apps on the Home screen and then tap Play Store in the Apps screen.

  2. Tap the Search box at the top of the screen, and start typing the word Instagram.

    After you type, Instagram appears in the results list.

  3. Tap Instagram in the results list.

    The app information screen appears.

    Tap Read More to (you guessed it) read more about Instagram.

  5. Tap Open.

Installing Instagram

On Android

      3. Log in by entering your username and password. It is also possible to login via Facebook. If you have not registered before, register now.
      4. The Instagram website opens in a new window.
      5. Right-click anywhere on the page and select View Code.
      6. In the developer panel that opens, click on the mobile device emulation icon (first arrow).
      7. Refresh the page.
      8. Now the version of Instagram has become mobile.
      9. Any mobile device can be selected at the top of the page.
      1. You can close the developer panel.

WARNING! If you do not switch to the mobile version through the developer panel, then "Direct" and messages from subscribers will not be available.

Where to start?

After successful registration on Instagram, you must fill out and complete your profile.

Editing a profile

Consider the procedure for creating a profile.

IMPORTANT! You can select an account type only in the mobile app.

      • Fill in the profile: name, username, email address, phone number. You can also tell about yourself, add a website.

      • Select account privacy: private or public. If a business account is selected, you will not be able to close the profile.

Attention! All completed data will be visible in the profile header. Therefore, it is important to correctly approach the filling of information.

Find friends

      • Enter the application, go to the "Settings" tab.
      • Select the section "Invitation and subscription to friends" or "Interesting people" (to subscribe friends from Facebook). In the browser, you can subscribe to interesting people on the main page.

      • To subscribe to these people, click "Follow" (for a specific person) or "Follow all" (for the entire list).
      • To search for friends, select the "Magnifier" icon and enter the required nickname in the search bar.

Adding posts and photos

      • Click the Plus icon in the bottom bar to add a photo or video as a post to your feed.

HELP! When adding, editing a photo or video is available using the built-in editors and adding filters.

      • Click on the avatar photo in the left corner to add a story.
      • Here you can take a new photo, video or choose from the gallery.
      • When adding stories, you can also use various filters, masks, add inscriptions, stickers, mark other users or places.
