How to delete a post on facebook news feed
How to Delete a Post on Facebook, or Hide Posts by Others
- You can delete any post on Facebook that you created yourself.
- It's easy to delete a post by choosing "Delete" from the three-dot menu on the Facebook app or your web browser.
- You can hide posts made by other people so they won't appear in your Facebook feed, but you cannot delete them.
Most people have at some point posted something on social media that they later regretted.
But no matter your reason for wanting to remove a Facebook post — it's inaccurate, embarrassing, unflattering, something you wouldn't want an employer to see, or any other reason — you can permanently delete a post you've made on Facebook with just a tap or a click.
How to delete a Facebook post on the mobile app1. Open the Facebook app.
2. Go to your timeline by tapping the hamburger menu (the three horizontal lines on the bottom right) and tap your name at the top.
3. Find the post you want to delete and tap the three dots on the upper right of the post.
4. Tap "Delete." Facebook will then ask you to confirm that this is really what you want to do — tap "Delete Post" to confirm.

How to hide Facebook posts created by othersOf course, you can only delete posts you have created yourself — you don't have the power to delete something that was posted to Facebook by someone else.
But if you don't like a post that you're tagged or mentioned in, you could ask the person who created it to edit or delete it. Alternatively, you have two other options:
- You can hide it from your timeline. This isn't the same as deleting the post — and in fact, it may still appear in other people's timelines — but you can keep it from showing up in your own. To do that, click or tap the three dots on the upper right of the post and choose "Hide from timeline."
- If you're tagged in the post, you can remove the tag. This will prevent it from appearing in your timeline and from searches that include posts with your tag. To do that, click or tap the three dots on the upper right of the post and choose "Remove tag."

Sure, Facebook can be a great way to connect and stay in touch with family and friends. Yet, more often than not, it’s a headache that can turn toxic thanks to the News Feed. Whether it’s fake news, envy-inducing vacation photos from a classmate you barely know, or a relative’s upsetting political post, there are just some things better left unseen. True, you could unfollow a page if you want to stop seeing those kinds of posts, but you can’t exactly unfollow your uncle or a close friend without potentially putting those relationships at risk.
Thankfully, there’s a way around it. It turns out, you can customize your Facebook feed so you don’t have to see their posts without needing to unfriend anybody. There are a number of ways to do so, whether you just want to hide a single post or hide all of someone’s posts indefinitely. We’ll guide you through your options here.
How to remove unwanted Facebook posts by customizing your feed
- First, sign into your Facebook profile. On your feed, click on the three dots near the upper right-hand corner of the post you’d like to get rid of.
Click on the three dots near the top right of the post you’d like to get rid of.
- A small menu will pop up, offering you several options:
A menu will pop up that you can use to hide, snooze, or unfollow posts.
- If you wish to just hide that one post, click Hide post.
- However, if you wish to temporarily hide all posts from that person, you can also select Snooze [Name] for 30 days.
- Alternatively, for a more long-term solution, you can simply click Unfollow [Name]. You will not see any posts from that page, person, or group. However, you’ll continue to stay friends with and follow that person, page, or group.
And that’s it! As a side note, though, if you don’t wish to remove the profile’s posts entirely but simply see less of them, it might be a good idea to tap on Favorites. This will prioritize the posts of people and pages you want to see more of in your feed. You may still see the posts you don’t want to view, but it likely won’t be as often.
How to reconnect with a profile whose posts you’ve hidden
Don’t worry: if you ever wish to turn off a Snooze or follow somebody back, Facebook also offers a number of ways for you to do so. One of these is through customizing your feed.
- Click on your profile picture in the upper right-hand corner and select Settings & privacy.
Underneath your profile photo, click on “Settings & privacy.”
- Now click on Feed.
Under “Settings & privacy,” click on “Feed.”
You should now see a menu presenting you with a number of options.
After selecting “Feed,” you’ll see options that will allow you to undo a “Snooze,” follow profiles back, and more.
- If you wish to turn off Snooze, simply click Snooze and then tap on the blue clock next to the profile, page, or group. It should turn black once you do so.
Click on the clock next to the profile to turn off the “Snooze.”
- If you want to follow somebody again, click Reconnect.
- Select the black filing box icon next to the name of the person, page, or group. It should turn blue after you do so.
Click on the black filing box icon to follow the profile again.
And voila! You’re done. Now next time you come across a relative’s cringeworthy, most definitely politically incorrect Facebook post, you can just hit “Snooze.” When you’re ready, you can undo it whenever you please — and nobody will suspect a thing.

How to clear the Facebook feed from unnecessary information | by Ed Revolver
The key to comfortable work with social services is a careful selection of contacts. But if Facebook has become the embodiment of information chaos for you, do not rush to delete friends or close your account altogether. Better try these not so drastic measures.
Unfollow annoying acquaintances
Let's say your feed is full of boring posts from school friends. But you don't want to unfriend them so you don't get caked in the face at a class reunion. How to be? Just unsubscribe from them without deleting them - your friends will not know about it. No matter how many such friends you have, Facebook will help you unfollow them all at once. If you have not yet discovered this opportunity for yourself, I will tell you briefly how to use it.
- Go to the "More" menu on the website (icon with a downward arrow) or in the Facebook mobile app (icon with three horizontal bars).
- Select "News Feed Settings".
- Click "Unfollow people to hide their posts" (or "Unfollow people to hide their posts" if logged in from Android).
- Mark the unwanted without any remorse.
Done. Inappropriate entries will no longer appear in the feed. This way you can quickly unfollow any accounts whose posts have no place in your heart.
Control the news flow with the help of lists
The more sources form the feed, the more difficult it is to digest the information coming from them. Therefore, Facebook allows you to break down the news feed into categories to make it easier to understand. Everything is simple. You group your favorite contacts by some common attribute (for example, "best friends", "my exes" or "colleagues"), creating separate lists for them. And then you view updates only for those accounts that interest you at a particular point in time. Here's how to organize it all.
- Open the page in your browser to manage lists.
- Click Create List.
- Enter a name for the list and click Create.
- Click Add Friends to List.
- Select the pages whose news you want to group into a separate feed and click Finish.
- If necessary, repeat the instructions to create other lists.
In the future, you will be able to view news from sources from each list separately. The lists appear on the left side of the home page of the Facebook website and in the "More" menu in the mobile apps.
Block content from inappropriate sources
Facebook can hide posts that contain links to pages and entire sites that you don't want. Regardless of who shares these links. In the context of the political bacchanalia that rages on social networks, this function looks especially relevant. If you notice content from a hateful source in one of the news and want to avoid it in the future, do this with it.
- Click on the gray arrow in the corner of the entry.
- Select "Hide everything from 'source name'.
You will no longer see news with links to a blocked resource. But the account that posted such a link will remain among your subscriptions. In the same elementary way, you can tell Facebook about other sources whose content you do not want to see in your feed.
Reduce the number of publications from "noisy" accounts
There are many personal and corporate pages on Facebook, the owners of which publish good content, but do not know the measure and clog the entire feed for subscribers. On the one hand, I don’t want to unsubscribe from these sources, on the other hand, they often strain me. Most likely, there are such accounts in your contact list. Fortunately, Facebook allows you to reduce the amount of news from selected pages, which can be a solution. To cool down overzealous publishers, follow these steps.
- While browsing your feed, click on the gray arrow in the corner of any post from an annoying source.
- Select Hide Publication.
- Click "Show less from 'source name'.
As a result, entries from this and other accounts marked in this way will be less likely to get into your feed. In my experience, this seemingly obvious option is often overlooked. But in vain.
In addition, you have another way to reduce the amount of news from unwanted sources.
You can select the pages whose posts you want to see in the feed more often. Consequently, posts from the rest of the contacts on your list will flash before your eyes less often. Here's how to do it.
- Open the More menu on the website (down arrow icon) or the Facebook mobile app (three horizontal bars icon).
- Select News Feed Settings.
- Click Prioritize who to see first (or Prioritize who to see first if logged in from Android).
- Check the accounts whose news you want to see first.
After this simple procedure, publications from unmarked contacts will be displayed last in the feed.
P.S. I took Vimeo and Depeche Mode just for examples. Nothing personal.
