WhatsApp is basically designed to be used on Mobile Phones with an active Phone Number. However, it is also possible to Use WhatsApp on PC without Mobile Phone.
There are multiple ways to use WhatsApp on PC or Mac, each method has its own advantages and disadvantages as listed below.
1. Android SDK: Installing and setting up Android SDK takes time and uses a good amount of resources on your PC.
2. Android Emulators: Android Emulators like “BlueStacks” or “Andy” create an Android like environment on your PC, allowing you to run Android Apps, including WhatsApp.
3. Third Party Software: There are some third party programs that are designed to run WhatsApp on PC. However, we are unable to recommend any of them as we haven’t tried any of these programs.
4. WhatsApp Web: Using the Desktop or Web version of WhatsApp is the official way to Use WhatsApp on PC.
However, this method still requires you to have a smartphone with an active WhatsApp Account running on it.
In general, WhatsApp Web is not an independent or stand-alone application, it only manages to duplicate or Mirror your Mobile WhatsApp Account on the larger screen of your PC or Mac.
Hence, in this guide we are making use of an Android Emulator called ‘BlueStacks’ to independently run WhatsApp on PC, without the need to have an WhatsApp Account on your Mobile Phone.
1. Use WhatsApp On PC Without Phone Using BlueStacks
As mentioned above, BlueStacks creates a mobile phone like environment on your PC, which allows you to run Android Apps like WhatsApp on your PC.
So, the first step is to download & Install BlueStacks Android Emulator on your PC and then download and Install WhatsApp on your PC.
1. Open Chrome or any other web browser on your Computer and go to bluestacks.
com.
2. Once you are on bluestacks.com, click on Download BlueStacks button to download BlueStacks on your computer.
3. After BlueStacks is downloaded, double-click on the downloaded file to begin the process of installing BlueStacks on your computer.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation of BlueStacks Application on your PC or Mac.
5. Once BlueStacks is installed, open the application by clicking on the BlueStacks icon.
6. After opening BlueStacks, you should be able to see WhatsApp on the list of popular Apps listed by BlueStacks. If not, you can search for WhatsApp by typing in the BlueStacks Search bar.
7. Once you are able to find WhatsApp, click on the Install button to download and Install WhatsApp on your Computer.
8. After WhatsApp is downloaded and Installed, open WhatsApp by clicking on the WhatsApp icon on your computer.
9. Next, WhatsApp will prompt you to enter your Phone number so that you can receive a verification Code from WhatsApp.
You can enter your Home Phone Number, in case you do not have a Mobile Phone Number.
10. Once you enter the Home Phone Number, you will see a verification failed message on your computer. Just click on the Call ME option.
11. You will get an Automated Message From WhatsApp on your Home Phone Number. Listen to the Message and note down the Verification Code.
12. Enter the Verification Code in the pop-up on your computer (See image below).
After entering the verification code, you will see your WhatsApp Account on your computer.
Start a Chat with any of your Contacts to see if WhatsApp is working properly on your computer without using a Mobile Phone.

How to use WhatsApp on laptop or PC
WhatsApp says that your phone doesn’t need to stay online to use WhatsApp on other linked devices like laptop, but your linked devices will be logged out if you don’t use your phone for over 14 days.

By India Today Tech: WhatsApp is accessible online as well, and you no longer need your smartphone to use the app to send messages to someone. Just a few months back, the platform released the multi-device feature that allows you to access WhatsApp without your smartphone.
The feature is available for WhatsApp Web and Desktop versions. People now have the option to use this messaging app on up to four linked devices at the same time, without requiring their phone to be online. This basically means that even if your phone is switched off, you will be able to access WhatsApp on the (laptop) Web or desktop version.

Do keep in mind that users might witness some syncing issues in some situations, which WhatsApp is already working on a fix.
The company says that your phone doesn’t need to stay online to use WhatsApp on linked devices, but your linked devices will be logged out if you don’t use your phone for over 14 days.
How to use WhatsApp on Laptop or PC without phone
Step 1: Type WhatsApp Web on your browser if you don’t want to download the desktop version of the app.
Step 2: You will now get WhatsApp Web link on the top, just click on it and a QR code will appear.
Step 3: You need to scan this QR code from your smartphone by opening WhatsApp on your mobile > setting menu > Linked devices > Link device.
Note: Do keep in mind that you will require your smartphone the first time you try to log in to WhatsApp on any other device like your laptop or PC. Once you successfully log in, you won’t be required to use your phone again to access WhatsApp on a PC or laptop.
Step 4: You will now see “Scan QR code” written on the top of your WhatsApp screen. So, now you just need to place your phone on laptop’s screen ad scan the QR code.
The scanning process is similar to the way you make an online payment on an offline store using Paytm or Google Pay. Once the scanning process is successful, you will be able to use WhatsApp on laptop or PC without your phone.
Unsupported features if you use WhatsApp on laptop or PC
WhatsApp says that you won’t be able to clear or delete chats on linked devices if your primary device is an iPhone. It will also be difficult to message or call someone who is using a very old version of WhatsApp on their phone. WhatsApp will also not show you live location on linked devices. It is not possible to create and view broadcast lists on linked devices. Lastly, sending messages with link previews from WhatsApp Web is also unsupported.

Useful WhatsApp Tricks

1) WhatsApp Web

2) Text formatting
To make it bold, put asterisks (*) before and after the word/phrase. Italics are created with an underscore (_) and strikethrough is done with a tilde (~).
Symbols can be combined, there should not be a space between the symbol and the word, otherwise it will not work.
3) Adding a date to the calendar (iOS only)
When you send a date or time in a message, it appears as a hyperlink. Click on it to add the event to the calendar. You need to write "Thursday 6", and not just "Thursday". Allow the application to access the calendar, otherwise nothing will work.
4) Privacy
Don't want everyone to be able to see your profile information and when you were online? Go to Settings → Account → Privacy and configure access for each block of data. 9) Hide message previews
To prevent others from accidentally reading your messages, turn off message previews. Go to Settings → Notifications → Show thumbnails and switch the slider to inactive mode.
10) Message read time
To find out when the interlocutor has read the message, hold the message until the menu appears and select the "Data" item.
11) Add a message to your favorites
To add a message to your favorites, press and hold until the menu appears and select the star ☆. To view all your favorite messages, go to Settings → Favorite messages.
12) Limit background data
