WhatsApp is an incredibly popular iPhone app, connecting more than a billion active members around the world every day. It lets you send messages to friends, or groups of friends, over Wi-Fi or 4G/5G and make savings on your phone bill. (Of course, you may end up paying for data if you go over your limit, so don’t go crazy!)

The sad thing is that WhatsApp is only available for iPhone. There isn’t a version of the app for the iPad (or iPod touch).

But don’t despair. In this tutorial, we show you how to use WhatsApp on the iPad using WhatsApp Web. This service connects to the WhatsApp account on your iPhone (or Android device) and forwards the messages on to your iPad, allowing you to send and receive messages, pictures and videos. It’s not quite native WhatsApp on the iPad, but it’s the next best thing.

WhatsApp for iPad release date

While right now there is no version of Whatsapp on the iPad, there could be one coming. In August 2021 news emerged that a Whatsapp app for iPad is coming soon with a project to bring the messaging app to iPad (and Android tablets) in development.

Then in January 2022 WhatsApp boss Will Cathcart acknowledged in an interview that people had been asking for an iPad app for a long time. Cathcart revealed that much of the infrastructure to develop an iPad app is already in place, but he made no immediate promises.

Since then reports have emerged suggesting that WhatsApp for iPad will be released with multi-device support. WABetaInfo tweeted in May 2022 that: “Multi-device 2.0 will let people link an additional mobile phone or tablet (WhatsApp for iPad/Android tablet) to the same WhatsApp account in the future.”

Perhaps 2022 will be the year that Whatsapp comes to iPad, and for that matter Mac as well! Read our separate tutorial about how to use Whatsapp on a Mac.

How to get WhatsApp on iPad

Follow these steps to get WhatsApp on an iPad:

  1. Open Safari on your iPad and head to web.whatsapp.com. As long as you’re on iPadOS 13 or later, this will load the correct desktop version of WhatsApp Web automatically.
  2. Those on iOS 12 and earlier will be taken to the WhatsApp home page instead. To solve this, tap and hold the refresh button to the right of the website address. After a second or two, tap the option that appears saying ‘Load desktop site’.
  3. You’ll now see the familiar WhatsApp Web interface, complete with a QR code to pair with your iPhone. Open the iPhone’s Settings, go to WhatsApp Web, and scan the code to pair the two devices.
  4. The page should now load and display all your recent WhatsApp messages, along with any media or voice notes.

Be aware that there are a few limitations when using this workaround. Most importantly, unlike when the service is used on a Mac or PC, notifications from web browsers aren’t supported on iOS/iPadOS. You won’t be notified of new messages.

Apart from that and a few small bugs, however, the service is pretty easy to use and a great alternative for WhatsApp users keen to access the service on iPad.

WhatsApp Web is a free and easy way to access the WhatsApp service on your iPad. Although you won’t get notifications (as you would when using the service on Mac or PC), it’s a great way to easily access your messages on a tablet.

App got worse after no choice then having to update

What happened to what’s app after the update. It got worse. What about being able to delete what you sent on both sides nit just from my chat, it used to not any more! You said there were improvements? Not at all! Improvements doesn’t mean to take away what worked well for many. improvements is enhancing adding not removing what works. What a disappointment this app fell short! Many feel the same! Security? That probably won’t be secure either anymore! Let’s see what will happen going forward with all the breaches and the unsecured and less encryption . I can go on and on. If you say you will improve, then do as you promise! Thanks for the review.

Please note that you only have about **an hour** after you've sent a message to delete for everyone.

Messages that are successfully deleted for everyone will be replaced with:

“**This message was deleted**”

To delete messages for everyone:

1. Open the WhatsApp chat containing the message you want to delete.
2. Tap and hold the message :: tap **Delete**.
* Optionally, select more messages to delete multiple messages at once.

3. Tap the **trash can** icon :: **Delete For Everyone**.

**Note**:

* In order for messages to be successfully deleted for everyone, both you and your recipient must be using the latest version of WhatsApp.
* Recipients using WhatsApp for iOS may still have media you sent saved to their Photos, even after the message is deleted from the WhatsApp chat.
* Recipients may see your message before it's deleted or if deletion wasn’t successful.
* You won’t be notified if deleting for everyone wasn’t successful.
* You only have about an hour after you've sent a message to request to **Delete for Everyone**

Couldn’t ask for a better app to communicate with loved ones

I absolutely adore this app. It keeps me connected with my friends and family at all times. The chat features are amazing. One of the features I love about WhatsApp is the saving a chat message which has the star icon. I use it all the time to save important and special sweet messages from my friends and family. WhatsApp even lets me look at all the saved messages in that conversation under the contact which I really appreciate. WhatsApp settings are very easy to get around with and with no problems. Another feature I love is the Preview feature. When I’m going to a public place where I could possibly forget my phone somewhere and I don’t want my messages to be seen or in another case I want privacy I use that feature. I also like the customizable sound notifications for each contact. I absolutely am grateful for this app!

Never seen a more garbage communication app

Just to clarify I have been using WhatsApp for several years, if I had to guess it would be over 4 years, I have plenty of friends that use it and swear by it but I cannot fathom how frustrating it is to use sometimes. I came on here to express one thing and one thing only.

Many of my colleagues use this app to video chat and to send text. I have added many contacts using WhatsApp however when I try to send a message or call these new contacts i am left with only inviting them to use the app, rendering the app completely useless at times. Allow me to specify my problem.

Say for example I added a new phone number in my contacts list. I close the app to then open WhatsApp, I try to search for the new contact. I find the name, but when I try to send a message the only choice I have is to invite. This is mostly frustrating when I first add someone but I have contacts from a year ago that still need an invitation when they so clearly use the app on a daily basis. As long as this problem persists I don’t see myself using the app long term, if it wasn’t for this issue I would be ecstatic about the development. For now I’m disappointed and at a loss of words for how I would feel going forward.

How to install? (instruction, video)

It's no secret that in recent years, various services for communicating over the Internet, such as WhatsApp , Viber or iMessage are gaining immense popularity. Traditionally, the most requested "messenger" is WhatsApp, mainly due to its availability on all popular platforms for mobile devices.

One of the benefits WhatsApp - registration by phone number, but this also leads to difficulties using the service on the iPad. In this article, we will show you how to bypass restrictions and start using WhatsApp on iPad.

How to install WhatsApp on iPad?

Probably the first problem that iPad users have when installing WhatsAapp on the iPad is the lack of a tablet version in the App Store. Moreover, unlike other applications available for the iPhone, the application cannot be found even when you turn on the display of programs iPhone only. If you try to install the program from your computer, iTunes will also give an error.

To bypass all these obstacles, we will have to follow a few simple steps:

  • Open the iTunes program on your Windows or Mac computer and transfer to section iTunes Store .
  • In it, find the program itself WhatsApp and download it to your computer

After that, you will need to resort to the help of a third-party program iFunBox (download here), which is available for both Windows and Mac. This program is essentially a manager for iOS devices, similar to iTunes.

  • Connect your iPad to your computer and make sure it is detected in iFunBox.
  • Press the key Install the application and use the search to find the installation file. ipa program WhatsApp, which was downloaded from iTunes Store.
  • After successful completion of the procedure, program WhatsApp will appear on the iPad screen.

However, it will still not be possible to use the program on the iPad, because when it starts it will report that it is not designed to work on the tablet:

Now you need an iPhone on which the WhatsApp program is either not installed or removed. Please note that after uninstalling WhatsApp from iPhone, subsequent installations cannot restore a copy of iCloud chat data. A standard window for number registration should appear on the phone.

After the application confirms your phone number and sends a message with a confirmation code via SMS, complete the setup and connect your iPhone to a computer running the iFunBox program.

  • Go to Applications and search for WhatsApp .
  • Copy the Documents and Library folders from iPhone to your Mac or Windows computer.
  • Turn off iPhone.

Now reconnect your iPad to your computer and run the program iFunBox . In the same way, go to the WhatsApp program folder and upload the folders copied from the iPhone into it.

All that's left is to reload the app on the iPad and start using it.

Please note that WhatsApp will not work on both devices in parallel, messages will only arrive on the device on which WhatsApp was last used.

WhatsApp made a version for the iPad. When is the release?

I don't know about you, but I've always been very surprised by the fact that WhatsApp doesn't have a separate iPad version . Perhaps it was because of this that I started using Telegram, because I wanted to be able to quickly switch between devices. Then it seemed to me that WhatsApp was somehow deeply tied to the work of GSM, and therefore it could not work on tablets through which it was impossible to make calls. However, over time it became clear what was the real reason for this limitation. Fortunately, the developers have finally found a solution to this problem and are preparing to present it to us.

WhatsApp will have a separate iPad version. Finally

How to set up automatic deletion of photos in WhatsApp after the first viewing

Soon WhatsApp will officially work on the iPad . There is no doubt about this, since support for Apple branded tablets has already appeared in the latest beta version of the messenger. According to the developers, they managed to develop a new encryption technique in which they can synchronize between multiple devices, but at the same time remain protected from interception. Previously, this was not possible, and on a WhatsApp computer, could only work if a smartphone was connected to it.

WhatsApp for iPad

The arrival of a standalone WhatsApp application for iPad is part of a new developer initiative to cross-device use of the messenger. The first step was to drop the mandatory connection of the smartphone to the computer when using the web version. And now, apparently, it's time for the next stage. The developers figured out how to ensure the synchronization of encrypted messages, and now they will appear on all devices connected to the account.

To install WhatsApp on the iPad, you need to allow it to be done with the iPhone

Despite the cross-device support, WhatsApp is still not quite the same as Telegram. To start using it on, say, an iPad, you'll have to create a special link for it, confirming that the second device is linked to the account. Only then will WhatsApp be able to run on the tablet. It turns out that the main thing in this bundle will still remain a smartphone, because all the changes will - albeit very indirectly - pass through it.

How to transfer WhatsApp to a new phone

For now, cross-device support is available through a separate beta testing program. This can be seen from the screenshots of users who have joined the trials. The images clearly state that the version of WhatsApp they are using is the version for testing cross-device support. So just download the beta of the messenger and start using it on the iPad, you will not succeed. To do this, you should at least be invited to a separate cohort of testers.

How to install WhatsApp on iPad

Still worth a try:

  • Download the TestFlight app from the App Store;
  • Run it and distribute the necessary permissions;

You can join the WhatsApp test via TestFlight

  • Join the test using this link;
  • Install WhatsApp beta on your iPhone;
  • Enable cross-device support in settings.

Important : at the time of publication, the staff of testers for the current beta version of WhatsApp is already staffed. So don't be surprised if you're denied on the pre-access join page. This is completely standard practice. Therefore, it is recommended to check from time to time whether there are free places. Perhaps someone will leave the testing program and you will have access to the beta.

Mark Zuckerberg told how WhatsApp will change

It's hard to say when WhatsApp for iPad will be released . Practice shows that developers can test significant innovations for quite a long time. So the tests can drag on for a month, and for two, and even for six months. And, given the scale of cross-device support as such, we can assume that it will appear at best only this fall, or even linger until the end of the year. Therefore, do not expect an update either in August or, most likely, in September.
